  1. Seiryu in Chinese or Japanese culture is a guardian deity that's connected with the color blue or green ("sei" in seiryu is for blue/green) and controls the rain, so it's often associated with water. in fengshui it's associated with mountains and long rivers, that's why the arena is designed the way it is.

  2. Suzaku was the first ex trial I evr farmed for weapons and the mount. But damn, Seiryu. I loved the fight. Until I had to run it 200 times and never won the mount as a drop. It kinda lost it's shine after that lol. Still a banger trial don't get me wrong, but… yeah. I have some beef with that snake. Aramitama got a hold on me.

  3. On the subject of snakes in Florida: YES. I get it. When I was like… 10 or so, we had a rattlesnake INSIDE the house. And I've had days at the river for camping trips or 4th of July when we couldn't swim because someone saw a snake and we were waiting for it to leave.

  4. Fun fact. The Four Lords are a direct reference to an ancient Chinese myth derived from four Chinese constellations.

These creatures were the guardians of the cardinal directions and also represented the Chinese five elements.

The Azure Dragon of the East, Qing Long or Seiryu in Japanese. The guardian of Wood

The Vermilion Bird of the South, Zhu Que or Suzaku. The guardian of Fire

The White Tiger of the West, Bai Hu or Byakko. The guardian of Metal

And The Black Turtle of the North, Xuan Wu or Genbu. The guardian of Water

    With Earth at it's center.

They also represented times of day and seasons.

Another fun fact is that the beast that represents the Earth in Chinese legend is also represented in the form of the Kirin mount you can get in ARR

  5. Only dislike people have is the transtions. They look cool yeah but doing them often for farms and the like it just mildly irritating. The devs made a note of this and was told to tone down the length in future fights

  6. The air phase reminded me of the classic 80s video game tempest. IMO I agree it was epic.

The second was my favorite, mostly because of the music, and I love the constant motion of that fight. (I Main Black Mage and love the predictable nature of the movement.)

  7. Seiryu is a snek in FFXIV because dragons are aliens, and auspices are native to Hydaelyn. Also, on the subject of Seiryu, shoutout to the English writers for all the dumb shit that the adds say. "I rock" and "I also rock" is something that genuinely puts a smile on my face.

  8. Ah yes if you die during the skydiving part of Jade Stoa, your body just spins as you spiral down towards the ground with a huge thud. It’s pretty funny to watch

Also that part of the fight gives me epic MM Power Rangers skydiving to Higher by the RHCP vibes, so good

  9. Seiryu EX will drown you. You can very much drown by being pushed off and not swimming back fast enough. Also if you die in the sky-dodging section yes, your body does flips in the air until your corpse smacks the ground with the rest of the party, and your friends laugh at you <3 cuz you look 100% stupid flipping like that LOL
