A couple of months ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to perform Flow at a recital after months of practice and preparation. Some of you might know that I’ve been working hard to strengthen my upper range. This song has been a huge factor in that. It’s not where I want it to be and neither is this performance, but I’m very proud of the progress and wanted to share!
Uploading a raw vocal performance is a bit of a frightening thing. It’s very easy to nitpick and agonize over what could have been done differently after the fact, but it’s a side of my music making that’s important to me! There’s nothing quite like the feeling of performing live. My favorite part of this was singing to a room with not a single Final Fantasy XIV fan and seeing the way that the song still touched everybody. It’s just such an incredibly beautifully written piece of music.
Huge thank you to my lovely friend, Tsukino Crystal, for letting me use her beautiful arrangement for this performance!! My accompanist did wonders with it, and this honestly wouldn’t have been possible without it.
