  1. Next expansion will be 100% Meracydia, I can see the devs giving new people a choice in an RP way as in "choose your destiny", are you a citizen of Ul'Dah, Limsa, Gridania giving you the option of Aldenard (Ul'Dah and Gridania), Vylbrand (Limsa) or Meracydia.

    If you choose Meracydia, you could probably start from there as level 1 and eventually open the possibility to travel to a foreign land where you'd begin your story as optional content in ARR / EW. OR they could make you visit those places eventually during the Meracydia story and link yourself to the Hydaelyn Saga in some sort of way. OR they could just feed you a TLDR version of the ARR-EW MSQ.

    Maybe you can begin your story in Meracydia and find the option to visit a foreign land at level 20 or so, then you go there as a real adventurer and pick up from the ifrit quests or w/e. In a way they'll need to work on 2 stories that could eventually meet on one path, though I don't see it happening all at once in 7.0

    The challenge here is basically how are you going to pair new players with max level everything players from now on, as the story even though it's amazing and we all love it, it is a huge wall to climb for new people, and since it's was just the Hydaelyn Saga, there can be new beginnings on the next chapter of Etheirys.

    Another option would be visiting Meracydia but on another shard, where we are back to level 1 with new jobs, basically an alternative world where we have no story behind us. That way people from 7.0 can eventually travel to the source and start as level 1 too.

  2. You actually fight the earth fiend first in FFIV. It goes Scarmiglione, Cagnazzo, Barbarricia, & Rubicante. Earth, Water, Air, & Fire. When you battle them again it goes Earth, Fire, Water, & Air for the original SNES version. In the DS remake the battle with all four goes Earth, Water, Air, Fire. Of all 4 fiends I always though Barbariccia was the most difficult followed by Rubicante or swapped depending how good your party is.

  3. I could see 6.5 throwing us a narrative curveball. I think back to 2.5. We had a pretty solid view of what was coming, the Scions were expanding, we had neutral Grand Company, Primal summonings were on the decline, a major Garlean spy had been uncovered. The BAM! We're scattered to the winds and fugitives.

  4. Yeah, the Island Sanctuary not having housing really sucks for the players who don't have a house. They really need to do something to make sure everyone can get a house. I'm not sure why instanced housing is so hard.

  5. sooo much good stuff in this interview and I can’t believe that we’re getting sooo much more news on Friday^^

    I am fine with 6.x’s patches going more the route of ARR in terms of Trials and having more or less the entire patch story being a big epilogue to ARR as opposed to the x.1-x.3 vs. x.4-x.5 split from the latter expansions. With 7.0 being a new story it feels like 6.x i. that regard is more of an interlude than anything else, which is also fine, I don’t mind xD I trust the devs xD

    And FFXIV definitely needs a new “starting point” with 7.0^^

    Also, I feel that the whole “big event” at the end of 6.5 isn’t just a big bait. Looking back to the other x.5 events, most of those shattered our world quite a bit. So I’m not surprised muhst we get that again xD

  6. It's a shame for no Eureka/Bozja, but it was never really about the relics for me. I just think those large-scale zones with tons of people offered a much needed counterbalance to the mostly instanced/solo story of the rest of the game. Despite a terrible launch and Pagos being awful, Eureka was some of the most fun I've had in this game because of how social it could be and I spent most of my time there. I hope they come back for 7.0. (Or at least buff Eureka to 90 so I can play with my entire job's kit.)

    What if there's another calamity that we can't prevent. It causes the 8th Umbral calamity and were brought back down to 50/60 with all the same skills but a new story based on this new experience.

    Not just that Brian, Emet was a thrall of Zodiark. Along with the rest of the convocation that followed him.

    I'm curious what kind of space magic we need to yeet Eden into the 13th. Maybe get a little update on Rynn and Gaia. Hopefully they're enjoying all the coffee biscuits people made last expansion.

    I enjoyed raiding but I am hanging it up for awhile. I had fun while my static lasted but when it started to loose players I lost the fun of progression. We ended up watching videos rather than trying to figure out the mechs ourselves. Thats not fun to me. Might as well use Cactbot.

    Astro is very fun. Its card really arnt rng. You'll notice that it spawns melee cards 2/3 times over ranged. I assume its setup to give the highest dps consistent throughput. The real rng is with the king and queen. Sometimes you'll sit on a queen for almost a minute waiting for a mech to use it. Healing is very easy compared to ultimate fights. You at most have a mech once per 30 seconds to a minute that requires you to heal. Sometimes you can go a few minutes with no real healing needed.

    Astro is a white mage + sage + dancer and has about as many buttons as those jobs combined. It heals like a white mage, has shields and defencesives like a sage, can single target buff like a dancer and aoe buff its team as well.

    Ahhh, resto druid and the haste cap…. good times gotta love free hots 🙂

    I am leveling warrior. Fell cleave feels awesome. I don't even like tanking. It feels like I'm more a sturdier dps at the 60s range.

    I guess the world can fall as long as Island Sanctuaries launches this month with a retainer bell. Must sell goodies from the island. I'm selling the good stuff. Crystals.

    I wanna see how that playes in the extreme and savage versions.

    I believe the Criterion dungeons are tied to hildy weaps.

    Yay, a version of borrowed power isolated from all other gameplay. Again. This deserves a slow golf clap with a surprised Pikachu face.

    I might not ever unsub if Island Sanctuaries is done right.

    I think they are really missing an opportunity to give players housing in a way that would appease alot of players.

    Chris, tell Brian about the 11 bars thats in the Firmament that unlock a Pteradon. Thats 11 amazingly grindy bars that will take some time to work on. Roughly 500 crafts per job. Still working on a gatherer to figure out how many tens of thousands of items I need.

    I did part of the aar relic. I got to the books and stopped. It was too much for me to want to continue at the time.

    I've gotten close to finishing two Shadowbringers relics.

    I mean…I would love chat bubbles and better party buffs being shown. Bubbles would make talking to people in general feel better. A better party buff list would help in savage and ultimate to actually see who has what.

  8. When you guys were talking about the relics after they mentioned anima weapons you guys seemed to go on a tangent about what sounded like the zodiac weapons. Two different grinds. Anima weapons were mostly instance and poetics based. The anima weapon grind was far more casual in comparison.

    7.0 we go hunting for every single one of them across the realm and the 1st ( Y'Shtola) and put them all on the chopping block.

  10. The problem with making the major arcana draw and play buttons being the same button is then you don't have a charge of it recharging while holding onto it. That takes away the chance of getting lucky with two lords in one raid buff. Though itd be better if they just gave us SHB major arcana back

  11. Smn is far too easy now. You complete the rotation quicker than cooldowns so end up spamming ruin. I miss my dots tbh and having additional things to think about beyond pressing the same buttons with a different summon active. Ended switching to dragoon for positionals and having more buttons but now they’re changing that so I’m going to move to blm as yoshi p mains it and I’d expect it to always feel good.

  12. Ngl I’ve imagined it to be similar to the diadem grind for scrips that can get exclusive rewards through casual content that also allows you to build your island so you can see progress like with the doman enclave (island sanctuary)

  14. Savage and Unreal gives me anxiety. I don’t even dare try them often and I consider myself skilled and a decently fast learner. I usually enjoy the fights fail or non, however, not everyone in the party will feel the same.

    Also, when will people learn that “watching a video” isn’t how everyone learns. Most people need hands on with character placement and aoe dodges and whatnots to perfect themselves in battle. Parties barred behind “go watch a video” are just too particular in my case on my server.
