Final Fantasy XVI is a game with a lot of pressure on it’s shoulders. This is how Square Enix’s Creative Business Unit 3 can leverage what they did with Final Fantasy 14 and make FF16 a smashing success.

  1. You have brought up great points NSP! I know that FF games have great soundtracks, but I would love for FF 16 to have compelling soundtracks just like FF14. A very unique style of soundtrack for each reagion! I just love how diverse the FF14 soundtrack is. I believe in CBU3. They will deliver on FF16 just like FF14!😊 Thanks for your uploads NSP!😊🙌🏽💕

  2. Seeing the inital trailer for FF16 didn't really leave me with a great first impression. I didn't recognize it as Final Fantasy until I heard the familiar music and saw some Chocobos. Without that, I would have assumed it was some kind of alternative to Game of Thrones.

I'm sure the game itself will be fine, though Final Fantasy's direction hasn't really appealed to me in some time now.

  3. The Fal'cie in 13 are very relatable to me because they look exactly like the interdimensional deities I met one time when I tried DMT.
Also the nobodies are relatable too I guess thanks to the ego death I experienced on that trip.

Tetsuya Nomura is the concept of a drug dealer who doesn't actually sell drugs but sells the concept of drugs through storytelling.

  4. I hope they learned that making 100 hours with poor storytelling and terrible characters is not a good introduction to a good story. FFXVI need to present his world well in an interesting manner with good establishing story right from the beginning. FF games that did that the best were IX and X.

I am still in first expansion. I like it more now but FFXIV ARR is a huge pile of storytelling garbage. I will never recommend FFXIV to anyone because of this.

  5. Wow. So simple but, contrasting Cyberpunk with CBU3's work, highlights just how monumental communication with your audience can be. I definitely underestimated the power of CBU3's delay announcements.

  6. One thing I hope FFXVI does is have encounter variety in its side quests. The bar has been raised by Elden Ring. I don't know if XVI is open world but hopefully it's side content doesn't begin to feel samey and has meaningful rewards for doing so.

  7. Honestly, I hope FF16 takes a lot of inspiration from games like Red Dead 2, Elden Ring and Fallout: New Vegas, especially considering the grittier tone the game is going for.

  8. What we need is where FF15 failed and that is a masterful recreation (re-envision) of the story behind FF6. Where evil prevails at the end and an open world of saving the world ala Elden Ring style of progress (not necessarily the difficulty).

We need a compelling story far away from the cringe melodrama that has long plagued the FF series, SquareEnix doesn't seem to understand what maturity means without introducing some cringe emo elements.

All those girly body gestures of anime women (getting up close to point with the index finger) and the male "grunts" each time they get caught off guard needs to GO AWAY! Like seriously, grow up this childish behavior..

I know nerds will be nerds but times need to change if this franchise will ever succeed. Protagonist doesn't have to be super badass the moment you get to know them, they can grow on you as time passes and boom! they become badass progressively. Like humility can go a long way, just think of Barret, Zidane, Prompto, Kain, Bartz.

Let any kind of love story come as an option that can be skipped, let's expand and move away from any cliche and expected romances. Also please for all that's holy, stop stereotyping personalities! This is so Japanese and narrow minded, girls don't have personalities based on the size of their boobs..

  9. I remember reading many years ago with Yoshida. He criticized Square's tendency to get obsessive about visual fidelity. That gave him great marks as far as I'm concerned. Square often tries way too hard to make their games pretty while ignoring the more important aspects of what makes a great game (especially when it comes to rpgs)

FF13 and FF15 were beautiful, but the stories and characters sucked. But then there's rpgs like those Falcom makes where the visuals are far from amazing, but the games are amazing because the story and characters are interesting and memorable and the gameplay is intuitive and fun. I really hope Yoshida has prioritized story, character and gameplay above visual fidelity.

  10. Critical lesson to learn from ffxiv: Do NOT over simplify and casualize content in FF16. FF16 will appeal to audiences broader than ffxiv’s niche hardcore leftist audience. So the same things tolerated in FFxiv won’t really be tolerated in FF16.

  11. I mean we need to make sure that npc’s are actually doing stuff at this juncture like red dead redemption 2. We are in the ps5 era. It’s inexcusable for this not to happen. We need a lush open world. I need to be able to style my characters. These are musts. Story must be great. Deep lore.

  12. Man, I have high hopes for XVI, more than VII Remake which I would not have thought possible last year, before I played through all of XIV thanks to your videos. Best FF since IX!

  13. FFXIV has elevated the standard so high, it would be unfair for any other in its franchise to even follow. Playing FFXIV all the way thru Endwalker, it really did spoiled me. The storytelling is so well done, going back to other Final Fantasy felt laughable and sometimes annoyed. Thanks to this video, it confirmed me why; Being relateable. I believe that is the problem with other Final Fantasy titles. Even a minor antagonist from FFXIV had me emotionally compromised because his motivation was to keep the child he raised safe. As a parent myself can understand that.

  14. What we need with XVI is a game that carries the soul of FFXIV. I want this game to be so good that FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX and FFX fans throw their favorite games all into the garbage and forget that the games even existed. I want to see these people turning their "FF hate" twitter accounts into FFXVI stan accounts. XIV fans know how good business division 3 is, but single player fans don't know this. The single player fans need the Shadowbringers treatment. XVI needs to be so good that it makes people cry just out of pure joy.

  15. If I remember correctly (correct me if I am wrong) The arbiters of fate were a plot device to justify how the timeline had changed and they are not going to be present for the rest of the parts. Kind of like a device to change direction, except the device is no longer needed if we're no longer changing direction. Weird analogy but my brain can't think of anything atm. Plot wise they're basically those time wraiths from the Flash show that appear when you mess up the time line. Now that they are dealt with they can't really try to stop the new timeline from happening. Realistically the overall chronology of events is probably the same, character dialogue and character appearances may be different (We do get some emphasis on Zack after all, no way they don't do anything there). Won't know till the Part 2 comes out.
