Final Fantasy XIV: The Story So Far | Xplay

Final Fantasy 14 is a blast, but with a decade of content and even more story with Endwalker releasing this week it can be easy to get lost in the world of Eorzea.

  1. An entertaining video, but hoo boy, the vast majority of the information presented is either misinformed, or straight up inaccurate. This feels really hastily put together, to the point of being very detrimental to the video as a whole. Though ten minutes to summarize everything was probably not the best choice.

  2. FF14 is a great game, I just got bored of only being able to play each class a specific way for so many hours without an alternate choice. I love experimentation in classes, and it doesn't provide that at all. "Well play a different class, you don't have to make a new character" just seems like a shallow argument. You may not have to make a new character, but you still have to build an entirely new class with new mechanics/abilities and such, it's the same thing with less starting steps or having to redo the story (which IS really nice on the latter part). I'm not even saying that each class in a game should have 5 separate and Great ways to play them, just different build options would be nice. My favorite part of RPGs is to explore a class in different ways before jumping to a new one, and FF14 just doesn't let you do that.

  3. This skips over a metric ton of lore, especially when it comes to the motivations of the Asians, but it's still a good summary of the story thus far. Emet-Selch, the main antagonist of Shadowbringers, is one of the most compelling and relatable villains in the entire Final Fantasy franchise. There is a reason why people cried when they had to kill him at the end.

  4. Very good with the alloted time. As a veteran player I understand this video isn't to catch me up. This video is to get those that haven't played but are interested in playing without doing a four hour deep dive into the complete story. It's a good mini bite into the story and to play a quick catch up.

If anyone is salty hit me up though! We can talk about it and have a fun time talking about FFXIV the hit MMO!

  5. I don’t know why but I assumed this was going to be a spoof of the, very complicated and detailed story of 14. Instead, I learned some details that I didn’t know even after 600+ hours of gameplay.

    Well done!

  6. Does anyone find it weird that for someone thats as woke as adam, he cant stand seemingly any type of Japanese entertainment? He doesn't like JRPGs, or anime, had to be forced to play persona…I really don't get what his deal is with this stuff. I had an anime character I like as my twitter avi for like a month, and he blocked me preemptively cuz i guess he saw my replying to G4 on twitter sometimes. I said nothing negative about him or G4 cuz obviously i'm a fan. Idk I just find his whole thing with Japanese entertainment odd and unnecessarily defensive. I wish he’d understand that not all anime fans are shitheads, in fact most arent. And that Japanese studios make some really cool RPGs too.

  7. The FFXIV Community is amazing and deserves all the love. FFXIV is one of the best MMOs ever made and among the best Final Fantasy games as well. Praise Austin Creed/Xavier Woods/King Woods/Prof X.! I am so hyped for Endwalker and loving everything I've gotten to play so far. Even if you've never played a Final Fantasy game, it has something for everyone. If you have played any Final Fantasy game, this is the ultimate love letter to the franchise. Not bad for a game that literally had to die and before being reborn.
