idk what you are trying to show but what in the seven seas is this progress bar for 3500 units that fills for some random number? how on earth can i as a new player understand what's happening there? looks like a mobile game bs where you're doing 3 million damage per hit 15 minutes into the game
Yuck! Part of the reason I love ffxiv's crafting is that it has an entire quest line, and abilities unique to the class and you can level it up just like your battle class. While yes wow has this to a degree it's not nearly as in depth. It feels like every recipe or item has some use one way or another in xiv whereas wow crafting feels very specifically catered towards random things. I love both games trust me, but ffxiv definitely wins in this category. There are things that wow does better like the collection system or variety in mounts, but this is not one of them.
The one big thing WoW crafting has going for it is that it isn't intimidating to outsiders. WoW has done a few cool things with crafting in the past but it was always meant to be a supplement for the game's combat. Any more complexity would threaten that dynamic.
The main reason I like FFXIV crafting more isn't for its complexity, though it is fun to learn and master it. It's that it stands on its own without the need for combat jobs to justify its existence. It's also dramatically more rewarding than WoW crafting. You can convert near worthless materials into highly profitable items with a very small amount of dedication and skill compared to the gil you rake in. In my time playing WoW, you usually only make a little more gold crafting something compared to just selling the raw materials, and most of my profits were in the form of gratuity from commissions.
Bad comparison. Cooking is a base profession meaning there are no profession levels skills abilities and special unlocks and specializations to experience.
Guys don't get me wrong, i didn't make this video to throw dirt on WoW. I like WoW and i like FFXIV. Each of this games has its own style and own mechanics, weaknesses and strenght. We can talk about differences for hours but the video compares only crafting process itself (character behavior, progress bar and skills during crafting..) not preparation for it. Every player who played both games can see that in the video are just facts, nothing more. It is what it is. Please be respectful and take care. ^^
nice vid, thanks for sharing
FFXIV all the way
ffxiv all the way

FF14's UI is so atrocious. Huge part in why I can never get into it. Such an ugly interface.
Bad comparison.
