I honestly rather like that GATEs and Ocean Fishing were added to the repeatable objectives. Gives some nice variety.

xiv could really stand to learn from gacha games about how to show the players that events are live in game and where to go when you log in. I didn't even realize the event was live until I got cutters cry for my leveling roulette and was wondering why everyone was malding at the tank for not skipping and kicked him out of the group and then discovered I had moogle tomes in my bag after the run lol. And yeah I also was confused about where to find the new UI and spent a minute scanning through the bloated menu before I decided to just try going to the moogle vendor to unlock it because I remembered xiv is like that.
Gachas that spam you with notifs about the shop 'discounts' are toxic sure, but the way they handle making you aware of limited event content is actually good design.
Even if this iteration of the event isn’t perfect I think it’s a major step in the right direction. The fact that someone could spend their time doing things that aren’t even combat like gates or ocean fishing and still participate in the event is a big deal. Even if the actual rewards themselves aren’t ideal or the ultimog challenge is off putting to people that really don’t want to fish, it’s still a massive improvement. As more moogle time events come and go these mechanics will make them far more interesting then they have been up to this point.
People will probably still go through a fast dungeon as unsynced BLUs but it’s not like you can truly stop people from finding the most optimized route.
I'm just glad i can farm mgp and maps, that's all i was asking on the previous ones where they removed one or the other. Very neat redesign, can't wait to make big money and get cool gold saucer rewards i'm usually too lazy to farm for.
Ocean fishing being the only thing that satisfies the ultimate tier is dumb. Shoulda been either multiple things or something generic like "do 20 roulettes over the course of the event"
Wow just looked at the special site and those rewards suck.
Doing all this just to put out twice-repeated items that anyone who does moogle tomes to begin with probably already has is a bit of a waste. Like even the "unique" 100 tome accessory is repeated, really?
Oh well, saves me time that I can use to play Palworld instead I guess. shrug

These seem like a huge improvement to the moogle events. Gonna be nice not having to do Prae 30 times in a month.
I honestly wish the Relic had challenges and direction like this. If you're gonna be grinding tomes anyways, having a better variety of new challenges is nice.
I'm happy with event so far. only need another 280 or so to get all the stuff I haven't collected yet.

You know what? I'm fine with Ultimog being Ocean Fishing. Never touched it before, now is as good a time as any to try. I am going to make a prediction: the next ultimog challenge will be mahjongg. I never touched that either.
They should keep this feature after the event end, just replace event tomestone to regular tomestone.

The Ultimog challenge was just for Happy.
Curious about the minima challenge. Do you only get one or the other because I did the fates and collected the reward then I went and did the triple triad battle and beat him all the times you need for the regular weekly triple triad log and I got nothing from mog tomes.
