  1. thank you for this. that was really helpful. even just being able to watch the fight without being in there. but your annotations were great. yesterday i felt utterly overwhelmed. i'll try again later and i'm confident i'll do better this time. again, thank you!

  2. Thanks for the video. I notice that your tank died a couple of times throughout the video on Hansel and Gretel. Is there something that the tank needed to do to make sure they didn't die, like facing the bosses towar5ds each other at any point or? Our alliance raid had the same issue.

  3. >"As someone who has never played Nier I have no idea whats going on anymore"

Lore dump here for anyone who wants it! Spoilers below for the DrakeNier-verse

Most people who have only played Nier also don't know what's going on. This fight is a reference to the final events in Drakengard 1 (and the previous fight was a reference to the final events in Drakengard 3). The events in Drakengard are what led into the events in Nier due to the main antagonists in Drakengard, the Watchers and the Gods, being trans dimensional beings hell bent on wiping out sentient life in the multiverse. They cross into as many worlds as they can, infecting them and linking them to the same spot. That city. Where the Mercurius gate lies.

The Queen Beasts/Grotesques (the kind of watcher/weapon the False Idol is) use their powers of song to kill all those who hear it. The bells you hear are its abstract voice, screaming or singing its song of the end.

There are a lot of unanswered questions about the Watchers and how they function. However this raid confirmed that the Seeds of Resurrection/Destruction are gateways to other worlds through which the watchers can come.

  4. 28:00 – Sorry, but there was just something extremely hilarious about seeing the bodies just flying off the stage in the back.
30:58 – Let me also just say MVP to that one surviving Summoner for ressing one of their Healers to allow them to LB3. Thus allowing them to ress whoever they could save that was still there.

  5. Thank you for not waiting until you had a perfect run to annotate. I not only went in blind, but also forgot to turn off "party in progress" so my first run was only the last two fights. I didn't get any benefit of learning some of the mechanics in the early fights! Second run did better but made a lot of the same mistakes you did. This was my absolute first time doing an alliance raid day one, and I loved learning with everyone else, messing up with everyone else, and (in my two runs at least) everyone was super chill and not getting mad at those who were figuring things out. Thank you for this video!!
