FFXIV Streamer "View Botting" And It Is Not OK (Drama)

In this video Xeno talks about the Final Fantasy XIV streamers who have their stream embedded on sites like IcyVeins and are artificially increasing their viewer count on Twitch (basically legal view botting). Xeno mainly talks about RinKarigani in this video, but there are other streamers doing the exact same thing.

  1. I recently decided to give other streamers a try and I was going through the FF directory. I saw that Rin was the top one while clearing DSR . I thought he had blown up in popularity, now that I'm seeing this video it kinda makes sense why he was 1st. I don't know many streamers for FF outside of really Xenos and Arthars so reading some of these comments I had no idea Rin has had a problematic past.

  2. Does streamer cash up with this bots? Because if not, in the case that the streamer is not even pleasant to watch, real people will not stick around and the person is just ego boosting themself for absolutely nothing.

  3. I think it's a bit shitty to assume people embed purely for boosting views via non-watchers and even more so to call it outright view botting. I'm also ignorant how this whole system works tho, but it seems to me the issue should primarily be on Twitch's end and simply not count viewers who are not on the streamers actual page.

  4. I think viewbotting is bad but the embed issue isn't the same imo. Embeds provide the opportunity for more people to find you, the view count being counted that way is more of an issue with Twitch. Look at being at the front page of Twitch. If you are on the front page, is every person passing by watching your stream? No, but your view count is inflated. However it provides another opportunity for someone to find you. If Twitch removed views from external sources, I still think people would embed because it's just advertising your stream.

  5. I learned a lot from Rin and I'm always glad to see him as a guest on podcasts. This kinda sucks, but this topic is generally wack. Asmon had an interesting interview with a guy who uses embedding and it's not totally black and white. Reasoning being that if you don't do it, you are shooting yourself in the foot, because other people will do it anyway.
At that point, it really depends on your values and integrity.

I think it's obvious whose stream I will be watching for ToP prog though. Good luck Xeems and crew, I'll try to catch the celebrations on Lich again.

  6. I remember those days Xeems…. Also remember when you were small enough that you had some viewers on facebook, myself included. You have done really well to get to where you are brother!! We the Originals may not always be on your stream everyday, but we still support!

  7. While I don't think it'll ever be respectable I'd have a different opinion on it if someone, for example, put time, effort and money into icy veins and it was their website that they ran themselves and managed and all that. If they then wanted to embed their stream there whatever still sucks but its their website and people going there are likely to actually join a stream and interact of they've come for info on something and see the person who made the website is also streaming the game. But icy veins is a collaborative project between various people across a few different games with which 1 single person probably has a very small part of. In that case I really don't like it.

  8. MTQCapture is the best when in guides she explains it like she’s a Admin so simple with the most realistic PF Relatable strats vs happy making strats static friendly and not pf

  9. I haven't played FF14 in the last couple years much at all. I stopped playing shortly after having everything on farm after the endwalker release. but a good while even before that. I knew Rin was viewbotting. I noticed it immediately. back when he would have like 30 ppl, then 3 days later at like two in the morning i saw him with 500 viewers. But the chat was radio silent. I typed in his chat to press 1 if you are awake and still watching and I got banned on that account. I really till this day mainly watch xeems, even though I don't play the game I pop in here and there to still show support. Xeems from day one gave me the vibe of an "earner" I been working since i was 13, and I'm 30 now. Trust me, you can tell the difference between talent and hard time/work or a combination of both in people. I saw xeems grow for a very long time started playing FF before Heavensward release when ninja came out. My twitch handle is SamauriVain, so you know I'm not BSing. Loyal viewers have seen me around in his chat.
