Today I wanted to do an analysis about the twist that I believe helped make people call Shadowbringers the best story ever told in the Final Fantasy franchise. The twist of the Ascians not being evil completely flipped the story Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers upside down before the release of Endwalker.

Emet is a very good villain of the type and is one of the few XIV villains who can be interpreted multiple ways which is some hecking good fun. The Amurot reveal is so close to my heart and I still go back to his simulacrum to have a wander around and breathe it in. Making a society that way is so interesting, especially for all their principles they're willing to do horrible things in the past and present, even leaving other states to deal with the end times until it's literally on their doorsteps. They're clearly setting up comparisons for Endwalker (look out for common spiral imagery) and I can't wait to talk to more people who are more aware of their legacy, good and bad.
Ascian reveal was huge. But at the same time learning about Hydaelyn being a primal truly shocked me because as a raider myself, I looked forward to the echo buff to help us clear a tough raid. Little did I know, it was actually a Hydaelyn's will that we would prevail. I was no better than those tempered beastmen from the story. When I realized that 4th wall breaking moment, I lost it lol.
