About paying the sub just to log in for one day – now you would have to pay for 60days in advance, thanks blizzard
Always love your tea time podcasts Meoni, like a nice chat with an old friend. Excited to experience Endwalker with you all!
I have some thoughts. I think the new player experience needs to keep getting worked on. I had a friend who quit ARR because the fetch quests we’re too much and the argument of “It gets better as you go along” is just not enough FOR ME to personally encourage someone to keep going. Sure its been trimmed but I do believe they need to keep hammering and make ARR a better experience. What I want is a rework of certain quest lines and such, and implementation of later functions into ARR like Trusts and etc.
I played ARR when it came out on release and I still enjoyed ARR, but I am not everyone else. FFXIV has such an amazing story, diverse content, and a great community. So working and upgrading on the new player experience should be a HIGH priority imo.
Also please they need to make purchasing the game so much easier, like make purchasing all on the launcher or something!
The last time I played FF14, was like 5 years ago and I was around level 30. Just never finished, ARR was kind of rough to get through. Then a few months ago, I saw the Endwalker trailer with no context and it made me want to play again. Because that trailer was too hype damn. I kept being told that the game gets so much better after ARR. Gave it another shot and I just finished the MSQ last week! The game DOES get better, like soooooo much better after ARR. The expansions are too strong lol!
Working on my relic weapon and some raids (all normal!) I'm still a newbie at lvl 80 but yeah cannot recommend how fun this game and the community is.
I admire your reservation with the Blizzard thing. Even as someone who believes that they are guilty, I do stand by the importance of everyone being innocent until proven otherwise. It's quite sorely missed in the era of CancelCulture.
I'm sure the surge in Eureka players also has to do with there being an understandable content draught until Endwalker comes out, with two new jobs to boot. I've seen at least a handful of people doing it just to have the cool Elemental armor on Reaper.
8:10 Did Meoni just make a Trixie reference???
I left a comment similar to this on WeskAlber's video on this topic about a month ago now, but I felt it appropriate to re-post it here with some more current updates/additions:
I tried out the game a few years ago on a free trial because I have a friend who plays it; I wasn't into MMOs at the time, so I got to level 30 and didn't end up continuing. Since then, I got really into WoW (another game I've tried to play many times over the years, but only got into last December since a friend who has played it for a very long time finally got me hooked) and recently after getting a bit bored of WoW due to the content drought and not being satisfied with the current game state (although I definitely enjoy WoW more than a lot of other people atm), I gave FFXIV a try again. I was going to buy the complete edition since it was on sale but my friend had already purchased me a copy.
I absolutely love FFXIV.
I think I started playing around August 23rd ish (?) and have logged roughly 520 hours already. The community has been great to me too, on like day 2 or 3 of playing the game some random person gave me 500k. I know it's not a lot but for some who had just started playing it was amazing. I also love seeing a lot of the same players when I'm traversing the major cities. In general people have been incredibly nice to me and lots of level 80 players have helped me grind extremes for the horse mounts too. All in all it's been a wonderful experience, and I've been LOVING the crafting/gathering professions. I just recently finished Shadowbringers (not the post stuff yet) and am so excited to continue to dip my toes further into grinding for the expansion mounts, learning extremes, learning the other combat classes, getting the relic weapons (which I don't fully understand yet), amongst other things. I've been trying to do everything sync'd first, then do unsync'd to grind, but honestly now at level 80 I don't mind going unsync'd first just to get the mount and eventually doing it sync'd with people in party finder. So many max level people helped me out when I was a sprout and now I really want to help sprouts too. Hopefully when I become a trade mentor I can assist new players with questions they have and give back to them like how so many people helped me when I first started. Your videos, along with WeskAlber, Zepla, and MTQcapture, have been significant to helping me find my footing with the game, and understanding new mechanics.
I love the ease of use adaptations. I would love if the FLYING in zones of ALL PREVIOUS content was unlocked when the MSQ is and remove the silly aetheric compass stuff.
It was fun on my first character. It gets old when you have an ALT of buy a skip for your alt.
What are you talking about. The wow toxic meme is as old as the wow refugee meme I doubt you heard it before ?
Aww Meoni. I'll come on Teatime with you.
What discord can I join to find mentor groups?
Fantastic video, I love the podcast :3
People are probably prepping up for new content, otherwise it will be blocked for them. FF14 will be swarming in numbers for a while!
I am sorry if this question is annoying, but what is your glamour in this video? it looks so pretyyyyyyy >W<
just listening to you talk about nostalgic pangs, is quite interesting. i actually installed wow again a few days ago, just because i wanted to see what my main & 2 alts looked like? holy priest, resto shammy & mw monk (now lvl 50). i havn't got past the char screen, as i'm still umming & ahhing about using my in game gold to just have a peek. started playing wow in 2005 & finally quit just over 2 years ago & started playing ffxiv on & off since the back end of arr. i have no real interest in playing wow as my main mmo, but its very tempting to use my gold to just have a peak at what my old chars are like, compared to my 3 ffxiv healers. i'm wondering if thats because i feel i have put more into my old wow chars, than i currently have with my ff ones?
Quoting fry from futurama shut up and play the game instead of asking if they should
asmogol is incredibly toxic and all their fanbase is toxic and not welcome on our ff14 communities
Tbh im happy playing Ff14.
I love how this game has managed to hook me from as soon as I started it a couple months ago. There's so much to do in the gale and sometimes I just spend a whole day doing blue mage or gold saucer instead of the msq
One of the first things I asked my friends that play XIV when I finally got my SE account back (Ask Taliesin about MogStation lol) was "Is the grind as bad as WoW?" – AP, weekly Mythic+, raiding required to craft anything of value whatsoever. They pointed me to that quote from YoshiP about wanting people to feel comfortable taking a break, and I was like, cue heavenly choir, I'm home <3
Omg that irritating player behind you
A good game, that is good because of good developers, and supportive management. As a middle aged guy, I still play computer games. I do that instead of watching TV, like my wife does. I agree with you FFXIV is much less of a required time sink then most of the other MMOs out there.
Got the last stage of my samurai resistance weapon. I can't put it down! Glad I bit the bullet and did the longest part since you only need to do the longer parts once
Dear Meoni, I love your Tea Time vids, please do more of them!
