Be ware that by release of endwalker there was a huge growth in player population because of the streamers that collectively started playing and streaming this game. The consequence was that Square has it never seen coming which is why they couldn't upgrade the servers in time and why the queues took literal hours to that time. Yoshi P was very upset about that, because there were players (like me) who couldn't play this game for weeks cause they had the time to play only in the prime time which was impossible to log in. That is also the reason, why he gave all players after upgrading the servers as an excuse for this "incident" 14 days of playtime for free.
I would queue up in the morning so I'd be logged in for the afternoon.
I suspect Dawntrails launch will be far smoother like Shadowbringers. Endwalkers launch was at the height of the WoW exodus and streamers playing XIV craze.
That period has passed so well their will definitely be queues, it won’t be ridiculous like Endwalker was.
I think the preorder bonus period will be a good gauge for what’s to come
