  1. The biggest problem with the strike is, it's unfocused. The second thing is, Trusts exist. PF groups would also just seek out certain comps to compensate.

I get being frustrated, I just don't see a strike as a viable solution. Not enough people will participate, and the game, itself, gives you ways around it.

  2. so like, when even healer mains both casual and hardcore are saying that the healer strike is dumb. Yea it's kinda dumb. I don't think it's needed and this is over blown out of proportions. This has been something possible to do for years and it's not just magically going to go away just because healers are mad that some friends can just not need them. Yea i don't need them cause i have three other buddies who can just run through it with me. On top of it all, i could just run the trusts if i REALLY wanted to so this whole thing is silly and isn't going to do anything. Dungeons have been and always will be a complete joke, as soon as healers stop coddling bad tanks into thinking they never need to use their mit then maybe we can see healers actually getting interactive dps buttons and actually do something besides spamming glare

  3. there is a system in the game that already fixes the problem, they just aren't utilizing it.

    Trusts.

currently the usual catch 22 wen it comes to the difficulty of casual or main pipeline content (which is not in any way unique to FFXIV) is that you have players on two wildly different ends of the spectrum being funneled into the same gameplay loop (roulettes in this case). the elite players will ALWAYS be bored to tears with any content easy enough for low skilled players to complete. you can't increase the general difficulty without alienating these players.

but FFXIV has a system where they can do that. with trusts Square could easily implement an "easy" or "story" mode difficulty for them allowing anyone to complete said dungeon. this would allow them to increase the difficulty in casual content without significantly harming the people who can't do that stuff. the difficulty in FFXIV has steadily become easier and easier (remembering Aurum Vale when it was a current ARR dungeon still makes my eye twitch. three stacks and then for the love of god eat your fruit!).I would like to see it go back to that level of challenge, i would like to have to take roulettes seriously. I feel like the current healer toolkit is actually more or less fine, it just needs to be challenged more. more unavoidable group wide damage more frequently. more off-emnity table attacks that require spot heal attention, more damage in on the tanks in general.

quite frankly, the fact that healers are complaining about their damage rotation is a problem. not because it's boring, but because they should be busy enough that they are spending way more of their GCD's actually healing. it's the combination of "no healing to do" and a "boring damage rotation" that is making this problem visible.

  4. The only problem i see in this video is the stupid comment at 3:28, honestly.
"oh yeah it is", proceeds to not point out anything on why this strike should disrupt the game for other players. lol

  5. I have to say this is the best take on the healer strike so far. I support the notion but i dont think this will be effective on release. If you want to hit the pf community, do it during the raid cycle and people will notice. A few key healing actions needs to be removed from other jobs and i suggest looking at tanks to see where they succeeded and the healer didnt.

  6. You can't paraphrase if you are not going to keep the initial point intact.
I am going to use something verbatim from that post:
"The purpose of the healer strike and this thread is to garner support for necessary changes and adjustments to be made in order to once again validate its place in content that requires grouping, and an equal contributed effort among all members of the group in order to facilitate clears within FFXIV."

The impression I get from this is that the healers on strike recognize that there is an issue with both job design as well as encounter design. They don't want anyone feeling left out, and this also includes tanks and DPS players. The strike is healer specific, because that is the role they main. However, because they are healer mains, they are also the best representation of what is wrong with their role specifically.

Other than that, this video is spot on. Good job!

  7. Good video overall!
    My toughts on it:
Feedback has been given on the official forums for years about the state of healers. If people are so bored of healers and their state that they want to play another class, it's not stupid. And there are people who unsubbed aswell.
So even if it's not effective, what else could the healers do? keep playing healer while hating it? It's been said a lot, no one thinks that this is actually gonna do much, but it's the last attempt before giving up on the game.

I'm mostly checking in to see if the encounter design gets more intresting in Dawntrail, haven't touched a healer since ShB and I go to other games when I want to heal. And finally people are talking about the issues with the game, so I'm happy. Enjoy Dawntrail! 😀

  8. For me healer is only good until you’ve figured out the ogcds to heal the fight and then it’s just glare glare glare glare glare…. I…. Just… can’t do that for more then like 3 weeks😂😂😂

  9. FFXIV is fun for me & that is the only thing I care about! I don't care about the strike or how other people feel about how the game is changing! If it changes into something I don't like, then I won't play it! Play the game if you like it & stop playing it if you don't!

  10. I think people are missing the target a tad bit. There are couple of things. Having cleared raids for the mount on Blue Mage really does put things to perspective such as healers. Without them, we are forced to play decently well. That also Segway into the overall veteran status in FF14 are at all time high now thanks for the game being a decade old. I vividly remember clearing for majority of things in FF14 during launch was very difficult. So in conclusion, without healers, we have little room for mistakes. And the luxury afforded by veterans skill made the game appear easier. Without them, no healer run is can still be frustrating endeavors.

  11. someone correct me if i'm wrong, but it feels like healers don't have a reason to use half of their role actions like dispose, esuna, and rescue never seeing any recent fight design with them in mind.
This would be a good area to start since i don't know any other role shares these (maybe caster dps have dispose but not 100% sure).

  12. To be honest I think the main problem is that the balance of healing in this game is reversed. It should be 80% healing and 20% damage, not 85% damage and 15% healing. As a scholar main I love their healing abilities, but the problem is that you barely get to use them. And majority of the time it is Broil or Art of War spam. If I wanted to play a gimped old school 1 button Arcane mage from wow, i wouldn't being playing a healer. That is my personal gripe with healing tbh. Hence why I play Ninja more and more because the game play is fun 100% of the time not 15%.

  13. Firstly never balance around the weird stuff the top .1% can pull off, so no one should care what some extreme stuff a group went through to do a no healer or tank or no dps group for high end content. Now if the top 70-75 % players can do it then yes it’s a problem.

I know most people in ff14 want nothing to do with a mythic plus type system, that said having 3 difficulty’s for dungeons could be the solution. Have easy aka MSQ difficulty a normal that is more punishing but the vast majority should still be able to reliably do the content even if it means pulling single packs and a wipe or 2 per boss. And a hard mode just ramp the dial up things hit harder, do there mechanics more often with out the first couple steps that “teach”you the mechanic, have it so there is 1 or 2 more tank busters than mitigations and have more than JUST damage for the dps to do, so all 4 members need to work as a combined team to win just offer a few more tombs tones and put like 5 extra item level on the gear or collectible tokens to hand in for a couple mounts for X number of clears per patch.

  14. I agree with the forum post to a certain extend. Your endgame content is poorly designed when doable without one of the 3 core pillars for the trinity system. Besides DRK, the other 3 tanks, especially Warrior self heal actions are far too good. It shouldnt be possible to take on a mob of 8 to 12 enemies W2W pull and live without any healer input needed.

Same goes especially for that Ultimate raid, tho that was high skill ceiling of tank heals, and smn/rdm rezzes to cheese it, on average most players wouldnt be able to do that. Still, like before it shouldn't even be remotely possible.

That aside, nobody is gonna go on strike, not with a new expansion on the horizon. Nobody is gonna give up instant healer ques or make it harder for others to que up. Its rather fruitless in the end.

  15. The actual problem is the player base is big. Many many players are still too unskilled to easily clear even the normal content, the NPC AIs you can run dungeons with now are better than a large bulk of the player base.

You call for making the game harder and what you are saying is delete 1/3rd of the playerbase so that the game is better for the other 2/3rds. Maybe reasonable, maybe not. Id say most people optimally would like a game balanced in difficulty such that it is challenging but not ridiculously so for their own skill level. The absolute top top top players in the game, such as those clearing ultimates with no healers could just as well argue the game should be balanced to be a challenge for them, rendering it unplayable for all but maybe a small handful of players.

Squares current compromise is making most of the game easy enough for almost everyone to complete, and then having harder difficulty levels for people looking for higher challenge levels. A much more realisitic complaint or suggestion would be for SE to introduce a deeper end game with more layers of gearing and difficulty than currently exist, such as a mythic + like system where you can just keep pushing the difficulty level higher and higher.

  16. Ive been on a healing strike since 5.1

Healing feels horrible in everything but the hardest content. And if 90% of my gameplay is gonna be boring then the thing I played for 6 years is basically dead to me.

So yeah, healing strike since 5.1

  17. This complaining is stupid. Casual content is casual. As the writer say "aside savages and extremes", yeah, right… That's casual. Dps rotation for healers is simples cause it's not their role. Healers have two or three damage dealing abilities, and dps have two or three healing abilities. I can't see a damn problem here. Every msq content is casual, you can clear any dungeon with 4 tanks, 4 healers, 3 dps and one healer, 3 tanks and one healer… Any composition works in casual content.

People need to stop bitching out.
