FFXIV – Wait… They Just Made A WHOLE NEW Dungeon!?

Mike’s adventure in FF14 continued onward and now he is at 50 he started receiving quests for hard mode dungeons. Being a veteran of WoW Heroic and Mythic Plus dungeons, he expected the same instance, only harder. Oh no, FFXIV pulls out all the stops with a sequel dungeon, which blew his mind.

  1. A great WoW example to use is the Dead Mines. Pre and Post Cata versions are different. One of them is better. If you like the new one, it's an improvement. If you preferred the old one, it's not.

  2. This is good first impression content, but there's a fair amount of incorrect or incomplete info that any regular player will recognize. So don't draw any final conclusions from this video.

  3. I'm sure you've heard this 100 times today, but yeah you get deterministic gear progression at end game that involves the roulette as an amazingly efficient means of getting gear, every expansion. no content left behind 😀 so good.

  4. It's a shame they did away with hard modes in later expansions. At least, I can't remember any in SB and ShB. Would have loved to revisit some of the ones in ShB especially.

  5. One of my favorite things about the expert dungeons is the continuing narrative and how it relates to your personal story as the WoL. No spoilers but later on there's a dungeon where we have to go in to steal a thing, as is kinda typical. So we go in and kill the protectors and call it a day. Later, in the expert version we have to go in because, simply put, we left the door open on the way out and all the baddies got in and made things worse. So in the opening cutscene where the camera pans all around when it comes to the start and shows us at the door rather than have us just standing there as is typical all 4 characters actually flinch like "Oop, shit did we fuck this up?" Such a small thing but so much fun.

  6. Just wait till you get to extreme and savage Trials, you're going to shit yourself lol also Shadowbringers dungeons are amazing, the game actually gets so much better at this point of where you are at.

  8. 3:20 not all of them, most, theres some fan favorites that you dont get if you dont unlock them like at lvl 63, shisui of the violet tirdes, or later at max level of shadowbringers: the twinning. just warning you, those are really fuckign good.

  9. All I'll say is that all these extra dungeons are still relevant even at endgame due to the roulette system, leveling roullete can throw you In any dungeon in the game you have unlocked, so having so many more increases that variety a great deal. So many more chances to not get Sastasha at endgame lol.

  10. A small clarification I didn't see in the video: Most of these 50 Hard dungeons are NOT required for MSQ progression. Some of them, the unlock quest simply completes upon arriving at the in-world location and don't require a clear. They were filler until Heavensward was released, reworks of existing assets that were simpler to develop, and they did not develop them into the MSQ. A few tie into later raid content, like Illuminati in Brayflox Hard are the same in the Heavensward 8-man content, and Amdapor Keep Hard and Lost City of Amdapor tie into the HW 24-man content.

For Heavensward and Stormblood, all of the additional dungeons at what was the level cap ARE part of the MSQ.

There is a duty roulette you can enter, which DOES require some of the ARR 50 Hard dungeons to do, titled 50/60/70 dungeons.

  11. They did it smart here, instead of needing to add completely new locations to the map/create new locals they were able to repurpose it, add lore, and give the players a new experience in a familiar setting. Instead of "yeah it's the same place but harder". Think about if they just gave you that dungeon and called it something different you would just think it must be near the other one and they reused some assets/concepts/designs. I think the way SE does hard mode dungeons like this should be the norm and over the course of our time playing other MMO's we let those games get away with the bare minimum by just turning the difficulty wheel up a hair and calling that new content.

  12. Actually Hatalia is as far as i know not part of the msq if i remember it correctly and thats a level 24ish dungeon i think? And Tomberrys dont have machetes but kitchen knifes its a special attack in classic ff games of them which deals tons of dmg.

  13. This was one of the things that got me to drop WoW for ARR back in the "guess i'll sit in my garrison and que" days of warlords of dreanor. Theres so many times in mmos where beating a dungeon boss doesn't really solve the problem in the setting and you just trundle off to do something else but XIV was the only one that went "yeah that didn't wrap up there, some dank shit is still going down" and it really makes the world feel more alive during that ARR process simply through the idea of "you went away and things happened when you were not around, but we are involving you anyway" rather than beaten content being firmly of the past and forgotten like anything outside a current expansion in most wow imitators.

  14. You've done all the hard modes you can for now, but there are still some level 50 dungesons and trials left before you reach Heavensward. There are SO many dungeons in this game! 🙂

  15. dungeons are just for fun or story so theres no point doing actual Hard versions of them. balancing for 4 players is also not something the FFXIV team finds doable. There's no real need to grind dungeons for gear or whatever even in endgame either

  16. I switched to FFXIV some time ago. Watching Preach cover it now is so great for me! Welcome to our new home Preach! It is such a pleasure and privilege to watch your vids on FF. Thank you!

  17. My favourite one is Sohm Al (Hard.) Normal Sohm Al has you climb the mountain. Hard mode has you start at the peak and travel down and eventually beneath the mountain.

  18. love the fact, your fully experiencing it, with non-pro ffxiv players.. aka new players, with no-clear experienced players
(it's just sooo much more intense and gives up a higher hype feeling, when finally clearing it with new players!.., just don't get frustrated, if Blm can feel a hard early on and in HW.., later it really feels great)

    you got my sub asap!
