praise butterfingers and dist!
Is so wierd to see you play Final Fantasy XIV. đ€Ł But is amazing MMO. đâ€ïž I Have around 10500 hours and still love it. Too bad i play on EU server. đ
Good job skipping past ARR. As a new mmo player, it took until level 43 before ANYTHING interesting happened, roughly 60 hours in.
FAQ for anyone curious about FFXIV…
You can play the 'base game' and the first expansion for free, with the FFXIV Free Trial. You can do almost everything except more social/market things.
No you don't have to pay monthly, you can use 60 day time cards as and when you have the time to play. No need to set-up bank cards etc.
The 'base game' known as "A Realm Reborn" (2.0) is a remake/relaunch of the original and disasterous FFXIV (1.0). The expansions are as follows: Heavensward (3.0), Stormblood (4.0), Shadowbringers (5.0) and Endwalker (6.0) which will come out soon.
At launch, you could play FFXIV on PS3, PS4 and PC. Now its PS4, PS5 and PC. Graphics had a boost some time ago, later zones look amazing and there's whispers of a graphics overhaul. But c'mon guys, graphics aren't everything.
"Boost Potions" can be bought to skip the less than great ARR storyline but make sure you watch all the cutscenes at your inn room and fight all the ARR bosses via DutyFinder to get the gist of the most basic mechanics. Also, do a tour of the world to touch all the teleport crystal things. If you don't want to skip the story, you can buy 'Job Potions' to get a level 70 character instantly while being in ARR, but that could get messy with so many abilities and not knowing how to use them. Honestly, play legit from the start with a friend to ease the boredom. FFXIV gets really really good from HW so stick with it! đ
Level cap is 50 at ARR, 60 at HW, 70 at SB, 80 at ShB and 90 at EW. This applies to story quests and character jobs – but they are two seperate levels, so main story quest (MSQ) level is not the same as character level. Be clear when talking about progression, in that case.
A single character can be all classes/jobs. You literally don't ever need to make alts, though you can if you want, but its kinda a waste of time.
FFXIV is very story focussed so if you're only interested in defeating enemies, flashy stuff and skipping cutscenes, this game is not for you. In other words don't play the game if you're not willing to READ STUFF AND PAY ATTENTION.
That said, the game will tell you everything eventually but not always as and when you need/want to know. Read tutorials/pop-ups and just take your time. You don't need to panic and ask "when can I do X/Y/Z, when will I get X/Y/Z" because you'll get it eventually. Just progress.
Before playing with others, there's a system whereby you can learn the basics of your role (Tank, Healer, DPS) at around level 15. Look for a green sprout icon next to your city innkeeper and do all the training quests. You'll get some good gear for completing them too. EXP boost ring, anyone? ;D
FF Series stream yes! That would be enjoyable
Well this was a surprise. Chat tried their best to teach you RDM fast. Main thing is reassigning your hotbar layout though(Combo skills next to each other in order). Without that, it's just a bit tricky.
Glad you enjoyed your time with ff14, I put plenty of time into this game it's just hard to go back to it cause I am so far behind.
Skipping a story in ff 14 is the worst mistake a new player can make
At least you skipped its slowest part
Dist would destroy Ultimate raids.
More ffxiv streams please!
