Time will tell whether Delubrum was a better time investment, whilst Ultimate is only done by a small percentage a high amount of ppl watch the progress on twitch and builds interest in the game plus lots of ppl attempt the content later. There's always groups up in pf running them even when they've been out a long time. With how DR savage works it could be dead in a few months depending on future changes.
It's respectable, but definitely raises the question, why is there just not a dedicated test team? It seems very strange to have the testers spread out to different departments together.
More than a few of my friends have permanently quit over this, part of me gets it though, they've really cut down on good content. It's just sad all around.
Yoshi-P is the antithesis of ActiBlizz. He actually doesn't let his workers crunch, even if they offer to.
I wonder if like the testers like rage at each other when someone causes a wipe lmao
Does this mean that Ultimate will be forever pushed back?
Yoshi-P really said "no crunch on my watch".
Glad to see this tbh. I'm happy a producer is human enough to take care of their team and not try and kill them for some content.
It's one of the reasons why I enjoy ffxiv.
As for those people still complaining about the delays….you are seriously gonna whine over a delay in a global pandemic, during Japan's lockdown with an expac on the way? Really? The entitlement on some people cannot be stressed enough. Get over it. You'll be back in 6.1 and running for world 1st anyways lol.
Good guy Yoshida. You know how they say that crunch is failure of leadership? Here we go, leadership position actually making a hard decision for his people. And I appreciate that Square allowed this. I'm sure someone from SE could have stepped in and demand The Ultimate crunch.
Then again, I have to say, SE needs to help them out, you can't have 8 people play test ultimate, that does not seem reasonable to me.
The health of the team > content for the few. Glad Yoshida actually is valuing his team’s health going against the stigma of how their culture will overwork themselves
I respect the decision, but I hope they plan things out better in the future. Savage wears out kinda quickly, and there's really not much else other than Ultimate to look forward to in terms of challenging content. Having 3 for an expansion would be nice, if that means having to hire a few extra people to put their focus on just that then so be it.
What upsets it me most is that people can’t understand it’s living, breathing people who are making this and they have a life too
Makes total sense, way more people want an expansion on time/delayed as little as possible then having an ultimate on time but delay an expansion. Savage for most of the playerbase is already for a certain medium-low % of all players, ultimate being a smaller % of the savage groups, an expansion is pretty much for everyone bar the people who only want the free to play experience with the free trial (and heck even then most trial players I know either buy the game not too long after or leave if it's not for them)
….. so technically World First has always been held by the test team.
You can be understanding and disappointed at the same time.
o no they delayed a piece of content that less than 1% of the people who play the game do. could probably take a week and come out with something that way more than 1% would have interest in doing. alot of the people who do ult's usually dont play much of the game unless its raids
Yoshi telling his employee no is the best. All his employees will work harder for him.
the highest of respect to Yoshi P and what he does. Truly an inspiration to all Leadership as a whole.
I do understand the 5% of the community that does ultimate being upset. However the dev team is obviously going to focus on the expansion rather than that 1 fight which a small number of people enjoy. Expansions are exciting brings new players, brings back old ones and the vast majority that love the story dont get bored.
Dint worry try hard you will get your ultimate.
That response from yoshida sounds very calculated because it's the one response where it's hard to find fault anywhere. You have the good workers who want to work hard and finish building something and you have the good manager who doesn't want to overwork them. It seems to pacify everyone
People are now asking why a game that's so important to SE's business seems to have relatively small manpower and resources. One of the reasons XIV is so profitable for them is that it's relatively cheap (compared to their other projects) for them to continuously make new content for. Even adding one new fulltime QA person can change all the ROI calculations for the game and create endless arguments with Corporate
Well it sucks anybody who’s legitimately THAT butt hurt over ultimates delay needs to grow up.
Working as a QA Engineer, I really really appreciate Yoshida's response. Too often people feel compelled to put in extra time to see something done, which isn't always bad, but can be to the detriment of their health. It happens a lot in development. The fact that oohs-P is looking out for the mental/physical health of his team to not overwork themselves, is awesome and I wish EPMs, Producers, Directors felt the same.
If they promised us DSW plus the 2 ultimates presumably scheduled for 6.X, I don’t think people would be nearly as upset. It’s the fact that an ultimate was CUT, not “delayed,” that is so disappointing.
Hope we get three next expansion
Damn, Yoshi P's team is so dedicated
i am happy that the ultimate did not get released, it only tends to a very small % of the playerbase and gives others more time to do other content and prog the other ultimate's. There is no need to rush this type of content for the few
Had Yoshi come out with this very transparent explaination earlier, I doubt people would have been as bothered about them delaying it.
alot people will die this year who ever got vaccine shoot well if you see they are dropping dead the vaccine made by bill gates wont cure you but will kill you in 8 hour to 12 months wait till you see how many will drop dead this year it will be alot
Honestly, kudos to yoshi p for being like "You can do it if you go into full crunch? No." Tons of respect for him for respecting his dev team like that.
Its fine hope they can optimise it for ew and we could maybe even see 3 ultimates.
As someone that has played Ultimate, I agree that the amount of time needed to test it must be absurd-high.
We never should have allowed WoW babies to transfer here. Their entitled and pathetic. Their poisoning our community with their BS and whining.
Yoshi-P deserves a spot in a video game hall of fame for how he treats those under him.
still doesnt explain why they moved dragonsong war from 5.3 to 5.5 in the first place…
Also how about hiring ppl that are not devs to test the fights so that devs have time to do their job (creating content)…
and dont tell me it costs too much money i mean those guys charge me 10 bucks a month to play the game so…
I kinda get it he cares about his team which is nice… but im still disappointed tho… just 'cause there are contents that should have been cut over ultimates that are rahter "pointless".
This still tells me they really don't care about hardcore raiding generally speaking.
whatever… now or 6.1 it doesn't matter… what matter is the fact that they will always be lazy about ultimates and it will only be two ulitmates (if not another shenanigans
happens) per-expac unless they do three which they probablay won't do. Just disappointment.
Xeno : SE are liars just finish the content lol
delayed means we get 3 Ultimats in 6.0 right?
