imo it was a bit of a dick move from whoever "told" you that you "have to" play a role/job you were uncomfortable with for a first time fight in the climax of the MSQ (Like, ooooo you got to be trapped in the Aetherial healer Gaol, such a game altering experience that changes your entire perspective on the Trial /s) . Thereby making it difficult to absorb the entirety of the encounter. I'd humbly recommend playing whatever job you enjoy in your future MSQ progression.
