  1. Dont forget that everything in the cash shop (that has only cosmetics and quality of life features) can be bought with currency that you can get by exchanging it for gold. So you dont have to spend a penny (except expansions) to be able to get stuff from cash shop.

  2. It's because of the combat. You unlock all your main fighting skills at 15 or 20 and the rest are just passive or unsatisfying skills like a simple stun kick. Every other mmo has great looking/feeling skills you unlock throughout the game.

  3. GW2 player here (I have been a casual player since GW2 launched and have ~2000 hours logged). I also struggled with the controls until I got a gamepad-keyboard. I would recommend the Razer Tartarus v2. I have been using it for a while and I really like it (and it is only ~$80). I used to use a Logitech G13, and that was also good, BUT the Logitech G13 is no longer being manufactured and the software it uses is the old Logitech software, so that is why I recommend the Razer Tartarus v2 currently as it is still being made and uses the current Razer software.

I map the movement to the joystick/d-pad on my Razer Tartarus v2 and/or G13, so I can do all movement with just my thumb.

  4. GW2 is underrated af. The mmo that i enjoy the most. Real hidden gem. So much content and awesome stories. Best thing is the combat system, gameplay and most of all the ARTWORK is so good!

  5. I bought a razor Tartarus pro and a MMO mouse still I want to use controller its so comfortable my hands don't have to be on the desk I don't even have to be sitting up I can lay on my beanbag if I want. Just downloaded this game last night, and today I'm going to use a steam community config and setup ps4 controller. I'm sure REWARD community website has configs I can use too alot of people prefer controller especially for non fps games where you don't even need gyro.

  6. Id love to see a video or two about the expansions once you get to them, they're some of the best content in the game, and the mounts they add are the best in any mmo with how they feel and act! HoT is really good too, with insane map design and one of the most amazing map-events at the end!

Also if you want to have this game be more action-style, the action camera in the options lets you move your camera automatically like a regular action game, with mouse 1 doing ability 1 and mouse 2 being target enemy! I set its toggle on the side mouse button for whenever I wanna use the UI!

  7. Their endgame also matters and a lot of their older content isnt irrelevant like FFXIV. Better and more diverse dailies, actual mid tier content that isnt piss easy like high level fractals and strike missions, FFXIV jumps straight into savage stuff with nothing before it. Has 2 working PVP formats. Honestly the only thing FFXIV has over GW2 is looks, popularity and story which none are gameplay. Pretty unfair how its free but less popular too but i suppose most FFXIV players have become pretty groomed to casually doing nothing.

  8. A co-worker of mine was a gamer like me and he always talked about guild wars the first game this was back in 2011 and since they were coming out with gw2 I figured I would give it a shot so I bought it played it for a little while and then went back to world of Warcraft so here I am a returning player enjoying the game more than I ever did the leveling system in this game is so much more engaging and enjoyable in my opinion than world of Warcraft and it really doesn't take long to level in my opinion you're always running into activities with other players completing maps it's just a lot of fun and I have so many more maps to complete now that I'm level 80 it'll be a while before I run out of things to do.

  9. I left FFXIV because it's become 100% woke. I'm going to GW2 and PSO2:NGS. Don't get me wrong, FFXIV is a great game but if you're not woke or some sort of LGBTQ, there is no place for you.

  10. I just started playing Guild Wars 2 a few days ago. I play with a controller through steam and it works very well combined wit the action camera. Add GW2 as a non steam game and use steams controller configure tool to build a controller setup that works for you. As a long time WOW player I am loving GW2 so far.

  11. I was a GW1 player (since betas), and played GW2. There are 2 main problems with this game which made me gave up on it.

1 – the B2P model is not ideal. The game has few significant and helpful patches so far in-between themselves. If your class has dogshit meta, get ready for a year + or it. No proper separation of skills between game modes. If a skill is nerfed, often it’s nerfed heavily across the board. As a result of B2P, there’s a huge focus on the shop. With gear and skins miles ahead of what you earn in-game.

2 – the result of B2P : smaller team, less content or content patches (which were in my time one new map and small story). At endgame there’s just nothing fun to do. If you already grinded all the skins you wanted, there’s literally nothing to do. Fractals are fun for a while but it’s like WoW, it becomes a lobby game.

Same for the events in maps. Just mindless zergs.

The lack of player agency (pigeonholed specs and weapons) compared to GW1 was also the nail in the coffin for me.
Even the story which used to be great in the first game, just become more and more predictable each time in the sequel.

Great shame as the character design, gameplay and movement are good.

  12. Been playing GW2 since launch, recently switched to FFXIV. I'll probably play it again once the expansion drops, but as of now, there's really not all that much to do and honestly, the whole icebrood saga thing didn't really grab me to be honest. Compared to Shadowbringers the writing isn't really all that great and I've been thirsting for a well-written story-driven game for a while now.

That said, it's certainly a very good game. The combat is nice and fluid and the mount system is second to absolutely no other MMO in existence, period. It does a lot of things right and comparatively few things wrong (besides the completely ridiculous grind and time-gating for many of the more endgame-oriented things like legendaries, the Skyscale etc).

  13. Why isn’t the game more popular. It’s too easy. It’s been nerfed into the ground and player power is out of control. It’s a boring chore where you just grind mindless activities for gold. Anything remotely difficult is saved for end game and there is no real reason to even do these activities. Mega events with so many players you don’t even care about the fight are the worst events I’ve played in any mmo. I’ve had my GW2 account since the closed beta and while I like many of the additions I think the game is worse than it has ever been… despite there being so much more to do the game just isn’t fun anymore. It will never feel as smooth anymore either now that west coast players have triple the ping they used too. Unless they reopen the old server locations

  14. Non-biased view on why you don't hear about Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 2 set to break out of the mold of the traditional grind quest to level cap then periodically grind for higher gear in difficult dungeons and raids with each update. Hardcore and MMOers took the fact that progression was mostly horizontal instead of vertical as a statement of it being a casual game. There were also some issues related to management in the first couple updates leading to a decent couple dry spells that pushed people away. Think of it like Titanfall 2. If you know anything of what's going on in the industry right now. There's not a goddamn thing wrong with Titanfall, didn't even release in a terrible state. Above average story and awesome gameplay; even better than some of its contemporaries. Due to how it was handled and how public sentiment was people ignored it for other things in the genre. Now people are starting to see what Titanfall 2 really is because of the streamers. Hopefully maybe we can get that here too.

  15. I think that they messed up with GW2, when they released it with a little end-game content. No raids, no GvG, I think that a lot of people got bored and quit. Dungeons were nice, but it wasn't enough. If guild system was more complex at the beginning, I think that a lot of people would stay, just because they created a community there.

  16. Gw2 is one of the best MMOs I've played and it does a lot of things right. Is a casual game . Hardcore experience yes it does have a balance of both systems . Biggest issue that the game currently have is that it doesn't explain some of the hardcore content. Take for example that I'm replaying main story missions complete achievement for a cool item . Or that by accident I created a beast of a tank that does condition damage and can solo most of the content in the expansions. Yes the game is definitely alive no matter what map you in there's always people around.and the combat is fast fluid and very tactical in later content better than bdo hands down . except for control scheme and fluidity bdo is king . And graphics.

  17. With all respect but this video is a waste of time. Nothing really usefull has been said here. Also to much talk about controllers which, i THINK, almost no one cares about.

  18. I figured I'd check GW2 out again recently, when I decided to cut ties with Blizzard. I had played for a few months at launch, long enough to have fully leveled every class, and really enjoyed it.

I quickly realized that several years of story were no longer playable, and decided the Living World was a terrible idea.

Also, it really seems like the cash shop is mobile game level.

It's cool, though, been having a blast in FFXIV ever since.

  19. Guild Wars 2 suffered a rather disastrous PR nightmare right at launch that it never fully recovered from. It's a long and complicated story, and certainly one of those "you had to be there" type of situations. It would also require me to defame a beloved youtuber who tragically passed of cancer a few years back, and I don't want to do that. But in short; WoW players. They are, above all else, loud. And as I'm sure anyone can attest when they decide that a game isn't for them they don't simply leave; they spend literal years dog-piling every social media feed, every news article, every forum, and every comment section to vomit as much hate and misinformation as possible until the game is rendered "dead" in the popular consciousness even if it inherited more loyal fans from its predecessor than some other MMOs will ever have (GW2 released with an established fan community of about 7 million, and once peaked at 12 million. For a hot minute it was actually on track to dominate the industry).

  20. I cant really help since you spent so much time on the Keyboard/controller talk. Make a video with less tangents and more specific questions and impressions and more curated answers you will get. I agree with your statement about learning alittle at a time when the game throws it to you. And maybe join an active/helpful guild. Most of all have fun!

  21. I love this game and have played off and on since launch. It has made me better at other games. I don't think the gearing or class systems are intuitive, so I have pretty much always been bad at it.
