  1. Ya'll sang the praises of the Stormblood trials, so wasn't sure what to expect hopping into the four lords side quests – but god DAMN 😁 This was epic. Part 2 up soon where we finish the rest!

  2. The coolest thing about the 4 Lords is how they're taken from lore. First, you have Genbu of the North who controls cold, represents winter, water (of the Chinese Elemental Whee) and the color black. Then there's Byakko of the West who controls wind, represents metal (yes, metal is considered an element on the wheel), autumn and the color white.

There other two are just as cool.

  3. Tamamo Gozen mentioned by the fox is the world boss FATE in Yanxia. There is a bit of a story chain too it, but not 100% what it is. but IIRC it seems to mimic Tamamo No Mae, the ‘real’ nine tails that seduced the emperor of… Japan, China and I think in India as well. Can’t say I remember the story terribly well atm.

  4. I know this is based on ancient legends, but as a former FFXI player, these bosses always make me wax nostalgic for the first endgame content from that game. 100s of hours farming Sky boss drops at 3am in the morning….

  5. The four lords trials are really really good! my favorite was Suzaku (me and my friends call her Suzie), which would be the next one you'll face in the part 2 vid. I had so much fun farming for their mounts in their Extreme version fights. Have fun!

  6. The Auspice temple is one of the cooler places in Stormblood. You'll have to stroll around the outsides where the other auspices are hanging out. Their flavor text when you go near them is pretty good.

  7. Not sure what Soroban was actually training Tataru to do in this scene, but the action he was doing is an actual emote you can get (complete with glowy hands) when you do quests with the Kojin (beast tribes). All beast tribes are side content but they unlock mounts, emotes, dances, etc. You can learn /ritualprayer the motion he’s doing and get the manta ray mount from the storm blood quest but it takes a week or two to max out reputation (3 quests a day). FYI

  8. Fun fact: in the last Christmas event we meet a squirel that can speek. It, too, is one of the 1000-years-old types hence why it can speak 🙂 Dont know what explanation it gives you if you havent played this first… so maybe he explained it already ^^°
I can barely remember this… but Tamamo Gozen of whom the fox speaks is probably the mount you get when you complete all Stormblood trials on extreme.

  9. only the first fight is a dungeon, the other three are trials. in ffxiv there is a pattern that has been followed since HW (i think). after the MSQ is finished there will be three unrelated trials and one MSQ trial. (heavensward – the final steps of faith for MSQ and warring triad / stormblood – castrum fluminis for MSQ and the four lords / shadowbringers – seat of sacrifice for MSQ and the werlyt weapons trials)

  10. I wonder if BLU is still as easy to speed level as before EW… what with the changes in stat scaling. Collecting the spells was sooo much fun :p
If it is I'd recommend it, if not, the leveling may be time consuming.

  11. Byakko's fight was awesome. I remember stumbling across this quest series by total accident so I went to totally blind. Ended up marathoning that whole side quest. Really amazing side quest.
