  1. 10:41 LOL yes.
11:42 Nero if you're looking for praise for repairing Ultima, you are talking to the WRONG people. Also, if you're a "former Legatus" you are not a "tol" anymore. (tol, sas, van, nan are all titles in the Empire, but someone has probably already explained this…)
23:09 "Primitive" and "savage". If the Garleans could just stop using those two words to describe everyone else, peace might just be possible.

  2. omega raids are my very fav raids in the game…
from both a story perspective and the variety

    [super mild omega raid spoilers]
i love that stupid kettle, i love the relationship between [redacted] and [redacted], i love the new character [redacted], and i love some of the AMAZING themes in the fights.
    so happy you're doing it!

  3. And here I thought we'd be devoid of Nero's glorious brand of smarm until the next raid series or some such! An unexpected blessing indeed. (Seriously, his smugness is a thing of true beauty. I've loved basically every scene he's been in from the end of ARR forward, and today appears to be no exception.)

  4. Dan wasn't kidding, the Big Divorced Exes energy between Cid and Nero is palpable, it's hilarious. I can just hear Nero saying "Your /father/" about Cid in my head.

Gee, I wonder what Gosetsu's like as a person, he's just so contained and subtle…

  5. One thing I'm appreciating is just how excited Dan is! It's so evident after every little cutscene, as the pace ramps up. And for good reason! There is so much to enjoy in Stormblood.

Also, it's been a gradual change, but can anyone else feel how tightly scripted, directed, and performed the cutscenes have become since the ARR days? The teams has become so efficient in communicating exposition and character

  6. Welcome back Playfriends. It's time to deal with a Primal. Or at least build a plan. This is your spoiler free lore comment.

Papalymo's sacrifice has bought the Eorzean Alliance time. Time to pull forces back from Baelsar's Wall. Time to organize, now that the chaos of The Griffin's assault has past. Time for the Scions to grieve. But how much time? The enchantment holds, containing the unknown Primal, but everyone knows that should it break loose, calamity will be unleashed. Not, like the big Calamity, but who knows?

3:30 – A new character arrives! A vast Roegadyn of a man (yes, he's a Roe, a lot of people miss this), clad in Far Eastern garb, and someone who likes direct answers. But he seems mirthful, if famished. Good thing we've got a friend still in Vesper Bay.

The Primal's defenses is doing one good thing: preventing either side from advancing on Baelsar's Wall. This means that open war hasn't started, and both sides are allowed to shore up their forces.

This meeting at the Lotus Stand clearly needs some operational security. Nero's managed to very nearly waltz in. He's a free agent now, and brings some zany ideas. The three city states have been waging mock warfare over the Carteneau Flats in PvP mode, supposedly to increase their holdings over the Allagan research materials, and to prevent interlopers from conducting their own raids. But somehow, Nero has managed to get in and get information of the Allagan weapon, Omega.

So we have a game plan! Cid, the Ironworks, and Nero will enter Cartenau with an escort by the Scions & the Domans. And the objective is simple: unearth the superweapon Omega and return it to operational status, in the anticipation of unleashing it on the cocooned Primal. Surely nothing will go wrong. Surely.

I do like Nero's little barbs, it sets his character as a jerk, but also points out the difference in technology between Garlemald and Eorzea. He is not impressed with Wedge's magitek kettle. But on the other hand, the Rising Stones is home to the organization that ripped apart Castrum Meridianum and all of Nero & Gaius' plans. Maybe he shouldn't be too catty.

Dan's observation of of Cid and Nero's "ex partner" energy has also been noticed by the FFXIV community. The interplay of these two really are like an old married couple, and the community loves to play it up.

Yugiri is being recalled, and Gosetsu is here to bring her home. Something is up back in Doma, but Yugiri is adamant in her responsibilities. Fortunately, one breath of resisting Garlemald resolves this conflict. Gosetsu is all for cracking some imperial heads. Let's hope that Cid and Nero are exempt from this.

The Scions Travelling outfit is honestly one of my favorite in the game. It's dyeable, and its relaxed business wear look makes it great for many occasions. Tataru Taru outdoes herself yet again.

    New Cast Member:
Nigel Betts, Mr. Armitage in Doctor Who 8th Series(new version) & its spin off Class, as Gosetsu
John Heffernan, of Becoming Elizabeth, as Nero tol Scaeva, or perhaps has he should be addressed, Nero Scaeva (since he's not longer serving Garlemad)

  7. Gosetsu usually runs on the same rules as Kronk and he is wonderful.

Nero, on the other hand, has always had and continues to have an extremely punchable face. There are going to be plenty of people who disagree with me- Nero is a character you either love to hate or just love. I'd be just as happy if he never showed up again.

  8. Dan/Durmin "pase yourself, we have a lot of journey left, you gotta save up some of this cattiness for the rest of the trip or you two will have nothing to talk about"
    Nero "You underestimate my power!"

  9. Ive been debating posting about this since I watched your comment about Elden Ring being this channel's 2022 content but coming here and hearing the scions talk about grief gave me a good reason to start.
Thank you for the content this year Dan. 2022 has been the worst year of my life and if I'm lucky will continue to be for a long time. I've spent the majority of this year watching over and caring for my wife on her deathbed after an er visit litteraly three hours into the year. She just passed yesterday and waking up to this episode today helped a lot. What I'm trying to say Dan, is thank you for providing content I could look forward to every week while everything else felt so horrible. She adored shadowbringers and while she never tried TOO hard to get me to play ff14 it was nice to be able to watch these and be able to talk about the game that was such an important piece of art for her finally.
And I've only just remembered while typing this that echos of the eye was this year too, I never would have looked at outer wilds without your videos and promised myself to play the dlc myself, but by the time it was out couldn't find the strength while she was in the hospital. Im feeling silly writing all of this before it's even 9am but almost 24 hours after the video is published, so who knows if you'll even see, but I'm just gonna ignore the instinct to discard this and go back to sleep and say thank you.

  10. I decided to play the game over the weekend so went back and watched the earliest episodes to compare (cos I started as a giant marauder in limsa lominsa) and for a second I had to re orient myself to where you were at now in the series lol.
