  1. Also, 100% free trial till the end of the first expansion, Heavensward. And I can't stress enough how GREAT FFXIV is. It really is one of the greatest in the franchise and my personal favourite. And I say that as a fan that has been playing the games since FFVI…

  2. I hope this ff14 EW expansion has Nier Androids on the Moon since their crossover, and the theory that the terrible Vanilla ff14.0 game was the moon when a Realm_Reborn swapped planets is true.

  3. I've played FFXIV religiously since A Realm Reborn came about in 2013, I even played the failed original FFXIV. Its definitely not as much of a time sink as WoW or FFXI (which I also used to play back in the day). I've played through being in the military, getting married, having a baby. So hype for Endwalker.

  4. The male twin with the blue "Nu Gundam" looking outfit is a new job/class called "Sage." Which had everyone calling it a Gundam on the live comments when it was unveiled at the showcase announcement. Also, this expansion is heavily influenced by Final Fantasy IV.

  5. That was the same character you saw in the Shadowbringers Trailer. If you go back and watch he has been in each trailer dating back to 1.0 (they pay homage to that fact as he switches job in the ShB trailer). Since you create your own character when you play, he serves as the standin – unless you make your character look like him.

Incidentally one of the characters in FFIV started as a Death Knight, then became a Paladin, and then journeyed to the moon. Some people think that may not be a coincidence.

  6. Hi, I still recommend playing this game if you don't care about MMOs. You can just play it as a single-player game where you would be forced to join other players in dungeons, but otherwise you can 100% focus on the story and maybe sidequests. The base game is just ok, but all expansions are amazing and you can play base game + 1st expansion 100% for free 🙂

  7. Also, if you focus on the story, it's probably around 50 hours for base game/each expansion (including the smaller updates), so it would be around 200 hours ignoring all sidequests. It's still a lot, but each expansion is its own story, so I think 200 hours for 4 FF games is pretty reasonable 🙂 if you do all sidequests, I'd say it's up to 150 hours per expansion, as it took me around 600 hours to catch up a year ago and I was doing almost everything as it was being unlocked.

  8. Guys.
    Don't resist this game.

Just start it. It is better than your favorite FINAL FANTASY.

    I HATE MMORPGs.
My favorite FINAL FANTASY was VIII from 1999 to 2015.
It has been replaced by XIV since the first expansion was released.
Since then, it has reached unimaginable heights and will never be replaced for me.

Don't let anything stop you from fully experiencing this game.

To go from A REALM REBORN to the end of SHADOWBRINGERS, it will easily take you 200 hours, if you are only playing the story.

Play this game slowly, as you would a single player FINAL FANTASY, enjoy the World and Lore.

    Nothing is like it….
Best writing in the series, best OST in the series, best characters in the series, best world and lore in the series, best bosses in the series, best villains in the series, best drama in the series, best humor in the series, most content and most variety of content, oozes of FINAL FANTASY (references to all other games too), it's the ultimate FINAL FANTASY really.

    I envy whomever hasn't played it…..

  9. I'd say its not realy THAT time consuming, if u have a nice party of people (which I believe ur discord have some lots of FF14 players) u can just go thruu the dungeons with then.
Which will skip 90% of the dungeon wait time.

Aside that, it's like animal crossing. U can log in to do side and story quests, or to just do nothing and walk on the world.

I usually take some breaks beetween monthly subs, then I subscribe and play the game almost everyday some 1h to 3h a day. And thats it.

Its hell of a good MMO, And very… side by side on the main franchise references/enemies etc.

  10. >Who is that
    >I'm guessing new enemies
    ffxiv players: …uhm…well….about that………..

Also, this is the usual teaser trailer. This is by no means the full trailer, those are usually double the run time and often has the entire song.

  11. The biggest mistake you can make in regards of FFXIV is assuming it's an MMO. Yes, the game is labeled as so but the MMO aspect comes into play after you finish the Main Story Quest to the latest point. At the completion you have two choice, either continue playing it like an MMORPG such as participating in end game contents or wait until next patch/expansion to arrive. Final Fantasy 14 is much more traditional RPG than modern RPG today. You can play it like a single player, matter of fact, it encourages you to do so at level 70 to 90 thanks to Trust system where you take your NPC to do the Dungeons. Do not be afraid of FFXIV because it's an MMO. Think of FFXIV as RPGMMO instead.

Also, I forgot to add this. I know some of you may have anxiety when it comes to multiplayer game. FFXIV caters around new players. Veterans in the game gets rewarded for helping new players. The game won't even begin such as dungeon until New players are ready. FFXIV has been known to have the most friendliest community in MMO.
There are many who plays FFXIV that are new to the genre as well. They never played online nor MMORPG. One person in particular, I've known her since 2013. She wasn't really geared towards MMO aspect when me met. FFXIV was her first MMORPG and she didn't know great deal on how things work. We have been together doing end game content like raids since then. Matter of fact she is the only original member besides myself that still raids with us for after 8 years.

  12. At a full out blitz, skipping cutscenes, going heals for quick queues, and using all available means of increasing leveling speed, it's safe to say 200 hours real time.

Taking your time, but still sticking to exclusively required content? 400.

  13. Just so you know the person walking on the moon is the representation of the player in every ff14 expansion cinematic. Considering we were dark knight, then went paladin and finally went to the moon.! Hmmm… What does that remind us of. Hmmm.!

  14. I started playing XIV with my boyfriend in Winter 2019. I didn't like MMOs. I had tried FFXI and Tera and just didn't like them, and there's something about XIV that's different. Maybe because I was encouraged by my bf, but you really can approach it as a single player game with MMO elements and I think that strikes a balance for me.

Catch up wise, I've been helping many of my friends get into the game over the past two years. It takes time, but they did truncate the 2.0 (vanilla) story in several places to make it more palatable. The expansions themselves don't take near as long as the base game but, if you're wathcing cut scenes and reading dialogue (which I highly recommend, the story starts ok but gets more and more amazing with each expansion) 2.0 will probably take 20 to 30 hours to get through completely story wise and each expac will be about 10 to 15 hours. Big investment, but honestly so worth it.

And to answer your other questions, we are getting a new Healer and new Melee DPS this expac. Healer confirmed as Sage which is what the flying bit lasers you see in the trailer are. Melee DPS and the full trailer will be revealed in May during a digital fanfest announcement.

  15. FYI, this is the teaser trailer, this is just half of the full trailer we will get in the coming months. The Shadowbringers trailer that you saw was the full trailer.

  16. Time sync for this game is almost non existent. It plays like a single player RPG with MMO elements. Free trial the first two expansions to check things out if you'd like, then you can decide to purchase or not. I'd definitely give it until the end of the free trial to decide though.

  17. Shadowbringers literally the best FF story bar none. If playing the story think of the game more like a regular Final Fantasy but with with co-op than like an MMO.

  18. Might wanna come back to this – They just released the FULL version of the trailer at the Fan-fest a couple days ago, and it expands upon this a lot, more story elements and everything. Also, to get to endgame without skips is a good couple hundred hours, a lot of which is cutscenes and story progression. FFXIV is definitely a Final Fantasy game first, and an MMO second.
