Dawntrail, the latest expansion for Final Fantasy 14, the critically acclaimed mmorpg with a free trial up to level 70 with no limit on playtime…we all know the copypasta! With Dawntrails release people have been complaining that the FFXIV team has started to make Dungeons and Trials a little less braindead. Are they harder, technically but they’re not anything crazy, let’s talk about it!

  1. Are the fights more difficult? Yeah. Is that a good thing? HELL YEAH.
There's a definite player skill issue and it's becoming more obvious when base MSQ content is a slight step up from what it used to be.
The amount of people that get completely overwhelmed in the 3 Dawntrail trials is staggering. My first time doing the 3rd trial we had to use THREE healer LB3's. Hot damn.
Is it people boosting/skipping? Is it people just playing with Trusts and completely leaning on the NPC's telling them where to run and then when they are in a group with people have no clue? Is it people that seriously don't give a crap and just want the exp and rewards? Probably a mix of all 3, and it's a blight.

I do my roulettes every day and get a lot of DT trials on Trial roulette.. not a single one has gone off without a hitch. Not one. Kinda depressing ngl xD

  2. meanwhile i LOVE the dungeons being harder. if we see more fights where you don't just get a Vuln stack for not resolving Mechs properly, im all for it. it means there is a far greater punishment for not doing the bare minimum.
also i can also count to 4 since im a Raider!

  3. nobody is crying about normal trails .the dung that are the problem is the last boss of lv 97 boss, the first lv 99 boss , and last trail boss beign confusing the mechanics are confusing and chaotic and this came from ew where all was good and made clear as IT SHOULD BE IN CASUAL CONTENT the fact msq dungs at the end are annjoying is a issue if the target audeince of it is casual aka 80% of the playerbase who most hate this bs if this continues in 2 more expantion you wil lreach your wow shadowlands phase where ffxiv will have no casual since the loud minority of dikheads thign everthing need to be challanging not understand that anti casual and with less causal content (since dt will have next to no causal content beside beastmaster and maybe ally raids) this look like big f you to casuals and we will leave then when you game start o fall in popularity and die out to irellavancy we will laugh as we did with all other mmorpg that f off it casual players .

  4. i've been playing ffxiv since prior to HW's release. i remember when the chrysalis was released and it was hailed as the hardest normal trial at the time (a chrysalis ex would be amazing tbh) and i'm YELLING with JOY at the uptick in difficulty in non-savage content. weed out the people who are only into the game because it's the current biggest thing. these are the people who are most likely to buy the story skips (which i hate so much)(i HATE IT)(you cannot appreciate shadowbringers without experiencing everything before it please stop telling people to skip ARR) so they can do the most current stuff and get into trials and not know basics like stack markers and destroying nails and then bitch because the game is tOo hArD. these are also the people who are NOT going to stick around after they get carried to the end of the current expac MSQ (and then whine because they finished the story and now tHeRe'S nOtHiNg tO dO) because god forbid you try to coach these people without the looming threat of being reported.

sorry for the salty paragraph but please understand i NEEDED to get it out with my entire chest. anyway great video 🙌

  5. I gotta wonder how many people will after a while realize that it becomes easier to solve and anticipate mechanics the more you try and do them…then ragequit anyways because they never fully master it but doing fine in general.

  6. Respectfully, the people complaining about the difficulty have skill issues. To me this is the perfect difficulty. Not too hard to be infuriating, but not too easy to the point where you can kinda doze off mid fight. It's the fun type of hard.

  7. This is a game where your skill and experience isn't just supposed to build in numbers but in your actual skill and experience. If ARR was as hard as Dawn Trail right at the beginning I would understand, but this game has been out since 2013(ARR release). So that's ARR, HW, SB, ShB, EW and now DT and you're telling me there should be no expectations to get better at this game and handle more complicated stuff when we are level 100?

Even if you're a huge MSQ lover, the entire point of the story and the identity of your character is that you are someone with an insane will power and tenacity to overcome all sorts of odds. You even have a built in power that increases your power every time you lose to try again.

Obviously we're not literally the WoL, but man don't you feel like an imposter if you get broken down so easily?

I feel like some people have such little expertise with their jobs that they're still in that stage where they have to stare at all their buttons and are thus missing all the tells and hints the game gives you to avoid stuff. Enjoy the challenge. Overcome it.

  8. They are just players that want an easy game and they complain when the diffeculty gets a little harder

I savage raid and the expansion has been super easy as all of them are once you learn the fights and pay attention to the things each boss, trial and raid has to show

So people stop judging the expansion on why you can be carried any easier

  9. The point of EVERY trial and dungeon is it gives you a mech, you learn it after. Then it repeats until you are use to it. I never once in my life have I said "Man, this is TOO HARD for me. Waaaa." I find it funny that the only thing I have said on record is "Its hard to see it." But I KNOW what I'm suppose to do, its just visually sometimes hard for me to see. Everything IS DOABLE if you learn the mech, and Yoshi P's team is wanting us to understand that its a game. Not a simulator.

  10. Valigarmanda EX was an amazing challenge. It was a very well designed fight with some tight spots for healers who tend to be kind of afk in these kind of content. Now, Zoraal Ja Ex is harder than Vali, anyone saying otherwise are those people who get their asses beaten in fights for a long period of time and when they finally clear they go the "dude it was eZz" clowns. Anyways, having said that both Ex teaches the player new stuff and what can you expect in the future.

Vali teaches the player to move around with partners while avoiding stuff and trying to stay alive for the big damage it does.

Zoraal ja teaches the player awareness to it's surroundings, and how to move in very limited and tight areas while dealing dps to the boss.

If people complain, then maybe this isn't the kind of content for you. You don't need to tryhard extremes or savages to get a full ff14 experience, besides raids laste like a couple of months and thrn there is a catch up patch.

  11. The only time i died in trust dungeons or lvl.100 end game dungeons was when I did not understand the telegraph of the attack.
So a few bosses I did have to go back a second time to clear.
I don't do ex mainly due to time availability after work, family ext.

  12. I think they should update the entire game retroactively to make the ENTIRE GAME'S content more difficult and engaging no more dungeons so easy I nearly fall asleep during repeat runs

  13. Ain't no way anyone whom passed every MSQ dungeons and solo instances, have no idea how stack marker works. I'm pretty sure people whom were struggling with Valigarmanda are either MSQ skip buyers, or straight up account buyers. I've seen plenty of "returners" badge fall prey to same telegraphed aoes more than 3 times and moving like headless chickens.

  14. Yes absolutely a skill issue. Ive only been playing ffxiv for about 11 months now, not even a full YEAR, and I finished Endwalker about 5-6 months before Dawntrail came out. Were the new dungeons and trials hard as balls? Yes. But thats what made it FUN! It was a bit frustrating but i got used to them very quickly.

  15. You forgot story skip exists. Some people are lv90+ and literally haven't played the game longer than an hour. You can also not blame people for not knowing mechanics when the game absolutely does not require you to ever complete one properly in normal content, especially if you are a DPS.

So yes it is a game issue. The game doesn't force people to learn anything to clear normal content.
