My most favorite ff14 character. Venat!
I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t trust Hydaelyn. Even before shadowbringers, but especially after. I like to re-write scenes as if my character has more lines, more emotion and character, and I wrote her has extremely distrusting of Hydaelyn after ShB. The “warrior of light” and “Hydaelyns champion” isn’t a title she reveled in, but learned to accept and fight on for the betterment of her home all the same. But then everything became so backwards. She questioned her life, her decisions and her role. She broke as she realized that there are never any right answers, and that her diety is nothing more than a flawed creature just like the rest of them. She became frustrated and lost control of her emotions when she met Venat, but slowly came to understand her. When she finally understood everything, why Hydaelyn did what she did and why everything had to seem so cold and lonely. When she finally came face to face with her guiding star, she wept. She fell to her knees and all she could think to do was apologize. For doubting her, for failing time and time again. Hydaelyn slowly swept away her tears, and as she looked up she saw her smiling face. At that moment she knew she was on the right path. That it was all, all of it, every single moment, was worth it.
Hydaelyn really was playing the long game for everyone’s benefit.
