The giant air parade was more of a callback to other Final Fantasies where the ship flew over different locations and the masses looked up to them at the end. But yeah, one would think that they'd just directly fly down to where they wanted from Orbit. But I guess they took the long way around since the main character was still recovering and or unconscious and they didn't want to keep people from worrying that they aren't coming out (as well as allow the WoL to regain their senses). That or the bunnies just decided to or they had no choice due to the programmed route taken back. Also, they used the Rising Stones throughout Shadowbringers (and at the end of Shadowbringers w/ the scene with G'raha joining them in 5.3) since that's where the bodies were cared for and all of the Scions that didn't faint were still headquartered.
