I skipped all the story so I could see if I liked the end game enough in order to get to the point that I would want to see the story. I feel like I have gotten to that point, FFXIV is a great game.

Before you leave a comment about me skipping all the story, I am doing that so I can go back later with no spoilers.
Pretty valid opinion, that's why the New Game+ feature was added in the first place. I'm sure there's also story summaries on Youtube to catch you up to the current expansion. Altho I do think that going straight to 70 is a bit too much.
I'd recommend a new person that doesn't want to go thru the entire slog to: try ARR to get a feel of the controls and setting a bit, then buy a skip to Lv50 and story skip to the beginning of Heavensward, and watch/read a summary of the events of ARR (there's a VERY big event right before HW that gets skipped with the story skip). Pretend Lv50 is Lv1 with an extended basic kit.
Then again, despite all its praise, XIV is not a game that everyone will love entirely. But I can say one thing: you are more likely to enjoy the game if you play it expecting a Final Fantasy game, not an MMO.
Looking forward to you going back on the story.
Fair enough. I don’t recommend skipping but hey it’s your money.
Also, if you like more complexity then you’re in for a ride because dancer is arguably the easiest job in the game. It’s only the tip of the iceberg. If you like lots of procs, give bard a try. It has a ton of them.
It's actually really great to see someone saying that despite "not reading a single line of dialogue still loves the game". It really shows that the game can hold it's own without the story (which is really great by itself). Everyone is different and will have a different focus when playing the game. And yes this game does a really bad job with it's early game, and when you compare it to its current version it's basically a whole other game. I hope you enjoy the game your way and in your own pacing. Have a great time in Eorzea!
Am I the only one wondering how this man moves with WASD keybound to abilities?
I hit 70 in 3 days by story skipping (mon-Wednesday),
YouTube recommendations never fail ;D
5 months later, not a single thumbs down.
It's fine bro we all play for different reasons. You can see the story in "unending story" book in inns
Thought I was the only one okay cool so imma skip Appreciate the vid
Totally agree with you. The story is bloody boring. I suffered through until about middle of SB at level 73 until I just stopped for a while.
This is exactly how I feel about wanting more gameplay over story. Great to see a video talking about this. Youtube recommedation ftw.
Subbed!
Gonna do it the same way…there's new game plus that and I just want to complete the Crystal tower raid for the 5.3 story…
I 100% agree. I have played so many hours in WoW (id rather not count add them all up ahha) but ARR was just too slow. I boosted a character to 70 and skipped to HW. 0 Regrets. Between the ingame cutscene watcher and youtube I knew what id skipped. Playing WoW for so long I was overwhelmed by skipping to 70 as I knew how MMOs worked and can quickly learn rotations etc
i stop playing at 35 lvl
now i want to skip arr
If a lvl 72 dungeon gave you a sense of accomplishment then you did not do the hardest content wow had to offer
Nothing wrong with that, I've been into final fantasy story since the 90s so it was easier for me to get through the whole thing. I'm in Stormblood now and it took maybe 2.5 weeks watching all cutscenes. I'm not a wow player but I came from Runescape which had a cool story too with ridiculous grind (what I like about this game)
I can honestly admit that the patch quests were on some level of annoying but some content you gotta push through, same as grinding even after skipping.
When I did msq I would take breaks to craft or do dailies, grand company stuff, golden saucers etc. There's ALOT to do in this game. Which I figure you know already right now.
The dragoon gets alot better in HW and i feel you man. I am skipping all the cut scenes. I want to PLAY the game not read it. I almost quit a couple times in ARR.
I just recently also AFTER completing RR bought the skip/level boost. I am in the same boat and im getting good at dragon but im looking forward to playing other classes 🙂
was feeling the same way was about to stop, but i saw that we can buy a boost so i get my lvl 70 bard with story skip 🙂 now we can play!
