Welcome to my channel, I am a long lasting World of Warcraft player who has, after playing since Vanilla found a new home in Final Fantasy 14. World of Warcraft has always been a love of mine, but as the years progressed I found my time within the game begin to sour.
Thank you to all the love and support I have received from the Final Fantasy 14 community, even if I play like a scrub 🙂
I am very keen to build a community and host competitions with prizes from the Mogshop. Please consider subscribing and joining us all on Discord.
Looking forward for #Endwalker expansion

If I remember correctly, the order of how you encounter Captain Madison is Satasha > Hullbreaker Isle > Satasha (Hard). He gets tempered and changed because of his failures in Satasha and Hullbreaker Isle. Hullbreaker came out in 2.3, Satasha (Hard) came out in 2.4
I like that you are doing these Videos. The Dungeons in ARR al have some sort of self contained Story that i always used to glos over. Nice to see that someone is making Lore showcases for them ^^. Also, i think your Video in relation to Asmon and his latest FF 14 announcement is Spot on.
1st boss has an attack that puts one target to 1hp, that's why you were so low :p
The first boss does Tailscrew on a random player, which puts your HP to 1%, either stun it, or healer has to pay attention and heal you up asap 😉
As you progress in game, bosses becomes more interesting and have hard mechanics. So it can be worth it to skim a guide before going in, especially if tank or healer. Or at least pay attention to chat, in case your fellow players know the drill and share the knowledge! It is a lot harder to wing stuff than in WoW. Have fun!
Very much enjoy these videos and the appreciation for the game's details in em.
love these videos ^^
I wish you could do the Edda route. In front of sastasha it starts, after tam tara you get the first cutscene, after copper bell the second. The next unlock tam tara deep croft (Hard) and it ends with floor 50 of the palace of the dead. With some callbacks in the following cutscenes on later floors.
I really do enjoy these dungeon/lore analysis, especially from the perspective of a newer player. Hoping to see more!
The story of Sastasha EX has a bit of a sad part to it too.
Basically, after you defeated Captain Madison, the Sahagin he was working for weren't happy with this At. All.
So bad that they didn't justhave them Tempered by Leviathan but shifted their aether so far towards water that they mutated.
This is the first time that we've actually seen this happening and it also lays a neat foundation for the lore of what's happened on the First.
And they also did that with every other human they found and made them into the 'Drowned'. (There is a heavy Cthulhu theme going on here)
Now, you probably never went there but in the original area where you fight Madison now, that was the place where you had to get the pair of keys to the captains quarters and stuff. Originally, that area has a few extra hallways to go into where they kept kidnapped people and women that you /could/ free. Nobody does that anymore because it's off of the optimal route through.
THOSE prison areas are the areas you walk through before you get to the new Madison. The exact same areas where you fight the lamias, the female sea monsters…
Square-Enix has fairly much made it canonically that the Adventurers ignore the poor captives.
Yeah, being after snowcloak means it's at least 2.4, maybe 2.5
In the end of Sastasha NM, the sahuagin throws Madison out after hurting him. He was offered as a sacrifice to Leviathan. In between, you have Hullbreaker Island (lvl 50) where you can see the kraken and make him flee from his den. Now in Sastasha HM, you can see Madison lived underwater, transformed as a real monster, but still with his own way of living, so he had lamia instead of human prisonners to be his "courtisan", then he allied with the kraken, both monsters of the see, to have revenge on you. They fail, even the kraken threw Madison away in the end.
The Serpent Reavers that occupied Sastasha at the beginning of the game were already allied with the hostile Sahagin, and were kidnapping people to offer them to Leviathan. They're already tempered, it's never explained how they came to be tempered but the Reavers are shown as one of the pirate factions that rejects the Thalassocracy of the Maelstrom.
All of the 'monsters' (drowned pirates and wenches) are the people you met in the normal version (there were areas where women were locked in the cave). They had been corrupted and tempered by water type aether (Leviathan) that when you kill them they have that moment of self back and say 'Peace at last' or something along the lines. I know that the Drowned wenches scream 'Don't look at me' before you do the killing blow.
Oooh yeah there are neat continuations between dungeons and my FAVORITE is Tamtara to Tamtara hard to Palace of the Dead (full story). The overarching plot for those dungeons actually starts with the first cutscene that shows a party falling apart back in the first missions in Gridania. It’s pretty great actually
The prefix "Drowned" means tempered of Leviathan, Drowned Courtesans and Wenches being former captives of the pirates tempered by Leviathan. The actual appearance of them as Lamiae is a little eroneous as true Lamia were actually Chimerae designed by the Allagans. Best just to think of their appearance as being a coincidence.
You're assumption about prolonged exposure to a primal's aether will begin to manifest by changing their bodies is correct.
Basically, the Sahagin (the summoners of Leviathan) punished Madison and the pirate crew for their failure in Sastasha 1 via prolongued tempering by Leviathan, mutating them all into the forms you see, and Madison blames it all on the Warrior of Light (fair call, all things considered, but he should have had a word with himself about his chosen profession)
As some others have said, if you like this the tamtara hard/edda storyline is quite good. Definitely recommemd taking a look at it.
they are tempered pirates, the longer they are tempered and exposed to the primals aether, the more their aether aligns with the primal they are tempered with. thus it can change their outward appearance. since they are tempered to Leviathan, a sea creature like primal, all the tempered pirates start to take on the appearance of sea creatures like sea slugs, fish and octopi.
