  1. I want them to remove combat rez for SMN/RDM and make it a Role Action with a long (2 min? 5 min?) cooldown that restores MP on use, and is instant cast GCD.

As for changes to the individual jobs themselves, maybe allowing SMN to choose between Bahamut and Phoenix for their Demi phase instead of having it always be one into the other, so you could better plan the utility of Phoenix phase would be nice. You could even tie a new slate of Egis in with Shiva/Leviathan/Ramuh. Bahamut would get Ramuh/Leviathan/Titan and be the more DPS focused set with cast times, Phoenix would get Shiva/Garuda/Ifrit and be more mobility and utility focused.

BLM could get a spender after a certain number of Polyglot usages. Maybe a trait to make Manaward an AOE to add some utility. Oh, and something to do precombat to make the opener not so clip cringey. Like a magical Soulsow or something to give us a primed instant cast just to get moving.

  2. Yeah, l do want to ask them about healer. Do they think healer should have more complex dps rotation, or the content should just ask you to heal more?
Like, p8s is actually a mitigation check not heal check. Would the following change be a good idea? Genesis flame on hit you for 1/3 on initial impact But gives you a 3 minutes dot that each tick takes away like 10% of your health, so you got to use gcd heal at some point

  3. I think that black Shift and White shift is a neat idea for Red Mage, but I kinda like it as more of buffing their specific black/white spells instead of buffing all the spells (Since Stone and Wind are White magic in this game), and having unique abilities on both ends, like Raise, shields, and cure in White Shift, and maybe a couple extra damage buttons in Black Shift, this makes it so that while White Shift has a bit of a dps loss, it's not a drastic loss over Black Shift and gives you the chance of having more utility to possibly save runs, and maybe even still clear in White Shift too, while Black shift is more risky, but would allow for faster clears if you can deal with the risk

  4. I think the main thing is that endwalker casters are what ffxiv has been like outside of the 2 min meta: It's unbalanced, but unique. None of the current casters really play like eachother at all, something that a lot of other players have voiced their issues with for the whole rest of the expac roles.
We could give them all limited raises to balance them out and let them all have the same dps, and change the kits to be much simpler to make it more fair, but then we've just made what the other roles look like.
I think going forward, casters will never be truly balanced, one will always rise to the top of any said goal, and people should understand that its the price we pay to make it something to discuss and consider.

  5. – For Red Mage I would love to be able to hold 2 Progs for VerFire/VerStone as well as VerHoly and VerFlare giving a guaranteed Prog even if both Black and White Mana are exactly equal.
    – For SMN I would agree to the suggestions of either giving him 6 Summons he has to manage or giving each Summon more possible actions than you are able to do in your window, choosing between weaker mobility casts and stronger hard-casts. Maybe even both.
    – For BLM I honeslty just again agree to the suggestions made: Manafont should give you a buff that auto-activates afte a Flare/Despair/if you are below 800 Mana, and maybe as an option you press the button manually again to force activate it. In addition to that I would also agree to the suggestion that the effect of Lay Lines should linger on you a bit even if you have to move out of them (or that you can summon them to you once per use).
And just so level 50 doesn't feel as bad: Allow me to have 2 Stacks of Firestarter so I don't have to make the decission between Fire 1 and Fire 3 within my friggin Slide-Cast window in Crystal tower XD

  6. I think allowing players to move leylines would be really stupid.
The whole interesting thing about the ability is the limitation on movement that it requires. Finding good leyline spots is the interesting part of that ability. If anything, I think BLM needs more things that require them to be stationary for long periods.

  7. Very cool video. As a caster main and even more sadly RDM-Main in usual, i had a rough time in EW. Sometimes i said to some friends, that i can understand, how MCH was feeling in ShB though. ^^ Abyssos was horrific and the moment where i was thinking about unsubbing the game. Being tortured by those balancing issues was hard for me. I even swapped to SMN in the end and it nearly broke my heart, that i did way more damage on SMN than on RDM, even though i'm playing RDM since it was released. Being not rewarded by playing a more difficult class nearly perfect compared to a "phys ranged", where you need 5 pulls to optimize it, was really hard to accept and it made me angry. I think SE just simply doesn't know, what RDMs need and where the problems are. Like for example the forced spellspeed on gear since the end of shadowbringers which causes a DMG-down on RDM because of drifts. This sucks. And always getting the answer from SE that the balancing is fine on casters because RDM and SMN can rezz is just pissing me off XD. I'd love to see that SE removes the rezz from the casters, so this excuse fo lower damage is just gone and the healers actually kinda have to do their job again. And if they give RDM another finisher i'll personally travel to Japan and slap Yoshis ass. I'm very curious about the pictomancer and if the rezzes stay like it is, i'll probably start on redmage and gonna swap to Pictomancer if the more damage is needed. But i really really hope, they get rid of the balancing between the ranged and melees again. I was missing the option of having triple ranged comp without being afraid of damage in Endwalker, so this is the biggest wish that i have for dawntrail 🙂

  8. I want for black mage a fire wall spell.

He has mostly bomb based spells, where somethinbg explode from a certain point and do round aoe dmg.
That becomes b0oring to see over time. Esspecial, because there is little movements,., while he is casting.
Firewall would give him a line aoe attack, that is something new in his pattern. And, allows him aoe, if the enemy are not standing optimal for bomb aoe (similary to drg or reaper).
Maybe, it could be a dot attack to. By standing for a short while. Similary to Doton.

Or, instant of firewall, could it be a fire beam. Like the ones, whe see in Boznjia and some other bosses.

  9. Hot take: I kinda found RDM to be simpler than SMN

EDIT: As far as additional abilities, I'd like RDM to have the ability to only use one type of black or white mana, BLM having the ability to move leylines, and SMN having the ability to summon the other three ARR primals with even more differences in playstyle that raises the optimization bar even higher.

  10. Playing as a black mage is a lot of fun. It’s my main. Just hit 90 with in. Post shadowbringers patch notes. You cannot beat triple cast, fire 4. It’s amazing

  11. Don't listen to those nerds when it comes to Red Mage lol. I would absolutely love if for the next expansion they did something like add a new melee combo that finishes into VerUltima. I love that I get to use both the top spells for white and black magic in holy and flare. I really want to see more of that type of progression. Also I wish Red Mage had more magic to melee combos.

  12. Hot take: For the most part, the casters are fine. BLM is pretty perfect, everyone loves RDM, summoner could use some more complexity to make the fact that it does the same damage as RDM not feel so bad.

But otherwise, some balance issues are to be expected when the caster jobs are so unique in comparison to each other. Everyone thinks they personally have the perfect solution, but there are no solutions, just trade offs.

if every role had differences like the casters, the game would be more unbalanced, but job identity would shine through much more. It's about what you value.

I think people don't appreciate how difficult it is to keep MMO's or long running games, ever evolving and exciting. You'll never please everyone. The best we can do is try to align player desires and designer vision without sacrificing the core the game is built on.

personally, the best thing picto can be is interesting. I'd much rather a mildly unbalanced unique job than than yet another cookie cutter one that is afraid to take risks.

  13. I really love the EW SMN Rework. Even it is considered as easier to play. SMN really shines in the Micromanaging Aspect of the Game especially in this last Tier. I.e if you just follow the Titan -> Garuda -> Ifrit Summon you might have a Problem in P10s right at the beginning with Dividing Wing 1. If youre the Person to free the other tethered Player you might lose uptime since that is your Ifrit Combo. Same as for Divided Wings 2 when Party Split onto East/West Platform. The Entire Movement section is your Ifrit Phase. In P11s you have Dark Current (the merry go round) most of that Mechanic is also your Ifrit Phase also really movement heavy and you have to play around that. Superchain Theory 2A is also a annoying in P12 p1.

But i have to admit more summons would be cooler especially switching summons between Bahamut and Phoenix Phase.

  14. Black Mage is pretty much the only Caster I don't like (and arguably my least favorite job overall) because I don't care about "skill ceiling" or "total damage" if the job is just flat out not fun to play, especially any time it gets synced down.

  15. The change I'd like to see is for the rez caster to get a hard cast damage spell that shares a cd timer with resurrection. That way in prog you have that res option to learn fights, but going without it rewards you with damage. It also serves to add some complexity in choice and with it being a hard cast you have to have a plan for it to work.

  16. Id like to see rdm get a new on-demand instant cast, along the lines of Xenoglossy or Ruin IV. Relying on dualcast makes mechs with continuous movement a knightmare.

Right now, its other options are swift/accel, enchanted reprise (dps loss), and its melee finisher combo. Adding another more flexible tool to those would make the job feel much better imo

  17. The problem with adding more summon options to summoner is button bloat. Summoner already basically caps out buttons available on controller and the devs have already shown that matters to them

  18. Res for both rdm and smn I don't see going away. For RDM, it is a direct identity of the class for as long as rdm has existed in final fantasy. For smn, the problem is the share with arcanist. While arcanist is a dps role, the res and heal are there to get would be scholars a chance to feel what that would be like. The problem is that the heal loses its identity in the smn kit post level 50 because of the more focused gear for them where mind stats no longer exist for physick to scale on. To remove both from arcanist until they become scholar at 30 seems like a bad idea.

I agree that smn getting another summon would spice things up. The question is where and how. For the 90-100 would seem the best place, but for something this momentous, I would expect a quest to unlock. But class quests ended with stormblood. Maybe at 100 as part of a new capstone quest, but that feels kind of late and meh to unlock then. While someone like ramuh or leviathan comes to mind, a new primal related to the tural instead of eorzea would be a fun change. Outside more summons to spice up rotations, my other big issue is physick. It still feels like smn gets a slight penalty for having it even though it stops working by the time arr is over. So like how dreadwyrm stance changes to bahamut summon with traits, a trait that changes physick to mend or something that scales on int should arrive around level 50. Would we use it? Probably not. But would it at least stop the spell from being forgotten about while taking up a spell count? yes, I think so.

As for blm, I have nothing. Of the three casters, I'm the weakest with blm by far.
