  1. "No one should stress, I'MAFROG! No one should stress…"

Good video though, really glad there are some stable voices piching in with this discussion as i've definitely seen a lot of panic and people being scared without understanding what is actually going on.

  2. I don't believe that these susceptibilities to hysteria are better or worse than they've ever been throughout history. However we are definitely more inundated by said hysteria because of the ease of access that the internet brings. We are just as susceptible to influence of the masses as we were back in 1692's Salem Witch Trials.

That said, I don't think it is possible to actually educate someone in healthy skepticism, at least not conventionally. Personally I think it has to come from the individual in the form of an epiphany, now whether that experience can be legally facilitated or not is another question.

  3. I personally don't care, I even have some consistant naming convention for my characters that makes it so you would not even need this tool if you wanted to stalk me. It's just the intent behind the plugin, the "just because you can doesn't mean you should" type of situation from the plugin creator that is disapointing, especially from a community that loves to toot itself as "the best mmo community there is".

  4. My 1st reaction was, only 1% of the community is going to be effected by this if that.

1st you need someone dumb enough to use the plug in (now it's down on git hub so now they gotta go to some shady part of the net and risk viruses) then it doesn't really matter anyways because if you are getting stalked you can just void list them.

guy messages my alt talking about my main I'll just report him I think he has that plug in plug ins are 3rd party and therefore against TOS.

XIV community is just hyperbolic especially since there is no good new content imagine if this happened in EW the plug in Dev would have been laughed out of the room. xD

  5. I mean, I'm not really worried about this. Worst case scenario, people stalk my account. It's a game, so if they harass me, I blacklist them and no longer see them. Second is that I don't know of anyone who would do that to me. Maybe we have a bad run on a savage raid, and they get mad at me. Last is I don't do anything that would get my account banned or reported so there's not very much they can do to me.

  6. Let's be real… 90 percent of players are not part of a ffxiv community. Being in an fc doesn't mean anything. Just join for the buffs and solo content. It's just an entertainment avenue. Gaming community has been dead sine the 2010s.

  7. Yeah, the moment they changed their policy, to where SE can ban you for even talking in the way ppl didn’t like,”. This all the way back either ARE or HW, I knew in-game chat was done. 3rd party platforms was mandatory. So at that time, the way ppl chat nowadays is pretty one side cause you can’t tell how ppl react and you don’t want to risk losing everything.

Edit: for the stalking add on. I don’t really care. It doesn’t bother me. I was never deep into the FF14 community ever since that policy change so I already come to this conclusion many times. Anti-cheats, SE spies into your PC or deal with the stalking. There’s no solution, only a trade off. Either the company stalks you or the individual, pick your poison.

  8. Thanks for sharing your take on this.

I think when the most affected individual can speak their fear to a willing audience, in this case xivfrogs, it makes the scary thing a boogeyman that will be used to harrass and stalk you. While true, its sensational because the whistleblowers want to scare people because they understand how nefarious bad actors can get with the information from the blacklist change.

  9. I'm spending too much tie laughing at all the haters in my gaming comments, People telling me to delete the game cause I'm calling things out they don't agree with, BUT… They DON"T watch the whole video so they miss most of what's being said.. they get mad in the first minute and spew hate and leave. You're spot on with the negative thing. My bike channel is all beneficial info and fun things, they get zero comments, I make someone mad on my music channel and people will freak out.. the gaming channel I have people that just click dislike and leave cause I made them mad in another video.

  10. Sorry if you already mentioned it, too much rambling for me to watch all the way through, But I dont fear what this addon does now, I fear what some other scumbag will do to expand upon it. Right now our player ID is limited on what it gives them, but what if they are able to connect it to our irl info inputted into the mogstation?

  11. most things this stalker plugin does, you can do through the lodestone. people are just giant babies that want something to cry about. this wont effect 99.9% of people and those it does, whats gonna happen? you blacklist them and then you can't see them anymore. nothing dangerous can happen, grow up people.

also careful about giving kudos to the new BL system, it doing shit client side is why this plugin even works.

  12. I hope more of these kinds of plug-ins pop up so it forces CBU3 to actually try moderating their game instead of leaving it up to the community to police.

Until there are improvements, I'll be playing something else cause I just can't trust this community anymore with anything.

  13. Im genuinely more afraid of them banning plug ins with an anti cheat then I am getting stalked. Ill probably just be written off as a "Modbeast" ( and i totally am iv accepted it) To many people think that mod users are just a bunch of horny people that don't stand to lose all that much if they got banned and yeah a lot are but that is such a small part of plug in users. Even if it does not outright kill the game i think it severely cripples it. I think i could pretty easily say like 30 to 40 percent of people unsub the second something like that got announced. I think Square as a company can not afford that right now they are not exactly thriving and 14 is probably what is keeping there head above water, especially right now with current state of the game after DT BEFORE the whole stalker plug in thing. Plug ins are a HUGE reason as to why people keep paying there subs.
