  1. I'm very obsessed with MMO fight design and fight design in general.
Something I really like about the Venat fight is how it foreshadows a lot of the mechanics in the Hydaelyn EX fight later, like the chakram phase having the 1/3rd pizza slice pattern that you have to dodge, similar to another certain chakram mechanic in the primal fight.
Or how the confiteor exaflares in a way are similar to the light waves (obviously no crystal LOS, but think more the final phase of the primal).
Or how True Aero IV is reminiscent of that other phase 2 staff mechanic.

There are a lot of journos and normies who think tab target GCD MMO's are dead or are stale and don't have anything else that can be done to be exciting, but I am a firm believer that you can absolutely make interesting, challenging, different fight design in MMO combat. Anyone who's raided in multiple MMO's like WoW, SWTOR, GW2, or FF14, you probably know that while they all do a lot of copying, they do bring interesting ideas to the table.

I don't think Tab Target GCD is over, and I hope that even beyond FF14, it will be something we can see from future MMO's, lest everything become a black desert or PSO2 copy.
