  1. One of the perks about all the jobs in FF14 being so homogenized is that they all do pretty much the same thing so you can just roll with whatever flair/rotation you did the most

  2. I was so scared of playing BLM (even lvling it up felt awkward) that I never touched it again, after I maxed out my jobs.
Tho it does look super cool, I really want to learn BLM and want to be good at it xD

  3. Well I called that order. As a long time smn I'm happy the rework is on the bottom. Rework is a slap in the face of long time smns and personally think smn needs another rework to fix the horrible mistakes they made in EW. Doubt it tho since smn isn't Yoshi p main and will never see the quality of work put in it as BLM has gotten over the pass years.

  4. The problem with summoner is FFXIV's take on it. More particularly the early take, which to be honest, wasn't like nearly any other summoner ever in the franchise. People got used to the insane rotation, and when the devs made summoner an actual summoner that resembles the franchise, players were used to that making it seem dull. Having been around since FF (nes) and played "caller" summoner in FF2(4) I find the current state of summoner amazing. I love the feel. I got very good at the rotation before, but I think it's important to keep in mind, that this is a "1.0" rework per se. It's likely the most simplistic version of it and will be added on significantly in the future.

Personally, I don't care, I just want to see Ramuh, Leviathan, and Shiva added to the mix, maybe during the phoenix phase. I'm hoping for this next xpac.

  5. I never really play the caster in other games, but these are 3 of my favorite jobs in 14. Each one is so different and has its own strengths and weaknesses and a lot of times you can pick which one you want to use by what mood your in. I love all three of them.

  6. Big disagree about RDM having the least mobility. Not only do they have dual casts on every spell but they also have 2 accelerations, a swiftcast, and a huge 12.5 secs of free movement for every melee combo they do. Even if you used your 2 triplecasts, swift cast, thunder proc, & ice paradox as BLM, a RDM could easily move as much just doing 2 melee combos and STILL have other movement tools in stock

  7. i main both smn and blm mostly
Smn for its simple rotation which make is so i can focus on boss mechanics and not so much on rotations especially if its a fight I’m new to
Blm for when i know a fight and can proceed to nuke the boss into there dead with big explosions over and over

  8. Legit question: does anyone actually look at the flying damage numbers in real time during a fight? I find my attention is usually spread between mechanics and making sure I’m doing my rotation properly. To me, the flying text is just noise and I have it mostly turned off other than the pop up telling me my target is invulnerable as a reminder to not bother attacking at that point.

The only way I know if I’m doing BIG DAMAGE is to check my abacus after the fight.

  9. i tried all three of the casters and only liked SMN really
i've always preferred having (mostly) set rotations where i can turn my brain off, focus on boss mechanics, and remember a thing ever minute or two which SMN provides in a more straightforward way (Bahamut/Phoenix on minute windows, Searing Light every 2 min with Bahamut, etc.)
BLM damage is nuts but i just can't get used to it's sit still for 80% of the fight style
RDM i just couldn't get used to at all for some reason
SMN feels more like a phys range in most cases and i personally prefer that since I enjoy using BRD too

  10. I think smn is a great caster to choose when you are learning new bosses, but it is a bit too braindead. I am the SMN that you mentioned that tends to just play other things instead.

  11. SMN almost always wins in normal dungeon content, for free considering how easy it is to play. I recently levelled every single DPS to 90 and unless I was SAM, SMN was always the hardest DPS to match in damage no matter the level. Pretty depressing when you're a BLM and you have to work four times as hard as them only to deal less damage. So it begs the question, why even bother? I always give commendations to BLM bros because I know how hard their lives are now.

  12. Weird that out of these 3, the only one that actually feels like a caster is BLM, and all the cons listed sound like pros instead, it's one of the few classes in the game with a lot of nuances and chances to optimize and play around differently, without being overly complicated. It's so well designed, not a surprise, being the main job of the director of the game. Wish more classes could have that amount of depth

  13. in my personal opinion in only regular content, if your in a mood to dps then BLM hands down. in high end content savage, extreme none of the above. just because a RDM is ask to raise redmage is half healer. and SMN is for roll players only they pretend there playing pojemon.
