  1. Say whatever you want. Villager A took his shot.
To do any less in life, even in the face of the strongest brute, would be to suffice to be lower than what the dogs consider to be the lowest.

  2. Playfriends, we've found our Samurai friend, now to look for a ninja! This is your spoiler free lore comment.

We haven't gotten to Doma yet, but we can at least cover the Final Fantasy references it raises, since many of the key players are being brought up. As was brought up earlier in Stormblood, Doma is a reference to FF6. In FF6, the Kingdom of Doma was a rustic land, and it survived the War of the Magi (the term we use in FFXIV to refer to the incidents prior to the 6th Umbral Calamity), and is home to many samurais. It is ruled by Cyan Garamonde (Kaien in Japanese version, the same as his FFXIV counterpart), who resists the armies of the Gestahlian Empire. His wife & child are Elayne and Owain, but in Japanese they are Mina and Shun. Here in FFXIV, both Lord Kaien and Mina have passed away, while their son Hien (known as Shun when he was young) has survived the Garlean suppression of the last rebellion. It is Gosetsu's quest to locate Hien and reignite the rebellion.

While the Confederacy seem like pirates and brigands, they're chafing under the the pressure from the Galrean Empire. The Garlean's are confident in their military superiority, and see no need to pay the tithe. The viceroy's personal grudge is only pushing it further. But as Tansui notes, firepower speaks. The Confederacy is being choked to death, but a fight would end them all right then and there. This doesn't sound all that different than the villagers of Ala Gannha.

And we meet the Imperial Viceroy of Doma, Yotsuyu goe Brutus. We see that she delights in vicious games, forcing the populace to turn on each other for survival. It is, however, questionable if Gosetsu's actions here are a strategic bargain. The biggest issue is that Gosetsu's knowledge of the region and the Doman Liberation Front would be critical to Durmin's mission. By walking into Yotsuyu's clutches, he deprives our team of this key knowledge and introductions. Let's hope that they manage to get him out of detainment before that knowledge becomes critical to their survival.

We can talk about two landmarks Dan comes across in the Ruby Sea. The big tower is Heaven on High. While that's discussed in the dialogue, we can talk about its purpose! Heaven on High is the new iteration of the Deep Dungeon, like Palace of the Dead in the Shroud. This is an optional piece of content released in patch 4.35, with 100 floors of danger for a team of players (up to 4) to try to fight through. The other landmark is the volcano Hells' Lid. Its peaks are shaped like an Oni's horns, and it is said that a great evil is imprisoned beneath the volcano.

  3. Alisaie really is the brains of Team Punch- she's the only one of the group to actually graduate from the Studium at Sharlayan, though not with as many honors as Alphinaud did. Fun fact, she wrote her thesis on the uses of arcane magic in martial combat.

  4. 23:58 holy crap the skybox there is so good. I would’ve hopped off to grab a clean screenshot of that if I nabbed that scene. I have many such landscapes and skyboxes that I have in my work wallpaper rotation lol.

  5. Wow Dan.

You absolutely nailed Gyodo's voice here, it's amazing.

Also please make sure to drink and rest lots, because that sounds hard on the voice, and I would hate for you to hurt yourself doing this.

Thanks for going so hard, please don't feel you have to.

  6. 21:27 I remember when I got to this scene. I said something like "Because, Lyse, if the Confederacy did fight back, the Garleans would send an air fleet and a week later the cartographers would rename this place 'The Boiling Sea'."
