  1. This is why I prefer WoW. FFXIV always has so much BS drama over the little things… Who the hell cares if people are using mods to put out "illegal" waymarkers. Or even using them to help clear bosses. Does this impact you? No… This game doesn't have any official eSports, so the devs not allowing mods is stupid.

Also, that Robinhood analogy… It only works if Robinhood is a man. If you were to give him boobs, then it's very likely Robinhood wouldn't be taking any risks by robbing the bank. It's 2022. Having boobs is a get out jail free card.

  2. "Why would they penalize the person and turn around and add the feature? Isn't that hypocritical?"

No. It's honest. It's not a binary choice between "player right, devs wrong" and "player wrong, devs right". Both parties can be in the wrong.

In order to be fair, the player has to be punished for breaking TOS, even if it's just adding a strike or whatever.

However, that doesn't mean the devs can't separately admit that they need to improve the system. I'm not sure what's gotten into people, but the devs are going to make mistakes. Some of those will even make it to release. Let them fix it without crucifying them.

  3. This is the best example of how easily they can audit the duty finder servers. If anyone is surprised by being "caught" or how fast they track the origin is beyond me. They know what dps min and max looks like..and its pretty easy to see a blm that is spamming casts Fire IV for the entire fight coughs

There's been people cheating since the days of ARR, and normally its very apparent who these individuals are. Sadly some even built streaming/content creating off of this, and are still in the community till this day.

  4. they are spending so much brain power and dev time to fight something like illegal waymark…illegal waymark really? the hate for 3rd party program is going a bit too far in my opinion…devs need to relax a lil' bit

  5. I don't think the bank robbery analogy works here.

Because it would be like you robbing the bank to give to the needy, and being caught because they haven't figured out a way for you to rob the bank THEIR WAY instead of it just being illegal. If they had a legit way of allowing you to rob the bank, then it wouldn't be a crime… See the issue?

Also, maybe don't make the mechanic so obtuse that we need to set way markers outside of the arena. Maybe don't shove fucking 3 debuffs without any goddamn marker and a bunch of fucking roman numerals. The mech is absolutely too obtuse and going after a guy just trying to make it slightly sharper is infuriating.

  6. I will always champion the use of add-ons for personal use. UI mods, graphical overhauls, ACT with the purpose of improving your skill, Router Upgrades that allow you to play the game as it was designed. We honor and revere those who valiantly sacrifice themselves to draw attention to things that can and should be in the game for everyone, regardless of platform they play on.

  7. People are being stupid about it, if they detect someone using 3rd party tools they are FORCED to apply a penalty, else they'd be treating some people different and would be ignoring their own TOS. WHICH if they ever did, people would start doing it more and more because "they won't punish you, don't worry", yeah, no.

And honestly, I don't think the SE team is witch hunting people using 3rd party tools, they understand, but if someone reports you for it, their hands are bound.

It doesn't matter if you're against it, it doesn't matter if you're angry because it's a stupid thing, yes it is a stupid thing, but if you were the GM and had to take a decision for the company, you'd follow the TOS meaning, a penalty MUST be given. How hard that penalty is depends on the company itself not us to decide.

  8. Remember people, if other players can see what you did, then that means it had to go through the server, which means the devs can see it too. If you must use add-ons, stick with client-side changes only.

  9. I see a lot of people commenting who never have raided any savage content when it was current or even at all. I have been playing since ARR and raided at least 1 tier each expansion. “Go to the forums.” The forums are full of toxic casuals that bitch more about parsers on facebook than they have ever been mentioned in game. Shit, you can see who they are in some of these comments. I have read and seen posts where people have posted genuine concerns about raids and they just get the toxic casual who says “who cares about that?” And this is for basic stuff, not just raiding issues. SE is so focused on the sociability of the game that they sometimes neglect the actual gameplay. Waymark saves should have been increased ages ago. I had 4-5 sets of P4S markers alone, which I wanted to finish farming when echo came out, but had to get rid of to add the new ex/savage waymarks. Personally, I waver on the thought that they don’t have enough waymarks. I’ve already watched the chaos of people over complicating Sephirot unreal with every single waymark placed when back in the day all you needed was a, b, c. There are longstanding QOL issues in raiding that still have not been fixed. PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THEM AND MESSAGE THE TEAM. I messaged SE about bugs during P5S where your gauges don’t increase even though attacks registered. It hasn’t been fixed as of the recent patch notes, but I’m patient and willing to wait an extra gcd to not fk up my rotation until there is a fix. By the way, I’ve heard this issue from multiple people, specifically reapers. People go through the proper points to tell SE there are issues, it’s just a matter of is it a priority for them. The guy deserved to be banned for a little bit, but his ban made them get their crap together. Maybe it’s just me, but I find that this tier has been a bit messy compared to what has come out in the past.

  10. I think your reading on this situation (with the Robin Hood analogy) is exactly right. I was going to make a similar one, but no need now that you explained it well. Even if the devs decide now to make it possible to place markers there by expanding the playfield, he still committed an illicit act and the devs are within their rights to punish the original person for doing so. Often someone will put a danger Dorito, or whatever they say, over their heads for people unfamiliar with the fight to follow them, and I have generally found that to work well to stay alive in a fight I haven't memorized. That's a good alternative to using illicit means of placing markers on the field of play.

  11. Just recently i decided to try the revamped Summoner & it's truly fun but one thing bothers me the most is why in the world healing spell "Physick" doesn't do decent healing!? If it's useless why still we have it!? They could give us a decent healing for it but with a 1 minute cooldown no?
