Ugh, this looks like so much fun, but I don't have the hardware and I have too much coming up to get into this just yet. Hopefully I'll work something out so I can immerse myself, but for now, I'm enjoying this through Durmin and Dan.
The housing discussion and its comparison to Wildstar reminds me of Star Wars Galaxies, which had a similarly complex, deep, and extremely finnicky system to this. When folks got really into it, though, the results could be incredible. Even better was the fact that player housing existed on the world map alongside everything else, with a full-on system of governing and land-claiming/-rental that led to several huge, fully-decorated, officially-recognized player towns with their own spaceports and mini economies.
That game may have tanked hard in the end, but its social systems were incredible and I mourn their loss regularly.
Hey, Fishing, something I can actually contribute to the discussion about a little bit! So first off, I'd clarify that when Jocat says "you can fish in any water" what he really means is that "Eventually, you can fish in pretty much anything water-adjacent" Fishing in Water, Quicksand, Lava, and particularly fluffy clouds are all on the table for Fishers. Fishers can also, purely for the sake of flex, go after Big Fish/Legendary Fish. Many of these have somewhat specific timeframes or methods by which you can attempt to catch them, and between time and weather requirements, some of these fish can be unavailable for weeks of real life time, only to have a single ~10 minute window where you might have a chance at getting them on the hook. I personally have had relatively little luck with legendary fish thus far, but for those who like a challenge, it's one of the more difficult gathering-related achievements (only about 0.7% of characters have obtained the title for catching every big fish as of Shadowbringers)
I'm sorry I'm jumping on you out of nowhere, but Dan if you didn't watch Arcane yet please please please do. I know you're an animator and an animation nerd. And the animation in this show is just so good it's incredible, all the sweet little details my goodness. And I'm not saying anything about music, sound, visual and character design and storytelling, but those also good 😳 Anyway love both of your channels and what you're doing here 🥰
A couple things I notice from JoCat's screen: 1. He uses Gshade. (Have you brought up Gshade in your vids, Dan?). 2. I know exactly when this was recorded because of the quest on his quest tracker. Thanks Dan and JoCat.
I like these bonus episodes. I'm not sure if you intend to keep doing them as regularly as you have lately, but they're a nice closer look at some of the more flavorful aspects of the game.
JoCat's videos may be called Crap Guides but to be honest, I referred to them after I started playing the game and was feeling overwhelmed and anxious about group content. They do actually give some good general advice in a very concise (and highly amusing) manner
