Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival Was An Emotional Experience

This channel is always going to be somewhat biased towards the things that I personally care about. And it’s difficult for me not to care about Final Fantasy XIV. Unlike other MMORPGs I’ve played, it’s the one that’s the most centred on story and characters, letting you play it as if it’s a regular Final Fantasy game, but just a lot larger, with a much wider lore. The XIV team are massively community focused, even when it comes to the other development staff. And Final Fantasy Fan Festival this year was an opportunity for them to express their appreciation to the entire world all at once.

  1. I don't even play the game, but I've kept my eyes (or… ears) on the soundtrack for years now. Hearing that Soken had cancer and composed from a hospital was quite the shock. IDK how he did it, but my respect for him somehow went higher than it already was. He makes music I like, he's a wholesome and humble dude, and now I find out he's got a heart as strong as you'd see in a Final Fantasy MC!? Epic. And Yoshida just letting it all out when talking about Soken… damn. That's a special bond those two share, and it seems like it spreads out throughout the whole team. When you have an environment where everyone's passionate about what they do and they all care for each other, you get something special; I think FF 14 perfectly depicts that. Heaps of praise for expansion after expansion after expansion, fans love the devs, the devs loves the fans, etc. The perfect storm. All this only just made me more excited for FF 16.

  2. over 110,000 concurrent on YouTube for the keynote at least, and like 60k on twitch when I looked. Niconico was around 20-30k at that same time. It was an insane amount of people watching. People love this game so much and it's not 100% because of the GAME. the people behind the game put their love into it and it's felt and reflected back at them
