  1. The guy in the trailers is known 'officially' as Meteor, he's the guy with the katana and also the male monk in the beginning, he's meant to be the Warrior of Light (the main character/you) in the cinematics.

    Great video as always!

  2. The guy in all the CSs is meant to represent the player or you. In this particular expansion they make this clearer by reliving one of these scenes in-game with your character in the place guy. It just a small thing really but it feels so awesome to see yourself in the “trailer” when you get to that part.

  3. The Twelve are their gods, the guy in both shots is a representation of the Warrior of Light- remember in Shadowbringers how you saw all the flashbacks and him swapping between classes? That's him.

  4. The Stormblood cinematic always gives me cihlls. Well, all the FFXIV ones do really. My fave part in this cinematic is the 6 blows they trade as the camera spins around them quickly. I used that heavily as reference in my own animation.

  5. The monk and samurai are the same guy, the trailer stand-in for us. It's why in the shadowbringers trailer he shifts through archer, to warrior, to dragoon, to monk, then samurai, and finally dark Knight. He was going through every job in order from the original 1.0 final fantasy 14 release

  6. That guy, that keeps reappearing in cinematics while doing different classes – thats the image of a player character, the one u, me, all of us play in our game.

  7. I would have asked for an Endwalker full trailer because it's insanely hype but if you're playing DO NOT WATCH IT, until you catch up, it's very spoilery and honestly, hits so strong because we know what it's teasing.

  8. The Monk from the beginning and the Samurai at the end is the same person, which is, for the trailer's purposes, the player character. He fills in for us. We call him officially as Meteor or more affectionately "Derplander".

  9. The Twelve were possibly heroes of an ancient age, possibly Warriors of Light or something else, who were deified in legend as a pantheon of gods. If they have modern incarnations, we don't know any of them yet.

  10. "this trailer is so epic" just wait till you see the shadowbringers trailer and the endwalker one as well. also the person front and center of the trailer usually depicted as one of the jobs in ffxiv, in arr he was a war, heavensward a drg, stormblood monk and samurai, its your character (the warrior of light) being shown, so anytime you see "this guy" we call him derplander, its your representation in the trailer

  11. It's definitely been said already, but the male Caucasian with the brown hair, while he switches his hairstyle and clothes around each cinematic, represents the Player's character. He's essentially the posterboy for FFXIV and has been in 90% of the game's CGI cinematics. Only one he's not in is the Flames of Truth cinematic. But yeah, his slow aging and getting rougher around the edges represents our journey through the now 10 year epic, longer if you were a legacy player from 1.0.

  12. Man, this makes me want to get into FFIV. If only I wasn't already juggling Destiny and EVE Online, haha. I've heard the story is phenomenal though.

Oh also, if you haven't seen Astartes, can you do a reaction to that?
