  1. well no one's stalking me so it isn't my problem. Hope square does something about these guys though but they prolly won't like 1% of the community is going to use this or be effected by it. does the app give your passwords likely not.

You guys mention IP etx but the road map is only mentioning alts and retainer info. I mean if they get your pass or IP isn't that actually a legal offense?

  2. There was an add-on/mod like this WoW for the forums/game where it would track the same stuff and had the same integration. It was shut down after like, an expansion and picked up by someone else. It was literally only a matter of time before this was developed.

As for erp/rp, neither of those are against the ffxiv tos as long as it is consensual between players snd done in a way that is private, i.e. party/whispers.

  3. Jesus. What that plugin itself can do is horrifying and the discord connected to it is quite literally every worst fear that I had when the plugin was explained. These people are going to legitimately force squeenix to put in anti-mod systems and quite frankly, we wouldn't be able to truly defend against it. This is a whole other level of privacy invasion.

  4. To me, this feels like people taking advantage of the fact that SE won't implement proper measures against stalking and harassment. Sure, the new blacklist features were a big step in the right direction, but people who are sick in the head will always look for ways to bypass whatever they add in the game.

Hell, at this point, it wouldn't surprise me if they create a plugin that lets you go anywhere in the game, even inside houses, whilst you stay inside an inn room.

  5. To all the people spamming about micro patches: the damage is done and the information is gathered. Actually read what the add-on is doing. It is using Lodestone (information outside of the game.) This is just another case of unhealthy individuals that need to watch Jurassic Park more. Only thing that gonna stop stuff like this from happening is vigilance and making sure the victims of these sick people know how to handle it.

  6. [me seeing the thumbnail] I RECOGNIZE THAT CATGIRL! (It's my partner's WoL haha)

I think it should be said that in the end, this is partially Square Enix's fault for not creating a better blocking system in the first place. The changes to the blacklist added in Dawntrail were needed, but implemented in such a sloppy manner that it allowed bad actors to get a hold of account information because it wasn't hidden or encrypted in any way. The modding community is already upset by this plugin as it risks security for everyone for very little player benefit.

I use mods for quality of life and accessibility features not present in the vanilla game. I shouldn't have to mod the game to do that, but if SE won't implement them, then I rely on the community for it. The modding community has historically been very critical of mods by bad actors or that could put the community in danger, like with everyone abandoning GShade after that debacle a couple years ago. It sucks that we have to deal with this, but honestly this shouldn't even have been possible in the first place (or very difficult, if nothing else) if SE had better security measures.

  7. 0:52 retainer information could be beneficial to on patch crafters. Id have no issue buying stuff on mass from someone by trading if it means we can dodge the MB tax when im looking at 100 mil worth of materials. Hell even when buying something worth 5-20mil id be 100% willing to trade in person to dodge the MB tax. the funny motivation is tax evasion.

Alt information could be useful as well. lets say you have an alt and you go into a PF for a savage fight you have cleared on your main. This tool could help the other player confirm that it is indeed an alt.

This plugin does have some beneficial uses… unfortunately people will be people and I can already see the negative impact this could have in the hands of some of the more abusive players ive seen. Or in the hands of people that have harassed me before.

  8. as someone who met a lot of weird/bad people on MMOs as a minor, thank god XIV doesn't have a large percentage of kids playing (ofc there will always be some- including families). absolutely insane that this exists 🤦‍♀️
