  1. The steady stream of income from this game is what Square Enix needs for some financial stability and to evolve the company to make even better games in the future 😍 So much potential for future FF games 🙏🏻 XVI, VII Remake part 2, IX remake and XIV 7.0 expansion 🥳🥳🥳

  2. As a WoW fan I think it’s great. At this age I don’t have time to start a new game (I actually played a ton of FFXI waiting for WoW years ago) but new MMO’s threatening Bobby’s cash-cow might be the only thing that can convince him to invest more in personnel and change their approach to the game.

  3. The population of XIV has skyrocketed during a pre-expansion lull. This is like MoP randomly jumping 5x its normal playerbase in the 11th month of 5.4. All of the people who have "beat" XIV are probably not playing or subscribed right now since we haven't had any new content for months aside from events. When Endwalker hits, EVERYONE is coming back and you'll see some real numbers and I don't think it will be XIV that will have to be doing the "catching up."

  4. Honestly, I don’t think WoW even has a population close to FFXIV. Even GW2 feels like it has a bigger population than WoW at times. The only thing WoW has are more content creators/streamers.

  5. I'm shocked people still play wow honestly. It's very clear that Blizzard hates wow and all of it's players. That they're sacrificing gameplay and quality to push political ideology. They need to just shut down the wow servers and be done with it.

  6. One way you could better compare the two games (somewhat) would be to count how many 80 jobs per character in FFXIV have been earned. Then again, there are some that start much higher than 1 or level up in tandem, so that muddies that count somewhat. I know from personal experience that I have around 4 max level characters in WoW (cancelled sub awhile ago, so that number is lower than from previous expansions) and I have 17 (or 6 if you exclude DoH/DoL) level 80 jobs in FFXIV; I didn't include my BLU which is capped at 70. I'm obviously showing my preference. Comparing that number to max level main/alts in WoW sounds somewhat reasonable.

  7. Hmm, it's somewhat interesting I think the total stat was a 35% increase since the spring which was less then I thought it would be considering how many people have left WoW. It seems unlikely that after 10.0 announces they will still remain close, WoW will probably rebound for a time. I think more interestingly is if there were say 7-10mil WoW players at the beginning of SL, and now there's 2mil, and not particularly large amount went to FFxiv, then where did they go? And would they be willing to play a new MMO?

  8. Personally, I'm sipping tea watching WoW continue to decline at this point. I want WoW to be good because I have 15+ years of memories in that game, but unless Ion and his team can truly put aside their arrogance and take time to understand the feedback they've been getting for over a decade, WoW's not going to change. Yoshi's not competing with them because he doesn't have to. He is just presenting the best game he can, and his team is firing on all cylinders.

  9. As alts go for WoW I currently have 5 max level characters, I stopped playing 5-6 months ago though.

At the end of BFA I had 15 max level characters.

In FFXIV I do have two characters with multiple max level jobs. I had already played through the MSQ and had a friend that started playing so I created another character to go through the MSQ with them

  10. Heh, normally you'd be able to expect positive change from this competition in other developers. Except it's Blizzard that's grown arrogant, stubborn, deaf and fixed in their ways. Until I see the big heads that's feeding their anachronous and out of touch ideologies where they treat user feedback as personal insults straight up gone, I won't hold any hope for WoW.
