Lol it’s always the mask thing… they don’t stop you from getting sick…
My brother and I had a great time. Agree about the lines… horrid… security was bad… events were fun, piano concert was amazing! I played with my music turned off until fan fest and that concert. It introduced me to a whole new respect for the music.
well the folks with disabilitys had an enough ruffer time my guy their chairs where being taken, they had to be in basically danger during the concerts with whee they placed them
It's really funny to see the kids learn that most conventions are a fucking shit show lmao, get used to it bruv, it will either be a bit better or a lot worse
They don't do shirts for trials at Fanfest. They do shirts at other events like PAX because they are existing fights and they would have a challenge wheel to make it harder.
On Fanfest, you just got dibs playing a new fight.
super immersive sitting in a line to fight p5s for like an hour then leave after like 2 minutes its just like pf
Can I just say I love your Azem necklace? I have one too
Oh no he came back from it who let him out
I went to 3 fanfests so far, this one was by far my least favorite. We had 2-6 hr delays across the board for all my friends getting into Vegas and getting out. One of my friends got T-boned in a car accident on the way to the airport so he couldn't even go. I got in early but half my friends were stuck outside for 2 hours in the heat waiting to get in and they let people in so late that my friends straight up missed the reveal trailer during the keynote and had to watch the stream while waiting to get inside. The heat was also so intense I had to take my boyfriend to the hospital 5 mins prior to the Primals concert because it set off a chain reaction of health issues. My boyfriend and his brother also ended up getting infected with Covid from the trip. It was an absolute mess, never had anything close to this level of chaos in the previous fanfests.
I got called a furry by those kids twice as they harrassed
anyonecoming out of the convention, including following a group around, can relate.JP fan, hi
Don’t get us wrong. Even natives of Vegas (hello from Arizona) hate living in Ifrit’s asshole. We stay because it’s cheap lol. I live 2 hours away and was able to make it and walked the entire time and about died anyway
I'm used to attending conventions, and this one was fun but could have been improved a lot more with consistency and communication from the staff. I was lucky enough to get a 1 PM return ticket on Day 1 Merch line, but I felt bad for people who fell in line way later to find out from other attendees that merch was capped for the day. As for security, Day 2 was better but I felt that there should have been more stationed outside the building. I had a blast in my Hermes cosplay despite the sweltering heat. It's nice to see people state that they had a great time, both concerts were well worth the price. Hopefully next time if I can attend I can acquire your autograph since your channel keeps the ff14 spirit going in between patches.
Awww man, I had forgotten about that awful trailer music xD
But this is on me, I should've known lol
I think I saw you around once, but never got a chance to say anything. Maybe next time! Also, I can provide some insight as to why we did not get any t shirts this year for the battle event. I talked with a staff member at the airport on my flight back home, and he mentioned the company they got to make the shirts sent them like 3 days before the event started, and well, they had a misprint on them. Instead of giving them away, they were told to completely dispose of them. The staff member I was talking to tried to snag a couple but apparently he wasn't able to.
I will only be referring to Las Vegas as "Ifrit's asshole" from now on.
I get why the golden ticket system was introduced and not mad at it per se. But as someone who hauled my copy of Encyclopaedia Eorzea 1 to Vegas in hopes of getting it signed by Yoshi-P, Koji, or someone, I was pretty grumpy about not getting one. Also both times they were doing meets on the event floor, I got there right as they capped the line. Very clear that they weren't prepared for an event of this size, despite this not being their first Fanfest. Overall agree with your takeaway; I had fun, but it was despite the organization and operations, not because of.
Square really dropped the ball when it came to.. well a lot of Logistics. I'm not going to victim blame but let this be a lesson to all con goers – if you have to wait on a line or something seems disorganized, cut out early. The people who had a great experience at fanfest (Xeno, Arthas, Jessie Cox, Grinding Gears duo), surprisingly had fun doing things that WERENT centric to lines. So.. no battle tests and no merch.
I've been to cons and I get that ppl go all this way and want something to go home with but honestly, vibing with folks and taking pictures of cosplayers and going to panels and talking to devs/staff/creators and meeting ppl is the best part of a con – not standing in line for merch I won't care for or previewing a fight I'll see in a few months from the comfort of my own chair.
i unsub a lot of FFXIV content creator, but Kougaon i always like your content dude… to me you're a pretty cool kid. keep up the good work dude.
So you’re saying a lot of us could have casually walked in? 😏
Hey Kou, if you ever find yourself in a similar situation walking through the heat of the summer, an umbrella can save your life! It's personal shade that can help keep you cool. That's why ladies used to use parasols lol
From what I heard, the hired security that is supposed to be designed for conventions didn't want to do their job. I can't tell why but it felt like actual square staff were trying to help where they could and the hired 3rd party help were being painfully lazy. Unfortunately this looks very badly on Squares end.
p.s. Friendly reminder that fans wanted even more people to go. That would of been a big oof right there.
It doesnt help that the vegas airport is just…awful.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us!
Jojo is the superior anime over demon slayer
"not so hot at night" bro it was in the mid-90s in the middle of the night that week😭 i think i slept on the edge of the hotel bed just to have the ac on me
♥
every previous fanfest is rough lol, its mainly a good way to chat with people who play the game more then the actual convention.
Knew that was you lol, on the first day my group was right next to you in the line waiting to get into the keynote. Decided not to bug you since I figured you wanted to enjoy the event like anyone else! But yeah, I must say I'm not a fan of Las Vegas convention center at all, last one was held at the Rio and it was much better ran. Hope I never have to go back to Vegas convention center for anything ever again.
AYO UR AN ARKNIGHTS ENJOYER WTH
We chatted while waiting for Todd (i had the Traveler shirt/Ancient robe) and yeah next time will hopefully be better 😅
Long story short the fan fest was good his thumb nail lied 😮 thats about it.
Come to magfest my guy, it is the only convention worth going to
Your an IRL sprout who just got his ticket to life, i hope you enjoyed your first rock concert 🌱
Honestly, i kinda feel this probably wasn't the best con to experience as your first con. A lot of things you've pointed out KINDA is what you expect at a con. Id be interested to see how you feel if you had hit up 2 or 3 cons before fan fest (of course, the heat…nothing I can say about that. Feels nice celebrating FFXIV 10 miles from the sun XD)
Hey Kougaon! I was the White Mage sitting next to you for the battle challenge! Glad you had a good Fanfest and avoided the post covid. It was nice to meet you. Wishing you all the best! 😀
Fun fact: ifrit's asshole is actually 10 degrees cooler than his nipples.
BTW, it was 116°F street temp that Fan Fest Saturday.
My car’s clutch wasn’t having a good time.
It was amazing meeting you Kou! I will cherish that picture forever! Glad you made it home safely <3333
Security don’t bother cuz they know we’re good cool kids. (Geeks) That’s why they don’t care much.
Worst convention ive ever been to. SE should honestly be ashamed with how ass this event was lmao i enjoyed my time meeting FC mates, raid team etc. But my god do i have buyers remorse for paying shit fan fest related.
Wearing a cosplay on day 1 was literal hell. 0/10 WOULD do it again lol. My FC talked me into doing the cosplay walk, so glad I did!
I felt so much FOMO during Fanfest since I didn't get a true ticket but still had a good time in Vegas despite the heat. Def glad I didn't have to deal with some of the organizational nightmare but also glad people found some silver linings.
Wish I could have seen ya lol maybe next time.
Hey dude, great recap! I was so happy to run into you and Crystahhhl after the symphony concert (sorry for almost getting you run over 😂). Glad you and your sister had a good time!!
Eh, I've been to quite a few conventions (and concerts) so far, and ngl, most of this just sounds kinda…normal? 😆
Some cons are definitely more well-organized than others, but I've never seen a single one that didn't have its hiccups. That's just the nature of any event that involves a shit ton of people. You get used to it, especially stuff like waiting in lines for everything for hours. It's actually pretty fun with friends, you just get to sit around on the ground and chat with them for ages~ Never experienced lax security though. I've lost so many treasured items over the years from security making me throw them away at the entrance 😢
I survived the heat by wearing a cosplay of the Pagos set .-.
Hearing what happened sounds rough. My only convention experience is Anime Expo. Notorious for their long lines. Like one year we had people take 4 hrs just to get in to the con on Day 1
But if security actually let anyone in that’s just trash. Like least with us they make you scan a pass when going in and out. That and not raffling tickets. Pure first come first serve.
You have fans in Elemental DC. ^^
Super glad I got to meet you Kou! My husband and I bumped into you outside the battle challenge and I am glad to hear that despite the bumps you and your sister enjoyed the con and for your first con still managed to have tons of fun! Thanks for doing all that you do <3
bro we stayed at the SAME FREAKING BUILDING hahahaha
