  1. The housing updates sound all pretty darn great. My only hope is that smalls are able to choose where to have their entrance. I would, personally, much rather have entry to the much larger floor and have an attic/upstairs space than the current layout for smalls.
Other than that, I am more than willing to pay to upgrade the interior sizes! I think that's more than understandable. With the severe lack of actual houses–and having to fight over larger plots–it feels like a good compromise. You trade out the use of a larger garden space, if your happy to do so, and can still upgrade to a medium or large interior. (I do still hope they increase the allotted slot count for gardens and interiors, though.)

  2. Still desperately need to increase the housing item limit on large houses in particular. Its impossible to make what you eant and not have incredibly empty dosces left over….think about how much bigger a large is to a small. 4 times the space, but only twice the item limit. 400 is far too little for s large house. Its ridiculous. And you would think an fc house would have more than a normal house, but no. Its just too little, swuare enix needs to step up their game here, its woefully undersuported and falling behind other games.

  3. An interesting change to be sure. As a small house owner (being picky about the medium or large plot I bid on) I do hope they offer a similar solution for the outside. If not an increase in size (at that point why get a large at all?) but simply allowing more storage space, if not placement space. I have to get rid of so many outdoor items that I simply don't want to fill up retainer inventory with.

Either way, nice to see thought being given to housing one way or another.

  4. I'm one of those wierdos that would enjoy a smaller interior. I tend to like the medium house insides more than the large, since one can make it decoratively dense without just blocking off an entire floor or something. The Large is just too big for too few slots. Exterior I like Large homes, but interior, medium is peak.

  5. A+ for pillars. A+ for different interior walls. A+ for different size housing interiors. I've wanted different sized interiors since I began playing. Even tho I finally have my large this is still awesome.

  6. i have a small house in empyrem that is in a realy realy good spot. been wanting to upgrade to a medium but i love my spot too much to wanna move so this is amazing for me. lets me have my cake and eat it too so to speak. i do hope we get a item cap increase for interiors and exteriors though as 20 items for a small is more like 15 after the utilitarian stuff like stables, atherite, garden, mailbox, and training dummy not leaving much room to decorate in detail.

  7. They should add different layouts or let us choose where the stairs etc. would be.
Like my small house, i clearly have a upstairs but i go downstairs, i want a narrow upstairs as soon as you go through the door that currently leads down, as soon as you get upstairs, you exit from the same direction you came in and there you go second floor ready to use, unlike that bottom floor that messes with every design, no one has a house like this, this is more like a bunker, i don't want a bunker, i want an upstairs. They could either keep the current size or make the upstairs the size of the current bottom floor, or make them both the size of the current bottom floor.
Also apartments need to be elongated at least horizontally, because that's the preferred way, when it comes to decoration, you have the main door and people always like to immediately start with a dressing area, bathroom, kitchen on the sides, but currently it's rather narrow and ruins ideas. They should become bigger, because it's been many years, we are moving towards modern clothes, so why not modernize the housing, from furniture, to size. Increasing the item size is nice and all, but increase the space, because people will want to use it up to the max but they might not prefer to shove everything into a cubic sized box.
Allow people to like apartments just as much as houses, to hopefully calm some people down, as apartments are too small for todays standards.
The point to different houses should be, different layouts, and the outside decoration, every house has a different outside, also they can always give people half or whatever amount of gil back, if they're worried about people getting mad about them wasting money to get a large, only for small houses being able to be just as big.

  8. i want to put more garden plots, the only reason i would fight for a large house is for gardening multiple items in each stage. if i could have 3 in a small i wouldnt need a large property. with higher item counts as a lala i could just turn a small into multiple floors by splitting each floor into 2 floors. all i want is the ability to do multi stage gardening in my own gardens i dont have to share lol

  9. I recently lucked out in the lottery and was able to get a medium house in Lavender Beds and knowing I can renovate it into a large in the future is amazing news! I've been wanting to build a venue ever since I was able to grab my first small so this is going to help immensely with that dream!

  10. Making every small house a Tardis is kinda weird, but I'm very hyped about the interior swapping and pillar removal. Strange they didn't mention increasing the furnishing cap though, that's the thing I'm looking forward to the most this expansion. 400 for a large just isn't enough.

  11. I love this idea. I got a small in Endwalker and while I am okay with a small yard I hated the small interior. I may still upgrade to a medium but having the option to upgrade the interior and not move is amazing.

  12. as someone that has a small and has been tryin to upgrade to a medium or large, this would be a very welcome change, as the house i have now is next to a friend, would also mean we could stay neighbors without having to transfer houses, only downside would be exterior item storage i would assume stay the same, as well as placement limits (i.e. 20 items, 1 farm plot)

  13. I've got a small in Ishgard and absolutely love it but bigger inside would be so nice especially considering how big some things are like the pictures of the 12 and the scions, not nearly enough wall space in a small for those, let along anything else with them. As of right now I have them spread between my apartment, Fc apartment, and my house lol.

  14. Not to sound like a downer, but I absolutely think the devs gonna half-ass this new feature. Just like how they half baked island sanctuary, and just how they still haven't gave the hrothgar and viera full hat and head armor visibility options, even tho its been 5 years since they were playable. Prolly gonna take 5 more years just to add glamour dressers to houses.

  15. I own a medium personal and large fc on my main. I am ecstatic about this change. I don't feel like I'd be getting the short of the stick, just now everyone else can join those of us that have larger buildings. How could anyone be upset that more people can have access to larger places to decorate and fun with? I never did understand the people who whine, "But now it's not as exclusive/rare/hard and I worked so hard to get mine it isn't faaaaiiiir what about meeeeee?" whiners.

  16. As an owner of a small who's been trying to save up for a large, I could see this as a great alternative. Although, I'd still like a medium or large for the bigger yard. Mine's a bit cramped…. 😂

  17. Freelance designer here. I hope this system leads into allowing more styles of interior layout, not just swapping the currently available presets or adding different looks to existing layouts. Like adding completely different interior layouts like one that's just one big room without basement or top floor, a layout that's a tower with many floors or layouts that match specific exteriors, not just in visual style but in overall floor-plan. I'd love one that matches the new exterior with the tree; no windows on the side with the chimney, a set fireplace where the chimney is, doors leading to the back porch and the shed to the side, a bey window for the floor above the shed, rooms upstairs where the roof slants and perhaps the interior of the tree part itself.
Either way, any added optional customization is always a win to me. If I don't like it, I can ignore it.

  18. housing in ff14 is a literal fucking scam to keep you from unsubscribing from the game when you actually decide to take a break from the game.

'yoshi p: i encourage poeple to take breaks from the game'
'square enix: btw if you unsub from the game we're gonna take your house you spent 50million gil on'

people were mad that island sanctuary wasn't a phased full on housing solo area for the WoL, no shit sherlock if that was the case people wouldn't feel pressed to keep their subscriptions rolling anymore they could go on 2 to 4 month hiatus after they're all caught up with content.

  19. I am excited and such but I still think people will bitch and complain simply for a few reasons and it ALL has to due with apartments.

    Apartments now NEED:
    1) Availability to the LARGEST (and can customize if you want smaller.) at LEAST ONE Garden. To make thavnarian onions and any other crops.
    2) Tenancy; yes. People get married in this game. Become couples. People SCREAM for instanced housing even though instanced housing is dogsh-t and should never happen. Apartments can turn into this while keeping non-instanced housing from the game. This also allows people to get the amazing housing designers to work on their homes.
    3) Item limits (this goes for all plots not just apartments) need to double at a minimum. Ideal is double and a half. Theres too many items in this game and the slots are SO limited it makes you unable to do EVERYTHING you want without saying "well guess I gotta cut the budget somewhere"

  20. I think it’s weird. It’s going to be stupid to walk into a small house and suddenly it’s a mansion. It doesn’t make sense and I don’t like it. I was hoping they were gonna let us reconfigure our house. Like maybe we don’t want a basement and instead we would like an upstairs. That sounded cool. This is… odd.

  21. I have a large plot that I fought for and I am so happy that fewer people have to go through that process, it's pretty stressful. I hope people with large plots now don't feel like wasted effort, you can still have fun with your large exterior and I think positive moves for the largest amount of players is positive for all players, we want as good an environment for people as possible. Plus, there's significantly less pressure now to continue my sub when I'm not playing as much!

  22. I got a medium plot a bit before Dawntrail came out and was so excited for the upgrade from the small I had when the most recent wards opened. This housing update is going to be so nice, especially for FCs that have small plots. Now it’s time to start building back up my bank retainer for the eventual update for the large interior!

  23. My FC would love this upgrade.

We run a MINE team, and after each clear we create the furniture piece using the crafting mat of the boss we just beat. But, even before we've gotten out of ARR we're already running out of space to display these items, in addition to the actual housing items we have there too (things like our basement club/bar, the "business office" in the entryway, etc.)

I do wonder, if you upgrade your interior to be a larger size, does that also include increases to the limitation of things that are restricted based on size:
Number of NPCs in the house, number of crafting stations, etc.

  24. Even if it takes them a while to put this in, it's renewed my interest in trying to get a house. Was trying to get a medium for a while but if I could just grab one of the handful of small houses that tend to be available on my server and buy a medium interior, that will work.
