  1. “HOW OUR HEARTS SING IN THE CHAOS! Resilient soul, I salute you!” -Susano

This song definitely isn’t a popular pick, but hoo I love this song with the fight. What a boss.

  2. while he doesn't have much in change with his music, he makes up for it in personality. We only know this guy for an hour TOPS and he's such a jolly fellow with a recognizable voice and laugh, in every language. People still meme his lines in game 6 years later.

  3. For some additional context, in Shinto, Susanoo is the god of storms; he is very much a boisterous and raucous sort of storm god, who loves a good tussle and a good party. Susano in FF14 very much befits his mythological namesake, and he spends pretty much this entire fight praising you and guffawing about all the fun you're having.

This entire track makes use of a lot of traditional Japanese instruments, and a lot of traditional musical motifs. It's very fitting that 'ancient festival god' feel.

  4. Have you ever thought of doing a reaction to one of these boss tracks or even multiples but watching the actual fight with voice lines and sound effects? Could be a good stream thing, especially for all the songs you have already done like Tsukuyomi or Hades (that one was Who brings Shadow and Invincible) since as you said, the track itself might be a little boring but when you have all these other noises you might not notice that it has already looped 2-3 times ingame.

  5. The story and character around this song is definitely a 'blink and you'll miss it' and yet the character himself can be memorable as one of the few enemies who just has a good time 'playing' with the player character rather than having some sort of vendetta or death wish. You always see the occasional person who loves a good battle but more often than not those types are 'fighting to win' whereas our bro Susano is just fighting to have a good time. At no point does he have any actual ill will, he's showing you what he's got and expects you to do the same.

  6. I like this song, but I don't feel that it stands on it's own without the fight in the background to elevate it. It always felt like something that would feel more at home during a Noh Theater production by itself, it feels like it needs a story to support it.

  7. This is definitely a song that benefits from the fight itself (and Susano's voice acting). This is one of my favorite fights in the game probably largely due to this theme!! It really feels like you're performing a dance, with Susano as your festive but deadly partner leading you through the steps. It's such a fun and joyful fight. Thanks for listening to it 😀

  8. so susanoo in ffxiv, is the god of revelry, the combat stage is him challegening you to a bout of strenght for amusement. He is the patron god of a newly introduced race that is like a mixture between japanese kappa and turtles. wich are divided into a merchant clan and effectively a ronin clan. he is also the first battle against a god of this particular expansion and in this new japanese style region. so they made it stand out with its unique sound

  9. I feel the music in the Susanoo fight is almost lacking without the sounds of the fight and the bosses deep vocal callouts to go with it, but i absolutely love it. always makes me wiggle and hum to the beat

  10. I haven't been able to see someone talk about it in the comments at a glance, but since you were curious about it, there's a fair enough chance once you hear a song in the game, you're very likely to hear it again.

Multi-player events- which are split between dungeons, trials (8-player boss fights), and raids (there are 24-man multi-boss rushes and 8-man bosses) -each get entered into a roulette once you unlock and then complete them for your first time and you can then queue into to join random that also queued up either for a specific duty or through the queue and each day you can queue up for each type once to get daily rewards (like money, experience, and other rewards), which means people get to re-experience these fights lots of times.

Susano isn't the most common for sure, but I see him frequently enough.

  11. Susano is based on Susa-no-Ō who is the Japanese god of the ocean and part of a trio of siblings with Tsukuyomi the god of the moon, and Amaterasu the goddess of the sun, and the three were born after Izanagi the male half of the creator pair who created Japan visited his wife in the underworld and bathed to remove the filth of the underworld. When he washed his eyes, Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi were born, and when he washed his nose, Susa-no-Ō was born.

  12. Susano in FFXIV is the lord of storms and revelry, which fits the song very well. The first phase the music is cheery and up beat, like something you'd hear at a festival. The second is more foreboding like the brewing calm before a looming storm. And the third is active and and intense like the storm itself, but also carries the tune of the first phase as if to remind you you can still have a fun time.

  13. One of the very few boss fights in the game where you're not fighting some grave threat to the world or a mindless hellbeast. Susano, while technically summoned by the Kojin to fend off invaders, is genuinely just interested in having a good fight with you, as you're the one who woke him up. Upon defeat, there's no malice, no regret or hostility, he essentially just thanks you for a glorious battle and goes back to sleep.

  14. This fight is elevated so high by Susano’s voicelines.
Hearing him call out his attacks and share in good natured laughing. He’s just here for a good time.
Bursting out of the water in the giant form.
“Wild and pure and forever free!”
Dropping his massive sword on the arena
    “REJOICE!”

  15. Such an underrated song in my opinion. Hearing the start of Revelation always gets me hyped, I love the heavy Japanese influence in the song as well as the taiko drums(much like Leviathan's theme) The taiko drums just work to get me so excited given I took Taiko classes for awhile. Now let us Revel!!!

  16. The music was from the eastern Asian influenced areas. The music is repetitive in nature, what is missing is the bosses voice lines throughout the fight to go along with it that adds significantly to the song. There are a few versions out there that have the bosses voice lines and music without any other game sounds cluttering up the audio.

  17. The Stormblood expansion takes place in 2 areas based on the middle east and the far east. Naturally the music for both feature instruments from both of those parts of the world. The drums especially give off a festival feel which is fitting since the boss here just wants to have a good time and happens to involve a friendly fight with you.

Also a lot of the big boss themes have been reacted to by now so…. hopefully more of the world and dungeon music gets requested.

  18. This fight was when I thought "oh this game is SICK" with the phase 2 and Riot. Susano is EASILY one of my favorite characters with his voice lines and the music combined with it, just makes it feel so joyous and jovial. People say its mid because there's no lyrics when Lakshmi, Shinryu (kinda) and the Four Lords all have trials with lyrics, but this is above all of them for me. It's such a VIBE

"He's pissed" nah he's REALLY happy and having fun. God was accidently summoned and his followers and you are both confused because he just want's to fight and party. BRO LITERALLY HAD A WOLF PUP ATTEMPTED TO BE SACRAFICED TO HIM, LITERALLY IN GAME CALLED "A SAD, ORPHANED WOLF PUP" BUT SUSANO SAID "NAH FAM" AND GAVE THIS WOLF THE POWER OF FLIGHT AND BLUE AND RED FUR??? AND YOU CAN RIDE THAT WOLF??? SUSANO'S A BRO

One of the more cinematic fights in FFxiv fore sure. From the jovial voicelines to the dramatic middle section where one player has to catch the colossal sword strike.
