  1. I am lowkey salty there were all these brilliant and gorgeous ideas that thought outside the box, like the ghost bride/moon, clockwork, or 'glitch' scythes….but we ended with another dime a dozen black and edgy design. At least it matches the avatar tho

  2. I prefer all of the runner-up RPR weapons to the one that won. The moon one is gorgeous, I love the angel wing one, and the crow one is a really cool concept.
And that snowflake SGE weapon is beautiful.

  3. They really need to replace the team that handles the judging for these contests, for two reasons:
    1) Xenophobia. Every contest, the winners are almost exclusively JP, despite being advertised as a global competition.
    2) Just generally poor taste. Always goes with the "safe" or "edgy" options.

  4. Both winning reaper weapons look super boring. Other jobs get at least a fun one. Both scythes look kind of dull. The sage ones look great. Really wish reaper could get an over the top one like sage's forks and knives.

  5. why are people so obsessed with angel and demon/bat wings? I mean any other mmo have this, and as a result you see like everyone on the server using the wings. 0 originality.

What I like about ff14 is that somehow most of the people playing the game have different kind of glamour and they find ways to be creative. What would be the point of that if every player in limsa or uldah has wings

  6. I wish they could just add more than 2 from each job, some of the other ones are fun and cool designs. I do like weapon designs like the knife, fork, and spoon one the sages are getting, because its just fun and out of ordinary.

  7. Imo the grand prize winners were excellently chosen, particularly the more serious one. It captures the very specific vibe of Reaper itself, unmistakably a weapon made for the job. Some people are baffled that some of the light designs weren't picked, but idk why. If they picked a light scythe, they'd most likely be displeasing more than half of the Reaper players. People play Reaper to be edgy (that's not an insult) so it makes the most sense to pick the edgy design. The blood moon one looks neat and definitely deserves a 2nd place spot, but it seems too niche in comparison to the grand prize winner which is pretty clearly a voidsent/enshroud inspired design that sticks to Reapers specific fantasy.

Adding onto this, I feel like the disdain for the choices isn't because the choices are bad or boring- because they aren't. The serious design fulfills the edgy fantasy of Reaper & the silly one isssss very niche, it's an interesting take on the farm tool scythe. I think the problem is that peoples favorites weren't chosen, and they don't feel like accepting it, so it must be the judges problem… we're probably never going to get a competition like this again because of this behavior & approach to disagreement.

  8. The Needles/Syringes Should of Won.., the Cutlery has like hardly any uses at all..,
but the syringes would go well with any kind of medical stuff, be it good or evil.., and a myriad of uses.

  9. I won't lie, I am super disappointed with the Reaper ones especially. Not because they are bad, they are great, not my style though, and the thing I am most sad about is that they both look like something Square would have made themselves. There were a lot of very interesting and creative designs that won, but weren't grand prizes. At least I love both of the Sage ones, reaper is my job this expansion though.

  10. man… that moon/celestial scythe design not making it into the game… kinda hurts my soul… that would be one i'd be willing to replace the collector's edition Death Scythe glam with. and i'd pay a lot for it too!

  11. hold up… is it possible that the winners will be available as a drop/currency bought item in-game, and they gonna release the rest of the designs seen here as store items? <equips credit card> i dare you, SQEX. i dare you.

  12. I wish Square would take all dessigns and apply them ingame, at least the finalists, however, I get thst modeling EVERY WINNING ENTRY would be hard and they may even need to propperly pay for the dessins and everything from the artists, but damn it always feels bad when some OUTSTANDINGLY AMACING designs… Or is it amacingly outstanding? That a lot of us wish would be in the game

  13. I think the reason we don't have angel and demon wings in combat is because XIV isn't a F2P Korean MMO. The rings on the back for Abyssos give me the same impression, which is why they feel super out of place to me.
