It seems like Square Enix needs to invest in more servers!
9.1 is the best patch to ever happen to FF14 and Square Enix smells blood. Answering 44 unscripted questions by the lead directors from non famous people who ALREADY got to ask their set of questions last month is just nuts.

As a reminder, when WoW launched in 2004 the game sold not for similar reasons. Yes at the time it was still a box of CDs, but the shortage was lack of disks. So many sold they stopped shipping briefly and spun up 6 months of server expansion right away.
Edit: As of this message Primal and Crystal have one server open each. All other NA realms are closed for character creation.
It's always easy to tell when SE is at server max capacity because they implement auto afk kick timers on the server for everyone who is logged in on that server.

Hell yeah, just bought my ff14 complete edition yesterday. 😁 Plus in full rush hours there are queues for log in. That's amazing 🤩
when i saw the title of the thumbnail, i thought the digital pre-orders sold out (in confusion), then later in the video hearing its just the complete edition gave me a sort of sigh of relief
I think SE PR team mentioned to PCGamer I think it was, that t his was unintentional. Might have just been a case of accidentally running out of keys because whatever trigger they had to warn them didn't trigger or something. It's not like the store is well designed anyway.
On the question about whether a limit/gate was ever placed to prevent new players from purchasing the game, yes, it has happened at the launch of ARR. They had to stop the distribution of the game briefly while they fixed/increased the servers.

I had a 500 ppl que to get into Gilgamesh tonight the most I’ve ever had before this was like 40 what is goin on lol
If youre a new player jumping into the game, when you make your character for thr first time and the server you want to play on is full, make a toon somewhere else, and go thru the initial intro until you control your character. Then log out, and change server in the top right to the one you want to play on, then create another toon. This is how I got about 30 of my WoW friends onto my server (Primal-Hyperion) even tho its full and won't let you start there as a new acct.
ARRs launch was similar to this, they had to emergency create servers in NA to manage.
Made my char back in 2019 when I got fed up with Blizz. Glad to see my brethren coming around, hope the transition is smooth and fun for them
I remember sales being down early into ARR's life and having to buy a physical copy of the game to play with my friends.
Couldn't they solve the toxic player issue by building a Canadian data centre?
I have the greatest respect for a business that rather turns away potential customers than disappoint existing ones.

Last time i can recall this happening was when 2.0 launched, its the reason i started 2 weeks after release as they simply stopped selling the game as servers were exploding(iirc there was 1.5mil players trying to log-in on day1 and that crashed most servers).
On toxicity: remember, you do have a blacklist. If you put someone on that list, you never interact with them again.
I’m a truck driver myself, I can confirm that things slowed Down very little for about 1-3ish months last year, then has been balls to the wall since.

This is honestly not surprising. I logged into FFXIV last night and the servers were so slammed that my character wouldn't even load. When I went to log into Faerie, I was in a queue of about 360. I don't think I've ever seen queue numbers that high, not even during Shadowbringers launch day, which was already flippin' nuts as I never before experienced server queues even once before that (and before Shadowbringers, I put in a good 6-800 hours in the game casually over a few years). It's funny how Squeenix can't even make enough keys for the game and even the digital version sold out. xD
Getting further into this video, I am suddenly reminded of when I had to wake up at an obscene hour of the morning to get lucky enough to get a ticket to be able to make an account and join a server in Kantai Collection. It was a meme for a few years that just getting a ticket to play within a server was a literal game in and of itself. It was brutal for a lot of people. I knew some that tried for months, once a week, to try to play the game. I was one of them lucky few who was able to get into the game first try about 7-10 months after the game's initial launch. It was hilarious, but understandable. Their servers could only handle so many people, so they had to keep things limited to a few thousand slots a week so that they wouldn't fry their servers, which were already overloaded as it was.
How about a returning guide for previous WOW refugees. ? Was only able to finish 5.0.
I managed to create a new character on one of the US servers that offered increased exp to level up.
Damn I got lucky because I bought all the expansions 4 days ago 😅
The thing I fear most is the botters trying to move from WoW over to FF14

I decided to give ff14 a shot because I have been watching asmongold play it and have fun if it wasn't for him would never have checked the game out Im considering playing it when hype dies down a little
Hope now that they got good money injection thye to some extent start chaning some of the plans and like start paying extra money so that certain things get don equicker like new servers for each region or the regions that are heavly affected/soon to be heavly affected.
I hear Warcraft is going to list a bunch of servers on Craigslist, no one plays on them anymore
lol the wait times to login will probably take longer. i hope we get more healers never have enough healers so many choose dps and thus dps has to wait for hours for a dungeon.
