  1. Final fantasy assasins creed style,

Where as a whisper you go out and be tidus, influence cloud and squall. Or be the background character that manipulates the plot like garland in ff9.

Essentially visiting each FF fixing and correcting issues that the developers never mentioned or that sort of stuff.

  2. I 100% agree that continuing to use the battle system of Rebirth is the way to go. Would most definitely give the franchise an identity, which has been a major issue for the franchise and in recent years.

  3. Yeah I think what the combat system in the RE trilogy is achieving is ground-breaking in such a way that.. I hope it never goes away. My hope would be we continue to see it iterated and improved upon. That said, I feel like it’s almost SO unique, that the presence of it in a different FF or new SE IP would be so immersion-breaking due to seeming so derivative of what Remake/Rebirth achieved. Also, the flexibility a concept like materia offers from a development and functional standpoint when executing that battle system is a unique advantage the world of FF7, specifically offers.. once again, hard to imagine a game or world adapting things like this that don’t seem just, painfully derivative of the RE series.

I guess my hope is that, the battle system we have in these RE games sticks around, but sticks around in FF7 and it’s future exclusively. Obviously we have the 3rd part looming, but if SE were to Remake DoC or, adapt The First Soldier’s story into a major console release or, Remake Before Crisis on consoles…taking the battle we’ve all become familiar and in love with from the RE trilogy, and making it a present staple for FF7 games to come is, imo, a winning strategy.

  4. If they go back to pixilated they can possibly focus more on a grand story and characters that would possibly bring back old fans unless they end up using A.I for development.

  5. Hearing this talk of HD2D scenario, I clearly need to set aside my Final Fantasy Purist mentality & give Octopath Traveler a shot. I like the concept of a throw back in the vain of Final Fantasy VI.

  6. I think they should go full classic with FFXVII. Pixel art and turned based. Have a small team of the OG writers do the most epic story they can with the old school limitation. While at the same time take a brand new team with all the newest tech and let them build FFXVIII. Drop FFXVII 6 months to a year before XVIII and announce that it will be the last Final Fantasy from the old team and announce XVIII by the new team is just around the corner. That way the old school fans will get something to clamour over, and Square will still get to push out their super flashy, high budget modern game.

  7. Sea Of Stars and Octopath Traveller look like traditional Final Fantasy games, at least from a visual perspective. If other series have already taken up that mantle, is it wise for FF to go back to its roots?

  8. They ruined this series when they threw traditional fans away and switched genres. Turn based traditional JRPGs are a genre with their own fanbase, many of which don't like action games any more than some action fans don't like turn based games. Turned based games are a FEATURE that is enjoyed by many, not some problem to be solved. And in this way, square enix changing genres was something that no other series would do because in any other case no one would give them a pass for it. Like changing God of War to a sports game, or Grand Theft Auto to a Tetris style puzzle game. Changing FF to an action series is just as ridiculous, and I am far from the only one that has spoken up about this over the years. But button masher-fans are more numerous, which means more $, and so they apparently care more about making one and done mediocre quickly forgotten games rather than epic classics depending on where the money is at. And I realize the world has gotten VERY materialistic, there was a time when profits were second to love of the art. And thats why so many still play older series and older games and why there are so many retro playthroughs in comparison to newer game streams. Because when money comes first, creativity becomes stale.

    And thats a damned shame.

  9. I'm definitely of the school of thought that branching the series is the winning strategy. There's still TONS of innovation able to be done in the turn-based realm. But at the same time, ff7r's combat is just too good to not hold on to. And they want to innovate in the series, so this would allow them to do so. I would LOVE to see an FF lanscape where there's an x-com-like ff title, and more remake-level titles. Also they should consider banging out some indy-level games with their AAA capabilities. It's a perfect environment for fostering the next smash hit for considerably less investment.

  10. Ok let's face the raw reality… there's so many past Final fantasy concepts out there…get onenof al these and make it a remake blockbuster…the first Mystic quest it would be a killer unique idea however 🙏🎮👍
