  1. To be fair, I think you can't look at it like they're throwing away the exact amount in game time that they give. It's absolutely an investment to make more money in the future with people not quitting. That being said, it's a move to keep users that already play the game happy, which is a move I can get behind regardless of the intent. 'Some' companies won't even go that far lol

  2. Sadly, people expect everything to work 100000000%, then jump on the lawsuit wagon. SE has been upfront about what the issue is and what they plan to do, if you want to blame anyone, blame the chip shortages caused by the mining craze (covid isn't helping, but neither is the manufacturers not doing anything about it) .

  3. Watched the Hoag Law video just before this. People jumping immediately to “Sue SE!” are the type of people who just blurt out whatever the first thing that pops into their head with no further thought given to whether it makes sense. I appreciate the rational discourse about this topic provided by you guys and other channels like Hoag Law.

I will say I am one of the fortunate ones who have had minimal issues being able to play EW, but I am sympathetic to those who haven’t been so lucky. Nothing sucks more than looking forward to something and then the day comes and it gets yanked from out in front of you. The only consolation I can provide is that this isn’t a permanent issue, and the content will still be there when the queues subside. It really sucks for those who set aside time to play EW or those who haven’t been able to enjoy a new expansion launch with their friends, but, like so many things, “this too shall pass.”

  4. Honestly if that is the case they should describe that in the free time to play these people can access this content or have they?

Good vid guys! Also nothing should stop from people playing FFXIV. Hope in time Yoshi and the team can get those servers I am thankful they still managing the best they can do right now I still give them props.

  5. This whole situation is unfortunate because it seemed like they very much had a fix in mind before the pandemic but were just not able to implement it in time. Had the Oceanic data center been ready before Endwalker's launch it may have avoided a large amount of their current problems. I'm sure they'd still have plenty of other little things to focus on but not having a large portion of their players waiting hours to just get in the game is certainly the last thing they wanted to have to tackle.

  7. They need to drop the Oceanic servers for now. I still don't understand why they can't rent more server space. There are data centers free in Europe for lease if they send teams there to get them set up

  8. I'm all for empathy, but the spike in players came with the lock downs in 2020. Servers were pretty much easy to acquire up until the second lock down on the ports in China around june/july 2021, there were delays on getting them of several months over the old week or so but they were able to be got. Smart planning goes, we have a lot of players now, are they new? If yes watch the player count, does it drop off sharply in a month, if no are they free trials or paying to play, how is their msq progress then have bought servers to cover their needs before the expansion was launched meaning they needed more space for returning players.

  9. Anyone who actually thinks that Square Enix planned the launch of Endwalker has clearly never hear of the old saying "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence"
Seriously some people have to realize that that the launch of a game is the most important event of its life as it is what will imprint upon people (especially new players) the most, best point of example being Cyberpunk 2077, regardless how liked CDPR was/is, regardless of how many patches they make and how many bugs they fix, regardless how many features they add the thing that Cyberpunk WILL be remembered for forever is being a broken buggy mess and many people will not give it the time of day because of that, It makes literally NO SENSE from a business perspective to intentionally kneecap your own game and risk driving away new (and potential) players with a dumpster fire at launch.

  10. The time doesn't sweeten anything it's just a extention for money they will invetiable get because those waiting won't be able to even utilize the free game time . It's like me staying subbed for a month but only being able to play 1 hour

  11. Se hasn't stopped all sales you can still buy endwalker. Just cannot purchase any new services accounts. But if you have a service account that's been sitting in 2.0 and not have been touched since 2013d you can buy end walker and hope right into the game

  12. 100% the problem is the kicks and the crashes to desktop after a que error. I usually que after work and as you said, I go to the store, prepare dinner, maybe a shower, and then play. But babysitting the que is not doing it.

  13. I'm on of this shift workers Brian mentioned. Currently working nights on my Covid ICU. When I come back from work after a late shift (around 11PM) I queue for like a minute and log in. But when I'm off it's really shitty. lol Oh well. My FC has postponed raiding till we can log in normally again. What else can you do?

  14. Agreed that all game launches have problems, but…

I don't think comparing it to New World is fair as their failures are different. FF14 problems are pretty much purely technical. New World, aside from technical problems, had ton of game-related issues. Some bugs were basic (code in chat that breaks PCs? wtf); it was a game that sold itself on discovery and exploration, and then it was completely solved in beta, meaning launch didn't bring anything new. Badly designed pvp system; lackluster assets that are reused very frequently… and list goes on. Personally I don't give any breaks to New World because it was published by a multi-billion company with far more resources than almost any other company in the world, and thus the state it was released in was inexcusable.

FF14 has problems, but they are reasonable (due to covid and semiconductor shortage), and they are actively communicating the problems to player base AND they are generous with compensation (pretty much a freelo month as you said is damn good, and if it persists I wouldn't put it past them to do some more about it). Over years FF14 just built a good rep with me (like classic wow had at release for first few years), and it continues to maintain it. I am willing to look past those problems, at least for the any immediate time, because I respect and trust the company (or at least Yoshi-P). IMHO, people who keep screaming lawsuit or other bs like that are either new to gaming… or just stupid… or just kids but they kinda then fall into the first one anyway…

  15. At this point Yoshi P have my full trust
I have no trust in SE whatsoever eversince they release XV, especially if its yoshinori kitase & tetsuya nomura combi
For me who Playing this game since 2011, yoshi p and his team already proved their mettle again and again
Even tho Its like you said "Ultimately, time will tell"
So I'll just be patient, sit back and let them do their job in peace
