FFXIV: The Morbol Experience 2023 (Act 2 – Alexander Savage)

In this video I talk about my experience getting the morbol mount in ffxiv. The morbol requires the completion of the following raids as a full party of blue mages, level synced, with echo silenced:
Binding Coil of Bahamut Turn 5 (T5)
Second Coil of Bahamut Turn 4 (T9)
Final Coil of Bahamut Turn 4 (T13)
The Burden of the Father (Savage) (A4S)
The Burden of the Son (Savage) (A8S)
The Soul of the Creator (Savage) (A12S)
This is act 2 of the morbol experience and covers the 3 required alexander savage fights. These are a decent step up in difficulty from the prior coil fights however they are still very manageable especially given how much damage we can deal with current spells. I did all of these fights in party finder and was able to find groups fairly consistently on the Aether data center. I also used the blue academy discord server to find other players.

  1. The best small creator returns o/
Can confirm that Gavel isn’t truly that bad, my static has A8S as the last hurdle and we’ve seen past Gavel at least twice, then got diddled by the J Kick afterwards
But with more study about what happens after Gavel and more reps, I think we might have it on Saturday.
Good video as always, congrats again on the Morbol!

  2. 23:17 It depends on the person, I found tanking General’s Might to be fairly easy (I’m the tank for my group, I was forged in the Flare Breaths and Flattens), Might is fairly easy to C-Gate the first Swing and to hardcast DB once he returns to idle from spinning the hands.
I went in fairly confident about my ability to hold Might for forever, so our group elected to kill Time first because of the higher skill ceiling on Time’s pattern.

  3. you saying that the PF is somewhat active for BLU mages is great, but also incredebly sad too
as you're on Aether and raiding there is the ONLY active pf of ALL NA servers
    which is insane
Primal PF, used to be real active, but is now completly DEAD since DC travel…

anyway, random rant out of the way
I havent done BLU raiding, so cant say anything too wow. But I have ran Eden savage on content and they are harsh.
BLU mages can do them, but seeing the world first E12S clear I was gasping at everything. Second phase E12s is quite hard and seeing the blue mages pull it was intense. Mostly since the teams were playing safe so they were reaching the Enrage points as if were on content. Clearing those first lv80 right now is probably the hardest thing it can offer.
The coils and Alexander "Skipping pretty much all late/hard mechs" seems it'll be impossible on lv80 content.
and if any BLUe mages are CRAZY enough to try E10s (since its completly optionnal) I wonder if diamondback can even be enough for the quadruple vuln stacks tank busters .🤔🤔🤔🤔

  4. 20:42 I agree completely that the macro is a bigger crutch that wipes too many parties and this shows. I did the same thing where I just hit my rotation correctly and lined my sting with everyone else using the macro. Especially if there is an issue with someone's macro "Not working" or having bad timing.

  5. As someone who recently burnt out on savage raiding, progging extremes and the morbol fights on BLU with a more casual static has been such a fun and refreshing change of pace. We've just barely started on the Omega raids and it'll be interesting to see how BLU interacts with the more 'modern' design of savage raiding as we know it today.

From what I'm told, final sting gets less and less powerful the further into these fights you go. You also have tougher dps checks and become more reliant on revenge blast (where you purposely keep everyone's health low so you can dish out more damage). You also run into a lot more role-based mechanics where you have to set up priority systems since they're random for BLU. I'm kinda nervous but still excited to prog these fights!

  6. I agree completely with the gavel part. I pleaded with my group (which was a half pf/half static sort of thing) to just do gavel normally because all you would need at that point is one good attempt and even if it was a fluke, it would be a clear, but it turned into 6 hours of madness. The problem with the macro (at least the old macro) is that you can't guarantee that everybody will line up due to the latency, but on top of that you need a few people to crit on the final sting or you just get really close.
