  1. My expectation is the entire housing and glamour systems will be monetized out the ass. Arthars already showed that there are warehouses for item storage you can use gil to buy an item to expand.

  2. after watching arthars play the mobile version i really do fear for the retail version on PC/Consoles at this point. unless SE starts FINALLY some QoL in overhauling some systems here, real fast ((COPIUM talking here)) then with time and worldwide release i think Retail FF14 is going to be so done or cooked. whichever comes first >.<

  3. "if they work on fixing this, then thats 5 years of content we never would have gotten" is the most blatantly wrong statement i always keep hearing people say everytime they try to make excuses for SE on this issue. the DBAs needed to overhaul the gear database are not game designers that design fights or other content by even a long shot. thats not how it works. the amount of built-in evergreen content brought by turning the glamour system into WoWs transmog system and allowing players to actually go and collect everything without having to worry about inventory space would be a MAJOR boost to the games long term content issue. and i know im sounding dramatic here but the fact that Yoshi-P seems unable to convince the SE board that this needs to be a major initiative to fix, and that all they have to do is copy what WoW (and now their own mobile game) is already doing is likely going to go down as one of the biggest regrets/failures of his career

  4. To be fair, it wasn't just a matter of fixing the "spaghetti code" over the last ten years. It was making sure the game ran on PS3 and PC. Then PS4 and PC. Then PS5, PC, and Xbox. All while doing all the normal content updates, expansions, new features, graphics update, etc.
The FFXIV Mobile team just has to make a functioning mobile game from scratch in 2024, with no legacy problems from an older engine. They don't have to worry about it running on any other platforms or crossplay. They don't have to create any graphical assets, music, story, battle encounters, etc. Everything was handed to them, they just adapt it to their engine and take the credit. All while probably not worrying too much about the same labour laws or employment standards.

  5. Ok, so,

I highly doubt that SE will work out the current issues players have with the retail version due to the high cost to redo systems.
The most likely scenario will be that they will port over the mobile version onto the PC and consoles and make it the new main platform.
The retail version will receive one or two more expansions and will be let go into maintenance mode with repeating seasonal events.

As for the new version and its monetization?
A VIP – Pass like most other mobile games have and gacha for Trusts. UR Skimpy Shtola or Erenville will bring in some cash. Payed for instanced housing, offline gathering with premium items, and coming back to gacha, if you max out your duplicates, you can place your Trusts into your house which will interact with your furniture, have unique dialogue and more.

  6. Take this to the bank, and cash it: All of the QoL changes from mobile will be available in the regular game by the release of Beaastmaster. This isn't speculation.

With mobile, they are rebuilding the system from the ground up, and making the modifications as they build. With the base game, it's different because the systems are already built and everything is already connected to everything else.. so one change here can have an impact on something else. Coding is not modular, where you can just take something out and replace it with something new. However, the Square Enix team, who has been guiding the hand of the developer of the mobile version, would not accept any changes that would fundamentally change the experience from the base game. This mobile glamour system would not exist as it does if there were not already plans to radically change the glamour system in the base game. Mind you, the mobile version is still in development, so any changes you see here may change. What I'm saying is that any changes that will exist in the released version of the mobile app will be available in the base game—expected by the release of Beastmaster.

  7. am gonna move to the mobile version idk. all those features, new engine, and no fucking sub that if I don't play for a week that's money/paytime wasted. fuck that. the mobile version look decent, I wish I hope I pray fo rus to get a PC version. gacha games like wuwa or genshin are mobile ut they have a PC version let people choose, I want to play this version on my PC! if you pay attention, animations look different they are more detailed. when you run and stop, how you character tilts when going to the side while running, how when you are basic attacking you can move while attacking and it wont look weird af, floaty. game is much easier to play. finally its easier to recommend this game to friends without the painfulness of buying sub, expansions, weird UI dated look, etc etc

  8. My only worry is the community and management. Say like chat mod and GMs. Not sure if they're going to be good or better as the retail version.
Also how they deal with cheaters and bots.

  9. The wonders of not having to hold together a 10 year old engine with hopes and dreams. If they can do this on mobile, imagine what they could do on PC/PS5. I really hope they're working on 17 in the background and that's why the crap content for the past couple of years.

  10. This mobile game look so good it's pissing me off, that they keep giving excuses to why they can't improve the PC game, but have the time in the world to create a whole new mobile game and make it better.
