FFXIV Then VS Now

Final Fantasy XIV, how it started versus how’s it’s going these days. I can’t believe its been 12 years. That fantasia hits hard.

  1. Been playing since patch 2.5, we peaked in HW and it's been on a downward slope ever since. Oversimplified systems, increasingly generic classes and an increasingly bland cast with infinite plot armour. Despite all this it's still the best MMO on the market 😛

  2. Honestly I miss the Heavensward days, such a fine expansion, with Incredible theme, and game was unique with tank stance cleric stand and hunts. After Casualbringers I stopped playing,I felt everything lost meaning, especially after they butchered my main class Astrologian, turned it into an abomination.Only reason I may play again is I heard they added Savage 4man dungeons, which was something I was spamming in forums since ARR

  3. I remember the beta. Then launch. And relaunch. First to beat ifrit. Then the end of 1.0 and fought the never-ending swarm demons until bahamut destroyed everything. Then 2.0 launch. One of the OG scions of the seventh dawn, always a scion

  4. Zenos was right. before they were the warrior of light, carry the weight of the entire world on his back. they were a bright eye adventurer, seeking challenge and adventure. they were not unlike Zenos himself. the only difference is that they do not take life carelessly. in a way, they were truly his mirror.

  5. People who think that WoL suffers from PTSD and Depression doesn't understand just what the WoL is. You are not a mere mortal being, no mere adventurerYou never were . You, are Hercules. A god among mortals. You always knew you were different, you just had selective amnesia and now you – we – know who we are and what we are capable of. Something no one can stand against.

Sadly, that's what brings FFXIV down in my eyes. That and the story that continually disappoints me. The bad plot structure, holes and just poor storytelling. It's sad how much better the story could had been. Especially with the benefit of hindsight.

And yet… Next to my computer… Hangs the Azem Crystal and I still play this game… Curious how that is. I made many beloved friends and I love being a mentor to new people, to push them on and cheer their success in the story forging ahead.
