Floating Furnishings on a Fence in FFXIV (PC)

This video will show PC users how to float a furnishing on a fenceline in FFXIV. The instructions are for PC setup, as I do not use Playstation controls. Feel free to leave comments and questions below. NOTE: For anyone who is having issues with a thin fence, you can try this method on a thick fence first, then switch out to the desired fence!

  1. I tried this myself on a few plots and didn't work at first with the forge fences, but then tried with the Glade Hedge wall and worked beautifully. You can then switch back to Forge after it's placed if your having the same problem I had. Really great idea and saves time! Recommend highly!

  2. Thank you SO MUCH! This was easy to understand. Seeing you move the camera and hitbox exactly where it needs to go was a HUGE help. None of the other videos I've seen from other creators explained that part properly.

  3. Thank you so much! This method does indeed work. I was able to float the Thavnairian Dhow(Aka a Big Boat) close to the corner of the fence after hours of frustration with the normal float method.

    Details:
I used the Hingan Fence (Kura-zukuri) and it felt like there was a kind of “sweet spot” with the camera angle in order to get the storage placement to actually float the furniture. So be ready to have to get a feel for it when your doing this.

  4. I thought I finally found one that works with the PS5, but once I get my deck up there I can't rotate it without it becoming unplaceable. Any suggestions?

Never mind, I goofed and it came down and I can't get it back on the fence again.

  5. Just subbed!!!! With you saying turning off snap to grid helps you move it easier (or something like that) FINALLY I understand. I hope you have videos on the sunken windows that look like a beautiful gardens or lifting furniture. I just got my first house (it’s small but I am so excited). The only thing I have in my house is a house plant lol.

  6. Thank you so much! I tried different techniques that didn't work for me but this one did the job so well! Took me a few tries to get the camera right to align the centre of the deck, but once I got the hand of it I was able to do it again no problem!

  7. Thank you so much for this! I can't wait to try it. I have a plot in the same space as your smithy neighbor's and tried to float my wooden deck out over the outer edge of the fence, but it seems like that's a hard limit–no characters hanging out over open space below. But I think I can float my deck on the side fence, and that's a win!

  8. Succeeded in doing this with the base plot you get from Ishgard housing. Shame it doesn't seem like you can use that to have items floating over others? For certain parts? I've tried getting a campfire to float and while it does work, it doesn't seem like it's intent on sticking around XD

  9. OMG! Ty ty!!! Kept trying with the other method, couldn’t get it to work, but this one worked perfect! I’m in the mist plot 22, floated wooden deck on riviera picket wall. Sending luvs! Ty! 😄

  10. Watched a lot of videos and couldn’t get any – I’m new to housing and play on console, so navigating menus and stuff feels like I’m playing with my feet. This method worked first try. Thanks a lot

  11. I finally won a house yesterday and it’s in the exact dream plot I’ve been holding out for! (*´▽`*) I literally picked it so I could do exactly this with a deck and the little waterfall area next to my plot. (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

  12. Thank you so much 🥹 I’ve been trying various methods without success but finally I’m able to float my furniture using this method 🎉.

Another thing is if you want to change the fence, just rotate the furniture once, and it’ll automatically adjust the height
