24 million players right now? Or in total of accounts created? There has been misunderstanding of the number of players that FFXIV has!

  1. It legit doesn't matter that there's a "content drought" in FF14 right now, since they've made sure that most of it's content stay relevant throughout the patches & expansions, even stuff that you can do in ARR is still relevant today in SHB.
Unlike WoW where content gets outdated as soon as the next patch is out.

  2. "This game is in a content draught and it's growing" Amazing what happens when you obsolete an expansion when a new one comes out. Yeah there's no new content but it's new to everyone else.

And as I was typing this Bellular read a chat comment saying the same thing. Great minds.

  3. From what I’ve seen , Final fantasy since realm reborn has built on its success and it gets better and better . How can wow compete , when wow it is generally know has gotten worse and worse . Even if wow changed today , why would or should people, trust them . When you can play a game that you KNOW will be Better as time goes on. I need to add an mmo is a community , it’s not just the game it’s the eco system . The streamers, creators , the live events that breath life and add depth . I’m only into FF a few weeks , and I’m gobb smacked , live interviews that seem to matter where people listen . Bands in RL that perform and their music is in game . Streamers and commentators that are melded into the fold as they are part of the community . How can wow hope,to compete its so far behind and lacks the will and it seems the talent

  4. I sometimes think about leveling another WoW character to help my guild. Then I think about the reknown grind, catalogue research grind, soul cinder grind, and endless mythic+ and normal queuing just to get ready to step foot in heroic. It is at these times I seriously consider switching to ff14

  5. As a 1.0 FF14 Player i love to see that more and more ppl enjoy the Game. But on the other Hand i'm really worrying that the Devs cant handle to improve the Infastructure for this massive Amount of Player.

We all saw Servers Crushing when Asmond an other Guys starting and that was at a Time were no Content was available. Yoshi-P already apollogized that due to Covid the Devs cant get new Server. And i have the feeling we gonna see a massive Desaster when Endwalker launches. Many ppl maybe Remember Raubahn Savage at the Start of SB. ShB had a really good smooth Early Access but for End im not so sure it will really smooth.

  6. I have never cared for subscription levels and honestly I liked it a little better when FFXIV was this hidden gem but it is also nice to see the team get recognized. They have earned it.

As far as WOW goes so long as Danuser and Ion are still employed in lore and design decision-making roles no change will be enough to warrant a return.

  7. FF does purge accounts also after a time if the game isnt purchased. Im not sure what the time frame is…it used to be 30 days but obviously it isnt that short a time period anymore. Besides WOW has been using all registered accounts since the beginning of time for their numbers so not sure why the clarification is needed.

  8. TBF. It is a "content drought" but at the same time we keep getting updates for events. We had two brand new/continuation events in Aug and Sept. And this time around we have brought back special events like the FFXV cross over and currently the Dragon Quest Crossover and the now usual Mogtome events before each major patch (great way to get mounts and new items). So even between patches FFXIV is always trying to keep things busy with events every… 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 months. Usually a mix of new and returning ones. Just that Covid time has squished/overlapped some of the time tables.

  9. Someone has to tell me what happened with Preach's interview because I keep hearing people talk shit about it and I'm just here wondering what kind of answers would someone provide to upset so many people so much.

  10. I have 2 registered accounts, one for PC and one for PS5 (under Bellular's recommendation).

The whole account created/ subscription models does seem antiquated though.

I do find FF confusing, but ARR right now I'm finding so much fun. Lots of walking about, but fun!

  11. I wouldn't be surprised if it's mostly players. WoW kind of let botting get out of control and in like WOTLK, you saw squads of Shamans multiboxing in Arena.

  12. i recall in one of the media tour vids, i forget whos, Yoshi was asked about the company executive influence from the higher ups conflicting with development, which he pointed out there wasn't any as he is also on the Board thus an executive himself. might be having a positive effect on things also.

  13. Will be interesting to see if they release the Endwalker purchased numbers, would be neat.
I'm pretty sure the preorders exploded back when the hype gained momentum, and keys started to slip up.

  14. I'd absolutely play FFXIV more if it didn't have a sub fee. That's the one thing putting me off playing it. I'm playing Guild Wars 2 instead as it doesn't require a sub!

  15. For starters, 5.3 was amazing. Every heartstring that they had been setting up didn't get tugged, they got full blown yanked back to back, cut scene after cut scene, for about an hour.

Secondly, I think the fact that FF14 has been out so long is helping, because new players have YEARS of content to play through. If someone were to do the same with WoW, the way they build their game completely throws out the years worth of development prior to whatever the current expansion is, so literally all anyone has to do is what is there in front of you.
