Game Journalist Tries To Make A Final Fantasy XIV Guide And Fails Miserably | Xeno Reacts

In this video Xeno Reacts to an article written by Sean Clarkson for GameRant titled “Final Fantasy 14: 10 Broken Character Builds That Are A Lot Of Fun”. How come every game journalist has no idea about the game they are writing about?

Here’s the part where I’d normally link the article but unfortunately it got deleted. Nevertheless thank you Gamerant for the content: www.gamerant.com

  1. "How come every game journalist has no idea about the game they are writing about?"
I swear most, if not nearly all of them are just mainstream normies who graduated off journalism school but couldn't get hired to work for a serious news network or publication, and just went for gaming, because "hey, that's sounds like an easy paycheck and i get to play video games for a few hours a day. no one take this seriously, right?"

but i will give the author this, though; still not as dumb as the dumbass who reviewed a Warhammer4K game calling it a Gears of War ripoff, or not being able to clear Cuphead's tutorial level. it's still dumb, but not the dumbest.

  2. Dark Knight in dungeons is actually super powerful. I was memeing it, being a warrior main, just to see how it played and fell in love with the 25k damage sustain on packs of mobs. It literally melts the double pack pulls.

  3. Yeah I saw this article and read the header and was like well this is shit cause their really aren’t builds in ff14. Not to mention most classes don’t want a gcd lower than 2.40

  4. For shiggles, I checked what the theoretical fastest GCD for Dancer is.
It's 2.21, using Pentamelded Rinscita weapon/pants/boots/ring, Ornate Rinascita Body with pentamelded skill speed, Abyssos gloves/bracelet/ring, Augmented Lunar Envoy head/earring/necklace, and Melon Juice. Average ilvl of 620 so lol

  5. For Machinist, the reason you use the unaugmented Lunar Envoy ring (or the augmented crafted ring; it ends up being the same either way) is for that 2.5 gcd. Doesn't really matter much damage-wise, like you said, but without it, your Drill, Air Anchor, and Chainsaw get wonky cooldown timers and it becomes a real pain in the ass to keep your shit aligned.

Skill Speed is the bane of my existence.

  6. You have to take this stuff with a grain of salt. This is purely SEO stuff designed to take advantage of keyword searches to generate traffic to the website.

Also these people aren’t even really “journalists”. This is probably some guy they found on Upwork to write this article for $50 who has maybe played the game.

  7. Seeing piety on Astro was the biggest cringe sentence to ever fucking exist. The class with 2 lucid dreaming charges and cards that give 500mp every 30 seconds needs more mana? With 90% of its big heal toolkit being OGCD heals with no mana requirements? There is 0 chance a human that actually has played this game wrote this

  8. The only choice i know is crit blm vs speed blm.

The blm can make higher crit with slower casting. Or cast a little faster for a little lower dmg. Esspecial, with the point that mp has no meaning for blm

  9. I am a SMN main, though I don't do high end content, so I don't know all that BiS stuff, but spell speed just feels stupid.

Not only do we, at lvl 90, only have 4 spells with actual cast time (Ruin 3, Slipstream, Ruby Rite and Ruby Catastrophy), if the cast speed gets to fast, you might be forced into Ruin 3 casts to fill out the Bahamut/Pheonix cooldown, and as far I've read, that is just an overall loss of damage.

  10. we only get 6 casts on SMN during bahamut/phoenix regardless of spell speed. more spell speed only gives us more time to fuck up or deal with mechanics and barely at that

  11. Yah try healer. It's literally spamming 1 button /w a dot every 30-seconds. Yoshi really screwed healers up so badly after 4.0 people who came after that build have no idea how dynamic and fun healer jobs used to be.

  12. Not gonna lie, and I might just be bad, but i've never melded my gear. I'm super casual and just play the story and random tid-bits here and there but i've never felt the need to meld because I can do the content I already do with very little problems and no melding. This article/ranking shit puts a LOT of emphasis on melding.

  13. what if we break the game and do stuff we are not supposed to do like having skill/spell speed materias in all slots and/or use armors pieces that only give that bonification. Is it possible to lower something down to 2 seconds?

  14. For someone that ACTUALLY played the game with over a thousand hours, I tried to apply to be a writer for these game websites while looking for work, but it's just sad reading these when they didn't even play the game and they got the contract instead lmfao

Another part of me thinks that this is an april fools joke because…… BUILDS and DIVERSITY in ff14? xDDDD

  15. Just gonna say this article is about what the author finds to be "fun" to play. If he finds these SpS/SkS settings fun then so be it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  16. my only issue with this BiS rant, not everybody has BiS yet or some don't have the means to get BiS, so other gear got to be used in its place. all the damn elitist snobs always saying BiS or nothing is pretty sad, the one that wrote that article's knowledge might be lacking but their correct on the idea of using what you can get as a build till you get BiS. ive seen plenty of gear guides that aren't BiS but are to get that BiS gear if attainable. every time I hear this guy rant he sounds more like a huge elitist prick. crapping on everybody else's idea if they match with his. not everybody has that dedicated group tyo do the right content for best in slot, and PF is a nightmare 99% of the time with prog. limited options means none BIS has to be used, some of which is crafted gear or tomes

  17. 8:00 I meaaan, even for important pieces like the chest, at same ilvl it's not that big of an influence. espoecially if you get lucky. Still haven't got the chest and have the augmented tomestone one, still got my first orange parse like that.
